Spider-Man (PS4) - Part 1

I'd love to have the chest logo like this.

I always preferred it this way.

Not that I don't like the Romita Sr symbol, I prefer this one:

Some info that largely brought back my faith on this game:

- in an interview Intihar said that not only are the not nearly done with refining stuff we saw, but they're even gonna flatout redo some elements to make it as perfect as they can. He also said that they will consider people's critiques in the development going forward

- Intihar's favorite Spiderman game is the ps2 SM2, so I think the web swinging will turn out better than it initially looked

I'm glad to hear that as well. I think with a possibility of a year or more to go before this game releases, people need not jump the gun. I can understand the worry about it cause we've waited for so damn long to finally get a AAA Spider-Man game, now that it's finally a reality we're all wanting nothing short of the best game. I feel confident knowing that Insomniac is working on this project. They'll commit due diligence in every aspect of this game.

According to GodzillaMendoza; E3 show displayed footage slower than it is in the game of Doom, so there is the chance that swinging for this video was slowed down to show how it moves.

It's easier to draw in a good looking way, that's why it lasted more than half of Spider-Man's age. When the older logo is drawn well, it looks fantastic.

They confirmed that the player swung slower so the helicopter would stay in frame. I'm sure that in their next showcase they'll show a more visceral style of swinging. And I bet they will show some of the stuff you can do in the city instead of another story set piece. My guess would be one stopping of crime and then something else that's unique to this Spider-man game

They just hired another animator from Naughty Dog after Mike Yosh joined last year.

Have your thoughts on the game changed now that they've revealed a bit more info? If I remember right you were a bit disappointed with what they showed at E3.

That's great, Naughty Dog animators are some of the best if not the best in the industry.

I'm cautiously excited. My number 1 concern is the webzips because they look off-putting, and for sure aren't physics based. I can forgive it though if the animatons are polished and maybe appear a bit more realistic

It's interesting because he was hired for the last 10 months of development on UC4. It could be the same path here, maybe they are reaching the last part of development cycle.

Could be! Nice find!

Being cautiously excited is a healthy mentally for upcoming games. :)

I understand the concern as I do think it could gel better with the web swinging from what they showed although I really like that you can leap off of a webzip point to keep your momentum going. I thought it looked fine in the stealth section.

Here’s what a former Marvel games manager thinks of Insomniac’s Spider-Man June 27, 2017

We were pretty blown away by Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man demo at E3 2017, which not only showed off some of the gameplay mechanics we can expect from its first web-slinging adventure, but also gave us some hints as to what we can expect from the plot. To the untrained eye, it looked amazing.

But what does someone who’s worked on the last five Spider-Man console games think about it?

Chris Baker was a manager in Marvel’s games division for seven years, specifically working to keep the games “on brand.” In other words, this is a guy with a encyclopedic knowledge of Marvel properties, and he seems to have a keen interest in Spider-Man in particular.

While not including much in the way of game design analysis, Baker does a great job of breaking down some of the smaller, Marvel-related details that might hint at what we can expect from the story. His thoughts on Mr. Negative, and how the Spidey-corrupting supervillain in the game differs greatly from his comic book counterpart and what that might mean for the game’s plot, is especially noteworthy.

Baker is the first to admit that the last Spider-Man game he worked on — Amazing Spider-Man 2 — was “not one of the best Spider-Man games of all time by any means,” so it’s clear from the offset that Baker isn’t biased except in his love for Spider-Man and Marvel comics in general. Overall, Baker’s thoughts on Insomniac’s take on the beloved wall-crawler are positive, if not just a teeny bit reserved, specifically when it comes to the actual web-slinging around the open world of New York City. But if you’re looking at an obsessive breakdown of potential background Easter eggs, give the analysis a watch:

Spider-Man is coming exclusively to PlayStation 4 sometime in 2018.

Peter Parkour indeed.

