Playstation Spider-Man (PS4) - Part 3

I'm one of those weird people that liked pretty much all of the nonpowered character missions. The stealth mechanics were just pretty basic so I enjoyed the change of pace in the narrative, maybe there was too much of it, but I liked them.

I liked the Miles missions more. I especially had fun with the one where you had to hide from Rhino.

I like stealth missions usually. I'm a big fan of The Last of Us. That game involves a lot of sneaking around and hiding. But the MJ ones lacked any real tension or interesting tasks.

I agree that Miles' one with Rhino is the best of the non Spidey stuff.

Oh yeah, that one was really cool. A great feeling of being on the other side of a supervillain when you're powerless. I think that and the best MJ missions were the Grand Central one, along with Osborn's penthouse.

Weak selection for the final DLC.

What in the **** is up with their ****ing ***** for armors?

I like the cyborg Spidey suit but I think one thing that could have been a really nice touch was if they fully 90s-ized the Spidey suit more with big Larsen eyes+lots of webs on the suit instead of just using the same base one.

People should just stop about the Raimi suit. It's obvious to a blind dog that Insomniac has their hands tied in this case and that Sony is not allowing the suits in to, most likely, promote the current big picture iteration of the franchise.

Inb4 TASM1/2 had them: that was a completely different scenario, the games were done by Activision via the movie license that Sony Pictures handed out and not the current full & proper license.

Well, in this case I'd venture to say it's Marvel being the road block, not Sony. All game decisions for any type of content have to go thru both Sony and Marvel. I remember a while back someone from Insomniac said there was a panel of people at Marvel that would review any ideas presented for the development of the game. That's probably why we have all 3 of the MCU suits and no Raimi or TASM ones.

No Raimi suit is a bummer, but the Insomniac response was more notable. It seemed unreasonably short, and leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth. It's like Insomniac are annoyed by paying customers badgering them about how they want to give them more money. Don't become hostile to the rabid fans when you could have squashed this months ago by flat out saying no. A cynical man would say they decided to keep quiet until the last possible moment so that more hopeful fans would buy the season pass. It could well be licensing issues that take the Raimi suit off the table, however if this is the case then Insomniac should have just said so when the first person asked.

Raimi suit aside, I can't say it dampened expectations, cause Silver Sable kinda sucks anyway. This trailer isn't doing her any favours either. I fear this DLC will end things on a sour note. The base game was great fun but this bonus content is dull.

Ya know what I thought would have been a good compromise, and neat homaging to the symbiote suit? A skin of the symbiote suit that used cloth and fabric textures. See itiwouldn't be the actual symbiote, but the fabric version Peter wore after he got rid of the symbiote.

I doubt Insomniac refused to put it in just to be jerks. Most likely someone who has final say at Disney/Marvel doesn't want previous movie incarnations sharing the spotlight with their current series. We didn't get either TASM suits too, they weren't nearly as demanded as the Raimi one but they have their fair share of fans also.

I gained respect now for Warner Bros for not caring or worrying about Burton and Nolan Batman's being in Arkham Knight overshadowing Batfleck which was also in the game and BVS was releasing a few months later.

There's a difference between fans being persistent about wanting something and expressing how much it would make them happy to include it, versus fans being complete impatient, a-holes pestering them with accusatory messages.

Insomniac is not in charge. They are the developer. There's a very good chance they were given specific direction to not say anything with regard to certain things.

As much as people may not like Insomniac's tone in their recent responses...I can only imagine the kind of crap they have to deal with from the idiot unreasonable impatient masses. Players may hate Screwball but that's only one character in the game. I'm sure Insomniac has thousands of 'Screwballs' they are dealing with. My two cents.

To think that a company, Marvel, would be somehow threatened by putting a suit in a video game--that it might hurt their MCU earnings is beyond ridiculous. Imo, announcing the Raimi suit would at the very least have improved sales for the game.

Just finished the game I know I’m late to the party lol. It was awesome can’t believe it took me so long to get round to it.

Loved the story and the experience of just swinging through New York was amazing spent a good few hours just doing that.

Only complaints would be the MJ missions which I imagine has probably already been beaten to death in this thread lol but oh my god they are terrible. Wish we had seen more of Rhino, Scorpian and Vulture as well.

Can’t wait for the sequel whenever that will be I haven’t even got round to Read Dead 2 yet but after playing this and God of War 2018 has definitely been one of my favourite years for gaming.

While I don't disagree with any of that, I don't think this is a particularly extreme case of consumer entitlement either. At worst it's annoying, however it could have been squashed easily if Insomniac commented on the requests earlier, ideally before becoming indignant over the matter. The Raimi suit question was floating around long before the game released, and we're knee-deep in details about the third DLC now. I'm not surprised the fan-chatter has become more sour of late. One things fans hate in particular is not feeling heard. Insomniac managed to dodge any potential gag-orders with that recent comment, so you could presume they could have done it sooner.

