Guys,

The original reports that Wall Street Journal said that the deal fell through and that was just some kind of co-operation with Sony retaining creative control of solo flicks.

You may like Raimi's flicks, Webb's, none or both but Spider-Man is the highest grossing solo superhero franchise (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest-grossing_films) and for merchandise though that is for Superheros .

Look at X-Men, Fox stopped the decline that started after X3 and got Days Of Future Past e to make like 730 million.

Why would Sony give up their big franchise? They still made big profit even if they didn't make $1 Billion

Spidey could be in a team up movie like we used to get Marvel Team Up in the comics. I don't know which one of the phase 3 movies could do that though, but maybe phase 4, so that they don't have to be completely Spidey solo movies, as we've had plenty of those already. Make it more like the Cap movies where, in Cap 2 and 3 he has plenty of other Marvel Universe guest stars (eg Black Widow, Falcon, Iron Man, Black Panther etc).
I like the idea of not having Spidey alone in any of his movies. Even if they're just cameos, it makes a huge difference. That's a big way Marvel can differentiate from Sony's 5 films.

I liked RedBlueWonder better... He was cooler, he would have been on board with this. :o

Thats what I suggested before:
A Spiderman movie series with heroes as his supporting cast.
Works well for the Cap Franchise.

My choice for heroes would be the Defenders

Exactly

I'm fine with Spidey not having a solo movie until Phase 4, as long as he cameo's in the CW and IW movies. I think that would be their safest bet. Then, they already have the new face of their franchise established, somewhat, and ready for a full on reboot in 2019- 2022. His origin movie could even take place before his first cameo appearance, the entire movie as a flashback.

I would be willing to wait 5-6 years, if it means getting Spidey right. The important thing is to get him right.

There's always a possibility that if Marvel gets a hold of Spidey, they'll be using him as the face of Phases 4-6. I'd still be okay with that... Better than nothing. Some quick cameo appearances of Spideyverse characters would make us know Peter is coming. Imagine Bruce Banner saying he did some research with a Doctor Connors? Or the Daily Bugle came up somewhere in the MCU? That would be so cool!

My idea is that an MCU Spiderman movie should not have appearances by any of the major Marvel players (that should be saved for Avengers films) but that there should be appearances from minor MCU characters. The example I have already cited is Peter seeing a news report on President Ellis (from Iron Man 3) visiting New York City, either just on a regular Presidential visit or meeting with the United Nations. Another suggestion is one of Peter's college professors is Erik Selvig. Or Spidey is injured and taken care of by Claire Temple (played by Rosario Dawson in Daredevil). Or Peter is in his college library and picks up a book called "The Adventures of the Howling Commandos" and on the cover are these guys:

An MCU Spiderman film doesn't need Bruce Banner, Steve Rogers or Tony Stark. Other ideas could include him working at the Daily Bugle and one of his colleagues is Christine Everhart.

Because he hates the idea of a shared universe and gets upset when people hate on X-Men / Fantastic Four.

He got suspended from here once after I called him out for his assumption that all MCU fans believe that the MCU is perfect (which is not and still isn't even after the movie announcements). After that assumption, I called him out on it, explaining to him all the issues I have with the MCU (IM 3, too much emphasis on the humans in Thor: TDW, lack of diversity in their movies which has been fixed etc.)

Letting Spidey rest until he is back with MARVEL or MARVEL controls all things Spidey in the movies is for the best. Sony can suck it

Latino Review says that a deal with Marvel could still happen because Sony Japan is open to allowing it to happen.

My opinion is the current franchise is taken over by Sony but is featured in Avenger flicks. Just being realistic.

What kind of pull does Sony Japan have over Sony Pictures? I'm confused how that will all play out?

I like Marvel alot but not everything they did was a smashing hit. Sure ASM2 didn't meet expectations or end up being the best Spidey film but reaction were still pretty positive.

Same could be said for say IM3, Thor 1 and 2, Cap 1... We know the story for IM2 and TIH. Not saying ASM2 at all was as well liked as I liked it, but it still has a good fanbase like said films above.

Studios do not make better films, writers and directors do.

Sony Japan is the big boss....I think

The original article revealed he got Seth Rogen to tone down [IThe Interview][/I]. Had the leak revealed what Latino Review is "saying" then I think what some folks are talking about has some credibility.

I hope. If they carry the most pull we might actually see this thing pan out.

Again, that's if Latino Review is correct but the leaked E-Mails had 0 on this.

Mighty how convenient the source tells us this after the leak and not any other time.

Sony Pictures is still in panic/chaos/lockdown mode. They've got FBI agents all over their studios and no one knows anything. It will be a while before the dust settles, but, if Sony Corp is smart, they'll clean house at Sony Pictures once its said and done. If Pascal keeps her job after this then they deserve to go down in flames... hard.

If Sony Japan has more power. Why even let Sony have a summit ? Why cant the Sony Japan guys make the deal ?

I'm as skeptical of those Latino Review reports myself as I am about Badass Digest's reports of Carol Danvers showing up during the reshoots of Avengers 2.

They gotta have some sort of a business meeting to be able to write off their golfing.

If Sony Japan wants something to happen, Sony Pictures has to do it. Sony Japan is the boss here and it's been reported that Kaz Hirai has been the one pushing for cost cuts at the studio, to putting the Sony logo on all Sony movies regardless of the label (Columbia, TriStar, Screen Gems, etc.), onto of interfering with movies such as Amazing Spider-Man 2 (like getting rid of Peter's dad being alive and telling them that some things don't make sense).
