is that a spider-man dogtag? I want one!

edit: also, where did you get the mask from?

second time you've said that to someone..u have a ass web fetish or something?

jk :oldrazz:

It's the most important thing to bring up when someone mentions organic webbing and how it's "logical" for Peter to have it, when it's not logical at all, lol.

Really? I don't see it. Maybe it's the reflective lenses.

It is. The only time I've seen Spider-man with black reflective lenses was in the second season of the 1977-79 TV series.

I hate organic webbing as well. It just doesn't make sense that Peter was able to create webbing inside him and shoot it out through his wrist. The other abilities did nothing to his organs from what we can rely on, but the webbing factor would mess up his inner "workings", imo.

I never liked that either. Why from the wrists? Is it a new gland or something? It was needless.

The only reason I like organinc webbing is: without it, all petes powers would be are wall climbing, super strength, and spider-sense.

And those are Spider-man powers. What's exactly wrong with it?

Yeah, they used to have those that looked like that at Islands of Adventure, I have one too.

yup that is a Spidey dogtag form the Spidey store from Marvel Super Hero Island and Universal Studios Island's of Adventure.

That particular one was from waaay back in 2000 and styled after the 90s series.

the ones they have now artistically look like a cross between the raimi films and the comic books.

and I got my mask with the costume I got from Disguise Costumes:

also in case anyone missed it (since it was the last post on page 1) the reason i posted these pics was cause I was saying I feel that bigger eyes/lenses can work on film if done right. They work on the mask I have imo

Him not being able to have organic webbing is something that I chart up as a full mutation never happened and he'd only have that ability if he ever turned into a man-spider as shown in TAS. Thus, him creating a webbing-like formula fits more with Spider-Man.

man being bitten by spider and being able to crawl up walls makes no less sense than man bitten by spider and able to spin webs.

Think of it from a film makers or GA point of view, the audience is accepting of the reality where a kid has super powers from being bitten by a spider, why waste screen time and risk pushing the audience too far with something like: Peter Parker, the man who coincidentally was able to craw walls after being bitten by a spider, being the only man on the planet able to invent web shooters. It's asking the audience to accept a lot of coincidences.

from a film makers point of view organics make a lot of sense. If you want to look at them from 'making sense' in the context of the story, producing his own web makes no less sense than crawling walls.

You don't really know he was affected on a medical level and we don't really need to, You can't explain everything rationally in Spider-Man, getting powers from being bitten by a spider is not rational on any level, there are no rules to what a spider bite can do as it's pure fiction with no basis in reality.(with good reason as that would make the film boring as ****)

sure i understand people preferring one or the other but what i don't understand is people saying they are illogical or out of place in the context of the story when they clearly aren't.

It makes him more spider than man too, tbh. Organics are just gross.

the organics makes sense but I just prefer peter's genius inventing what his powers didn't give him. it tells the reader/viewer very quickly that peter is very very smart.

like in IM, tony stark making the arc reactor out of scraps tells the audience that his man is more than capable of making an iron man armour.

now in a sequel if and when peter makes spider tracers the audience will buy it because he has already created something complex.

There's just one thing that (to me) says that organics don't make sense...

Fair enough, he has organic webbing...

But why would the spinneret multiply by 2 and develop in his wrists? In spiders, they're specific to a part of the body, so why wouldn't they transfer to exactly that (or the next closest part) part in Peter's body?

One thing I don't get about organics is how do you justify his mutation stopping at web-glands? Why doesn't he also grow extra limbs, eyes, fangs, etc. Why can't he also produce poison? Why just webbing? Organics just raise too many questions for me.

Organics only makes sense if he's able to spin a web where a spider can.

Him being bitten on his hand, then having spinnerets show up on his wrist is hilariously dumb.

I will never understand how it can be better in a filmmaker's point of view as it just doesn't even make sense on all levels.

what would happen if spidey didn't use his webs for a month? would he has a 'wet dream' and wake up covered in goo. ha ha.
thank goodness the mechs are in this movie.

This is one of my reasons. To grow these glands, it, at least to me, shows a HUGE step into a full mutation into a spider. That is one step into becoming the Man-Spider from TAS.

which would make an awesome movie.

which would make an awesome movie.

It would, yes. If we were able to get a long-lasting series of Spider-Man films, then we could very well see Spider-Man mutating into Man-Spider, which would be pretty damn awesome, imo.

I mean, with strength, speed, agility and spider-sense, no where in that combo shows me that Peter could ever change into something different, but with organic webbing? THAT does.

I also wondered why he didn't get glands near his ankles if he was going to get them near his wrists.

Something that I think is relevant to the discussion, and I agree, it makes him a lot more spider than man... and a lot more of a freak, imo.

From the script of James Cameron's Spider-Man, it was awful, but I agree with this part.

STRAND: I want this to work out. You're a smart kid. Like those phony bracelets. That was a good idea.

PETER: (alarmed) What are you talking about?

Strand puts his hands on Peter's shoulders.

STRAND: Son. I know your secret. See... I had the web material you left all over my living room analyzed. It's real spider silk.

He grabs Peter's wrist and rips off the fake wrist-shooters. Looks closely at his wrists. Bends the hand back, forcing the spinneret to poke out a little. Mary Jane looks a little shocked at that one. Peter sees the fear in her eyes and his will seems to collapse. He sees the everything she feels for him changing in a second. It's true. He is a freak. He is no longer human.

STRAND: You can take off the costume, but you will always be the Spider Man.

SPIDER MAN: It's just Spider Man.

*shudder*

I love cameron but that script treatment was a disgrace.

James Cameron is a *****ebag, but I love this bit of dialogue.

And it's true...with organic webbing, Peter is much more of a "freak" than the other abilities the spider gives him.

Lol...Cameron giving different names to Electro and Sandman.

I do think it was wrong he didn't get a script mention

'we're exception'

'misery, misery, misery'

all cameron's dialogue.
