Unless this entire film is focused entirely on his shoes, close up, slo-mo HD and filmed with an Imax camera...

I could honestly care less.

I could take your apathy to be in line with your location and username, but, because of the appropriateness of your statement, it just has to be said; You win at this thread.

Thank you.

Don't thank me. Thank Thread Manager. Right after I made that statement, they closed the thread. So you literally won haha.

Yes. In fact if they're not going to put the Empire State in every shot they better put a cardboard with that building painted on with crayons and I'll be happy!

Like I said, I'm going to try and overlook the shoes. As long as the film is good, I'm happy.

Thread Manager wears silver shoes

Because we all know anyone creative enough to put silver shoes on Spider-man has got to be brilliant director.

...or mechanical webs-shooters, yucky!

I guess there's always gonna be a small price to pay...I for one will gladly pay it.

Fans confuse me sometimes.... So is anyone concerned or curious about how they actually portray Spider-Man as a character, or is the colour of the lining of his shoes more of a priority?

Why are you confused?
This isnt the character thread or the portrayal thread. Its the costume thread. Where we discuss the costume. Yes I care about the story and character arcs but this is the place to talk about the costume.

Because no one processes the information about the costume. It never gets any further than "They changed the costume. It doesn't look like the classic costume. That is good/bad."

How about discussions on what the focus on the whole costume can mean? Are these changes purely aesthetic, just a design choice with no explanation regarding it, if so what is that indicative of regarding the narrative and tonal angle of this film?

Are they NOT purely aesthetic, in which case is it because this is a home made costume, using a wetsuit or something. Is it all actually one piece, or are there individual segments? If that is the case, will we see a more real portrayal of the character, how he actually goes about being a superhero, the affects it has on him?

And in failing all that, how about simply not fulfilling the irony of the thread name and simply just saying more than "OMFGWTFFML, SILVER SHOES!"

Hence why I feel that costume threads are a waste of time...especially having not seen the film. Judging a suit by a few pics and not by the film is a huge disadvantage....I remember the outrage the internet had over the first pic of Heath Ledger's Joker...yet after the movie came out people have declared him the definitive Joker.

I don't think they're a waste of time, they just never amount to anything interesting. It's interesting to speculate over these images, treat them something to examine. Where it gets lame is when speculation quickly becomes fact in the collective consciousness and then before you know it the whole film gets distilled down to "Meh, Silver shoes" or "Meh, Too many straps" or "Too sci-fi".

Nothing could ever be too Sci-Fi.

I'm sure alot of real spider-man fans are concerned especially after seeing his idiotic costume, but since no real information has been leaked, how exactly would you expect them to debate a subject no one knows anything about?

The costume matters more than some people want to think. If Spider-Man wore a wife beater and ski-mask but by gollies they got the character perfect...the movie would be terrible.

How much does the costume really matter after The Dark Knight, seriously, we're talking an almost 100% redesign of Batman's classic suit?

Me and many others have stated way too many times that there are no visible reasons for the changes. And even so I'm sure you don't necessarily need to go to silver shoes to explain things.

Why there are no actual webs? If he could draw those lines he could as well draw webs instead of lines.

but the changes to the TDK suit made sense within the context of the movie
