Playstation Spider-Man (PS4) - Part 3

I hope it won't end to some cliffhanger. Arkham games didn't really have any big sequel bait either.

I didn't say a cliffhanger or big sequel bait, I just said sequel bait. Could be something on the same scale as the Joker card at the end of Batman Begins. And Arkham Asylum had this;

Also did one for Scarecrow and Croc, too.

This does more for me in terms of hype building. :D

Man, how I miss this show :csad:

Ontopic: I really hope we get a Goblin reveal for this game. While I found it cool that we're having a [BLACKOUT]full Sinister Six with Doc Ock leading them[/BLACKOUT] line-up, Goblin is one of the least portrayed character in games and that's a bit baffling to me given his relevance in the comics to Peter...

I blame the 90s. Specially the cartoon. Venom got uber popular, Doc Ock stayed in line as one of the top villains but Green Goblin got replaced by Hobgoblin in terms of main awareness for newcomers and people who grew up in that decade.

Yeah it is crazy how under used Green Goblin has been in video games. Particularly in those two great PS1 games, which were totally comic book based, and used a wide range of Spidey villains. Yet not a single Goblin was used between the two games. Not even Hobgoblin.

The mechanics in those two games didn't allow battling flying villains.

That's not true since Electro flew in the air in the second game. Especially in the final battle.

You had to trick him into bringing himself down, a trick like that doesn't work with the clever Goblins.

That's not the point. The fact is they had a flying villain. And a great boss fight could have been utilizing different strategies to knock Goblin off the glider and pummeling him. Something like the Mr. Freeze fight in Arkham City where you had to use different attacks each time to land punches on him.

And if the fight is something like 2:42 of this?

Just 3D, and you can't crouch to kick.

They would have really failed if they made the fight like that.

Yeah I'm kinda surprised we've never had a proper classic Green Goblin in a game. In the last 20 years we've the closest we've have gotten is either the first movie game or an alternate reality version like Ultimate Spider-Man and Shattered Dimensions.

We did get a more modern/classic Green Goblin in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. =)

I remember seeing his lair in the 2000 video game and was really hoping he'd pop up in some secret boss battle. Oh to be a foolish young child.

Another reason why I want Goblin to be the main villain and that rumor to be bs.
Set Ock up for the sequel.

Norman is at the very least a mention in this game--he's running for Mayor or public office if I remember correctly. So, there's a good chance the Goblin will show up either in this game or the next.

That said, I am ecstatic about the possibility of Ock being the 'surprise' villain, for a couple of reasons. One, since the game is doing the S6, Ock is well-known as the leader and using him in that aspect, imo, is the right thing to do. I'd much rather have the genius and ego of Ock running the group than Norman. Two, while GG is my personal favorite Spidey villain, Ock is my second. They're Spider-Man's best two villains...anyone who says Ock is their number one fav totally makes sense to me as he's as much of a threat and such a great, evil character--one of the all-timers. For me, getting either one of these as the main baddie for this game and then have the other for the next would be awesome news however since the 6 are in this, I'd prefer to have it be Ock. Mah two cents.

It's really something that the only Spider-man game that Green Goblin was the only main villain in was the first movie game. Doc Ock, Venom, Kingpin and even Mysterio have been the main villains in games more than Green Goblin.

I don't think there's anything preventing both GG and Ock to be in the game. Seems like Insomniac is going all in from game 1, perhaps we'll see Goblin's origins? Bryan Intihar stated Goblin doesn't exist at the start of the story.

that's a cool idea, having both. Especially the Goblin origin part. I definitely get this feeling like there is some big ambitious story aspect lurking under the surface of this game

And it's not like it reduces their chances of making a good sequel

Yup, I mean they used Joker in every single Arkhan game so Goblin or others could have the same fate.

Using Ock in this one and GG in the second one kinda makes sense if they want the second game to go bigger. I mean, not that GG is so much bigger than Ock, but he probably has more excitement behind him due to questions like "When will Norman put on the mask?", "How will he look/sound like?", etc.

Plus if the map is any indication, they're already planning ahead. I remember when this game was announced thinking "Wait, how can you do a sequel? You're not starting Spidey in an asylum and moving him to a whole island, you're starting with a whole island." Now it turns out only part of Manhattan is available. Stuff like that I think shows they want to leave room for more to come after this.

When was this said? we've seen the map, the entire island is open to us. If they want to expand it for a sequel they could add Queens and/or Brooklyn.

In the map shown in the game, only a part of Manhattan was highlighted in the yellow box. Maybe you can expand the map as the game progresses but it looks like you at least don't start out with the entire map available.

It might seem like a dissapointment to get only a part of Manhattan, but not if the part we get is as big as that part is in real life. This game looks far more detailed than any of the other Spider-Man games so a part of Manhattan from this game might be just as long or longer than the whole Manhattan in the other games.

The whole Manhattan is available in the game. E3 demo only had part of it.

To be fair, I don't recall Doc Ock being in many Spider-Man games in the past. When was the last time he appeared in video game? Spider-Man 2?

He was in Edge of Time
