Especially when it really wasn't even Raimi but Arad that trainwrecked the franchise. Just like how the one producer at Fox destroyed X-Men because she preferred Jean to be with Wolverine.

Wasn't that only the third film though? I think when Chaseter mentions the people hating on Raimi, it's the people who hated his overall vision. Basically just about everything in his films, not just the third film.
Well I hate Raimi for what he did to Peter P/Spider Man's character and power, MJ, and for that stupid movie called Spider-Emo movie
I might get shot here for this, but I actually was kind ok with the "Emo" sequence for as much as I wasn't a fan of the film overall. And here's why, and probably has a lot to do with my some hate Raimi's take on the series in the general. The whole series has a silly never really taking itself too seriously tone to it. And that emo sequence was them basically parodying the Rain Drops sequence from 2. Now the rest of the time Peter was dark and angry was pretty lame.
You are implying (intentionally or not) that Raimi paints with very simplistic strokes when it comes to his character development (or lack therefore of). His characters come off as very simplistic almost as caricatures of themselves. They lack depth or "greys" if you will, they are simply black or white.
Raimi goes overboard to the point of HITTING you over the head with his direction. Instead of showing us a complex Peter that (yes is a nerd or dorky at TIMES) he goes overboard and Peter is NOTHING but a clutz. Or IN LOVE with ONE girl to the point of codependency, etc. OR, his "Dark Peter" comes off as Emo pathetic Parker, as opposed to truely dark.
Raimi's approach is as subtle as a sledgehammer in character development (pity the JJ caricature) to his use of cheesy moments (at critical times).:
It is refreshing to see a better Director in Webb have a turn at giving us Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
And yes, if he blows it, I will be just as critical if NOT more. But here's hoping and praying he does not... "blow it".
Yes, and it's quite sad because some of them used to praise Raimi to no end before S-M3.Are there a lot of people on here that hate Raimi across the whole series?

Exactly. It's all part of a stupid bandwagon. It's funy how whenever we say this, they never respond.More than likely ALL of them were praising Raimi before Spider-Man 3, and more than likely ALL of them undoubtedly have all three DVDs sitting on there shelves.
I just find it hilarious, as I have since SM3 came out, that people who used to praise parts 1 and especially part 2 (which was borderline perfect Spidey), ha racanted saying that they really weren't aware of how horrible the first two films were until the internet told them.

they shouldve gone with bigger and rounder eyes methinks. to me thats what the biggest fault of theis costume is. they eyes just look stupid. make them almost round and embiggen them twice the size and youve got a perfect costume!

Not everybody critisizing Raimi's movies were praising them before SM3. I never liked the first one and, as good as SM2 is (amongst my favourites of the genre), I can say one or two things against it.
Thing is I never cared about coming here just to vent and I always focused more in liking what I liked instead of disliking what I didn't. I spent 2 weeks in the SM3 forums though, complaining about it. Then I left and didn't come here too often.
It wasn't until the reboot news that I started coming here regularly.
Yeah, I don't visit this board enough to know that split of Raimi love vs hate. Probably based on my love for the first two and loathe of the third I assumed that was a consensus view here. Are there a lot of people on here that hate Raimi across the whole series?
Well said. While I certainly like alot of things in the old Spidey movies, there are also alot that I absolutely hate in them and I hope that Webb & Sony have learned what to do and what not to do in this reboot.