It is annoying, Insomniac said they were listening in regards to fans asking for certain suits, and out of all the DLC suits, only one or two actually fall into the category of the fans asking for them, almost all the most highly requested suits were just left untouched. I don't care if it's the Raimi suit (personally would prefer one of the TASM suits myself), but that only one of the highly requested suits (Comics Iron Spider) made it into the DLC just makes it feel like Insomniac was lying to the fans faces when they said they were listening, transparency on Insomniac's part in regards to just one or two suits not being in the DLC could've made this go over a lot better than it is, it certainly would've averted the current fiasco.

Sometimes people are really ungrateful. Insomniac made a hell of a game and all these children do is complain about a damn suit. I'm sorry they have to deal with this crap.

This. Insomniac spent years, and countless man hours making a truly great entry to the video game world and the ever growing spiderman mythos. They heard everyone crying for the raimi suit. I'm sure there are people at the studio who wanted it in, but its not there. I'm sure they have their reasons. We don't always get what we want, life is real funny that way.

What's with this talk about people being 'ungrateful?' Insomniac is a business. It's not like they just made this game out of the kindness of their hearts and handed it out on street corners. They made a product, the consumer gives them money. That's the transaction. No one is required to be grateful. Businesses want customer feedback, they spend millions on market research. And if not for the feedback after the E3 demo, this game wouldn't have had fast web swinging, the charge jump, or new game+. Those were all suggestions made by the fans.

That being said, I don't really mind that the Raimi suit isn't present. But I understand the frustration. If they said from the beginning that the suit wouldn't be there, it never would have escalated to this level. Instead, they chose to give the fans false hope, most probably to make more money on the DLC. And to make it more insulting, they put nearly 40 suits in the game, most of which are garbage.

It's because it's a business that there will always be some kind of limitations. I'm grateful because they spent years of hard work to make a product that I adore, the lack of a stupid suit doesn't change that, nor does it mean they should be attacked or offended by people acting like children on social networks.

I understand how this can be perceived as annoying and I empathize with those that feel frustrated by this however this is not a case of Insomniac not listening. If they weren't listening we wouldn't have gotten certain in-game improvements while under development--see Slang's excellent post. And while certain suits may have been from fan input, others like the Raimi suit or other movie suits have licensing issues. But beyond all of that, the real caveat here is that Insomniac may not be saying anything because they CAN'T say anything. All it would take is an NDA from Marvel and Insomniac wouldn't be able to breathe a word about it. So, all those "well if they would have just come forward from the beginning and said this or that" is meaningless if their hands or in this case their lips are tied. Insomniac has been upfront about everything I believe they have been able to be upfront about. It just sucks that there is THIS much of an issue being presented over one friggin' suit. Now, I'm not all that crazy about the suit selection but it hardly does enough damage to the overall excellence of this game. Let's try and be thankful for this wonderful AAA Spidey game that 5-6 years ago was a mere wish.

At this stage I am so over the Raimi suit drama. In fact I am fed up of it. If we get it, then great. If not then that's a real shame, but the game is still awesome regardless.

This.

I'm not as big a fan of the Raimi suit as many others seem to be and so I'm less invested in the outcome here. And although I do empathize with those that love it--after all it could be some or many fans favorite iteration of Spider-Man, imo, it's not worth all this drama. Insomniac, I feel certain based on how they've listened to fans with regard to this game on other things, probably would have loved to put this suit in the game...but it's not their decision. And for all we know, they still may be pursuing the use of the Raimi suit. There's always the possibility they could add a 'movie suit' pack in a later update...

What else do you think it could be?

Well, I really hope that if Marvel decided not to include the Raimi or even TASM suits in the game, it is NOT because of that particular reason. That's just dumb imo.

Marvel and Sony appear to have a better working relationship presently than years past so I'm not really sure what may be going on here. In all honesty, I don't think they could have anticipated the amount fans that were pining for a Raimi suit. It's entirely possible they remain so tight lipped about it because it could be a surprise addition at a later date with more updates...I dunno. Insomniac's tweet about not including it comes across less as them being intentionally harsh to the fans and more like they are just frustrated themselves. Here they are working their collective butts off to bring us one helluva game and despite all their efforts, there's a faction of fans that are consistently whining over one little suit. The game isn't perfect and could definitely use some improving but as far as I'm concerned the drama surrounding the Raimi suit is quite ridiculous.

The way they depicted Miles in the new movie is so much better than in this game. I didn’t really care for it to begin with but now I really felt like it was a weak characterization.