The more I listen to how Yuri Lowenthal sounds as Spidey, the more I get the vibe that he sounds like a proper mix of Neil Patrick Harris (the voice I prefer) and Josh Keaton, these two are the best when it comes to delivering quips, the current VA sounds like he's reaching there.

The game is taking inspiration from many games:
Arkham for stealth/Free Flow combat
God of War for QTE sections
Uncharted for big,scripted set-pieces
Spider-Man 2/Sunset Overdrive for traversal

Those are the ones that come to mind. Also MCU and Daredevil series are inspirations for the story.

Bit off-topic, but there is a fan made Spider-Man game being developed for Unreal Engine 4.

It looks really basic right now but they're trying to emulate Spider-Man 2's gameplay from the looks of it. Oh and it's completely free! :)

[YT]7a9s9zilpW8[/YT]

Sounds like they want a playable version of it out before Spider-Man PS4 comes out to ease the wait.

Before or after, this game looks nice, I personally want to play it, but the word free means there are strings attached.
Xavier Mendoza voicing Spidey is a neat idea, in his video voicing the character he sounds like if Mike Vaughn (Web of Shadows VA) was more pleasant to listen to.

this was just put up today, oh and don't ask why this report mentioned miles in the way she did below . she must not have gotten the message that miles isn't playable from the director of the game.

Spider-Man: Homecoming already gives us a glimpse of Peter Parker as a hero that makes use of more than just powers—but also his brains, too. The trailer has showcased a homemade Spidey suit, though we have yet to see what it truly hides underneath.
For those who will play Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man title for the PS4, the same ability to build his Spider-Man suit will be present. Insomniac Games has showcased a number of updates via Twitter, and one of the more interesting tidbits is this little costume building sideline.
Peter Parker uses his ingenuity and lab experience to build his own suit and tech. #SpiderManPS4 pic.***********/aA7lFIzYJo

Martin Li is a philanthropist, and runs the F.E.A.S.T. homeless shelters. Aunt May works for him at one of those shelters. #SpiderManPS4pic.***********/FoAulcHma3

Perhaps this ability will also explain just why the emblem on his Spidey suit has been upgraded to a white one, since Insomniac did state that this will have a significance in the game. To create the costume, he will use his “ingenuity and lab experience,” so I guess there’s no Tony Stark-like mentor for this version.
One other thing to note for Spider-Man is that Martin Li, philanthropist and villain known as Mister Negative in the comics, will be in the game. His background doesn’t seem to be changed too much, as he will still be running the F.E.A.S.T. homeless shelters, with Aunt May still assigned to one of the shelters under this organization.
Peter Parker has been Spider-Man for eight years, and is masterful at protecting the city. #SpiderManPS4 pic.***********/mWOT118HBZ

The good thing here is that, even with the ruthless villain like Li, Miles Morales as Spider-Man will still have some advantage up his sleeve. Specifically, that will be the experience he’s built up for eight years as the city’s Spider-Man. The developer even noted that he has become masterful at it (check out that short clip showing this):

Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man title for the PS4 does look very promising. It will explore a different side to Miles Morales as the web-slinger, and will showcase a new story and universe. It’s slated to arrive next year.

I believe I also read that there will indeed be romance/dating for Peter.

so please, PLEASE let that be MJ!!

hmm that'll be afirst. not sure how farthat will go but we'll see. . if this like RPG level to a certain degree I can see. we'll see.

I like how sporty he looks in this. Like Spidey outwear.

Yep, Daily Star interview.

And would that involve Mary Jane at all?

You will have a romantic interest and that’s all I’ll say...

They also confirm a weather system and couldn't answer if it effected gameplay.

Ok, so, will we have any moments at night in the city and will users experience different weather?

Yup and we have different stages of weather for sure.
And, does that affect the gameplay at all? Like if it's raining does it impact on gameplay?

We probably can’t talk about it too much for now and I’m probably going to get killed for saying that.
