So I don't play many games that often. I really got into "Sleeping Dog's" My PS3 does it's job just fine but I can feel like i'm getting left out on stuff that looks interesting
Star Wars Battlefront PS4 for example
So for a newb like me. What makes this Spider-man PS4 game better than my Amazing Spider-man PS3 game?
The fighting is probably better.

From first glance the swinging looks pretty much the same.
Someone whose opinions on Spider-Man games are ones I agree with for the most part, yeah I heard of him.
I wouldn't call this game perfect, and I came to think that the first TASM game is pretty boring recently.
Perching and sticking people to walls happened in Web of Shadows.
Yeah, this game isn't really pushing the envelope in terms of innovation. It's largely derivative of all the past games. Same basic gameplay mechanics, same web swinging, same basic combat system from TASM. I think it's gonna be awhile before we get something that truly pushes the envelope and redefines what a Spider-Man game can be, like SM2 did at the time.Well, once again, there won't be any chain-swinging. Meaning: you can't shoot a second web line mid-swing. I really am flabbergasted by this.
EVERY single game since Spider-man 2 has been missing this feature. Every single one. I really don't get it. Spider-man is always depicted chain-swinging. It's the only way to possibly change your trajectory mid swing. There's a great example in the first Spider-man movie, where he uses a second line to prevent himself hitting the building:
skip to 1:14

I can't stress how much the absence of this small feature has disappointed me. I don't want to buy a ps2 just so I can experience accurate web swinging.

Web rush is the impression I got from their web zip animation.I meant perching like when he is crouched on a pole or a building corner. That started with Shattered Dimensions. This game looks like it adapted Web Rush too.
EEEYYYYYEEEESSSSSSSSSS.

Saying it's not inventive is not the same as saying it's bad. LOL.It's so derivative and bad, everyone who has played it is raving about it, getting awards left and right and being already considered a GOTY contender.![]()
Oh yeah, it kinda combines both SM2 and USM area maps. That's one big ass map this game has.

I mean there have been so many spiderman games, I'm not saying its impossible to reinvent the wheel when it comes to spiderman but there have been loads of great ideas surrounded by terrible games. I see nothing wrong with improving on what worked before.
Never said it was bad. Just that it's the same thing we've been getting since 2004. There's been no to attempt to try something new. This game is a mishmash of different elements from old games. Web rush, QTA and the combat system are all derived from TASM games. The web swinging is derived from all pre-TASM games. The wallrunning is derived straight from TASM (Looks the same way too)It's so derivative and bad, everyone who has played it is raving about it, getting awards left and right and being already considered a GOTY contender.![]()

That doesnt mean it's bad, the game looks polished to a tee and people are clearly loving it. But there's nothing new here. Every single thing in this game is derivative of old games. Particularly TASM games.
Like I said, it will be years before we get something truly inventive, something that pushes the envelope of a Spider-Man experience. I like the VR/First Person swinging idea that Gold Samurai suggested. It would be cool to get a completely new combat system, one where maybe it takes two or three hits take guys down. But most importantly, more complex web swinging mechanics with chain-swinging. Something more cinematic like the movies

I personally this game is being overrated and overhyped but hey, that's what people enjoy so I'll leave you guys be.Same old, same old Spidey
