Is there no gamescom this year or why is everyone saying PSX is the next possible showcase of the game?

Gamescom is a possibility. But since this is a PS exclusive one would assume they would show it off there and two unveilings in 6 month is a bit much, I think, considering how tight-lipped they've been on the game.

I still think we'll get a new trailer at PSX, maybe some sparse info/screenshots early 2018, one last big showcase at E3 2018, and then a release of Fall 2018.

Sony hasn't done Gamescom in 2 years. That could change but I wouldnt expect it based on this E3. They dont really have alot to show and 90% of the material here was old games. I cant see them doing another show in 3 months to just rehash these same games which arent coming out soon with different trailers. Waste of their money to even bother. PSX has become a staple for them and 6 months should be enough time to announce new material as well as give the early 2018 games a proper push.

Insomniac said the white spider had a deeper meaning, a purpose behind it. I have a theory, what other Spider-man character has a large white spider on his chest, think about it.:sym:

Not surprising. I wonder if there are any other skins they haven't touched yet, considering the Beenox games had A LOT of them (Edge of Time probably had the most).

Two I can think of are the Homecoming suit and the new 2099 outfit from the comics. I'm sure people who don't like the white parts in this game's default suit will LOVE that one. :o

Not a surprise but glad to know. I hope we get amazing Spider-Man 2 suit and the Spider-Man 1-3 suit and its black suite.

Now sounds good also if they do show it at the PSX by then with it being another 6 months they should have a better idea of if it is going to be a late 2018 or early 2018 game and also should have like more to show and update us on then if they show it at gamesom.

That was great the 90s show is what got me first into Spider-Man followed by the first movie and this should be the first good Spider-Man in like 7 years and maybe the first great one in like 12.

Spider-Man's Free-Roam Manhattan Area Will Be 'Four to Six Times Bigger' Than Sunset Overdrive:

How big is the world in Sunset Overdrive? I hope Manhattan will be close to size it was in Spider-Man 3 or bigger. It felt big and was wide.

I heard about this like 2 days ago but I am not really sure like how big that really is. How big is sunset overdrive compared to some other games like whitcher 3, Zelda BOTW, Horizon etc?

About swinging. Seems like they are going for a skill-based system, that's great.

Skill based? I'm concerned about how they keep describing the swing system. I've heard them say 'physics based' and 'momentum based' a bunch of times now, and I suspect they are just using words that were previously used to describe the SM2 system, which they know people liked.
The demo didn't look physics based or momentum based at all. Spider-man was basically floating at a constant pace, staying at almost level height, rather than accelerating as he drops into the swing and rising back up.

Agreed. Since there's still so much development time left I'd like it if more people critized these things so that Insomniac could take them into consideration.

And it's contradictory to justify the slow web swinging with realism while claiming the anti-gravity web zips are "just a nitpick"

So Spider-Man won a lot of Game of the Show awards:

I don't, I'd rather not see any movie costume in this one.
I really wish to see the classing chest logo as drawn by John Romita sr of all spider legs down, rather than the usual 4 up, 4 down.

I, for one, hope we get to see the new movie costume. It really grew on me. Bonus points for the eyes being animated just like the default costume (cause they obviously got the idea from the movie costume).

When I see the lenses for the new game in the frames I used as avatar, they seem to emote more than camera lens focusing. Check how the top of his lens rims bend.

They can still use the same animations for the movie one.

Go to 2:12 and you'll see the two handed swinging from SM2. This feature has never, I repeat never been in any game ever since and I don't understand why. A lot of players don't seem to even use the feature, but I would use it all the time.

This feature gave you a huge degree of control over your speed and trajectory. You could use it to suddenly change direction, slow down or come to a complete stop while still in the air. It was the best way to match the speed of a moving vehicle and time a drop onto its roof.

As long as you had buildings on both sides of you, you could transition from line to line without ever being untethered, as you can see in the video.

I think that's what the ex-Activision guy patented. US Patents are kind of ******ed (no offense) so I could see him being awarded something arbitrary like 2 handed web-swing.

Also I can't say it often enough: I can't believe we live in a timeline where we seem to be getting a AAA Spidey game that won dozens of GOTS awards + was crowned best trailer of E3?

Just let that sink in for a minute. I've also read a lot of impressions where people say it seemed to be the most polished demo they saw behind closed doors. A Spidey game that is a year away is more polished than most of the other big games.

I'm starting to believe this might be the one guys. The Spidey game we deserve. Our Arkham treatment.

I'm not surprised. Trailer slayed and reaction has been insane. This will be epic. Also, I don't want to live in 2004, thanks.

I assume you're responding to my post about 2 handed swinging. Why not include that feature in the new games? It gives you more control, and it's what Spider-man actually does.

The patent on the mechanic explains why it hasn't returned. That really sucks.

It's the only possible way to break midair.

Not responding to you per se, but I just find it funny that we are getting the first AAA Spidey game ever and some people are pining for a game that came out in 2004...We wont really know the full extent until we see more. I agree the mechanics in '04 were great, but I'm open- minded for something new.

I'm not pining for a game from 2004. If I want to play that game I will. If we're using a swing system that actually connects to buildings, there are only two options:

*1 handed swinging, where you have no way to slow down or change your trajectory mid swing.

*The choice to alternate between 1 & 2 handed swinging, where you can slow down and change your trajectory mid swing.

The second option gives you everything that the first option does, plus more. How can you possibly have a problem with that?

I don't. Nor do I something I haven't played.

I want something new as much as you do, but those are the only two options available. The second option is obviously better and I suspect it would have been used more if not for the patent on it.
