The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Man Gets a Set of Parents and Another Villain

And which part of the equation still has their hands in the pot? Sony?

There's nothing anyone can do about it. Sony officially has the rights until they give them up or Disney finds some way to break the contract (which they want to do btw)

Avi Arad is no longer a producer, that guy was at certain points more in charge of the movies than the director or the other producer

It doesn't exactly mean we'll definitely get Proto-Goblin. Can everyone stop and realize this?

It doesn't exactly mean that, no, but it's pretty likely considering how obscure the character is. What's the point of hand picking a character out of the void like Van Adder if he's not going to become what he did in the comics? They could have just as easily made someone up to fulfill whatever his purpose may be. (A la Rachel Dawes.)

Avi Arad didn't push for Vulturess instead of Black Cat. Sony execs did.

I'm sorry, but Proto-Goblin doesn't exactly inspire confidence in me. I remain unconvinced this will turn out better than SM4 would have had Raimi had full control. Vulture may be lame to some, but Proto-goblin is lamer if he is in fact used.

Enough already about Proto-Goblin! He's probably not even in it, just Van Adder in human form.

Or do you really think it's more likely they picked a random villain that obscure to be one of Spidey's biggest threats in this universe?

still a random occurance on here
when not even the biggest spidey fans knew who van adder is or was lol

Him being just a human is as likely as him being Proto Goblin. People worried about him being Proto Goblin have a legit worry.

And it's just as likely that he'll have no basis in his comic counterpart - seeing as how he's reported to be "Van Atter," not "Nels Van Adder," and nothing has been confirmed.

So people saying that he is probably just human is just as likely as he is probably Proto Goblin. Nobody is more right than the other. So there is a legit reason to worry because no one knows if he will be Proto Goblin or not. People that worry about it can worry about it.

Worrying is one thing. Acting like it's already confirmed is another.

I agree with that. However, I am on the side that doesn't set myself up for disappointment. I will take the news as bad news and if it is the other way in the movie then I will be surprised.

I can see that. I mean, the possibilities are so wide open right now that I'm comfortable staying optimistic. As people have outlined, even if there is Proto-Goblin, it won't necessarily lead to Hulk-Goblin. I just wish they would release some more details so we have something to grasp onto.

lol...

all I can think of is at the two minute mark... just exchange "Proto Goblin" for "Gun"

LOL:woot:

If he does end up looking like a goblin, then that means we will not see Harry become GG2 or that we won't see Hobgoblin, cause that would be too many goblins.

If he stays human, but does have super powers, but no high tech goblin tech, then he would have to be Kraven.

not starting anything, but we never thought that a vultress would be made up...so this doesn't seem so far-fetched to me.
