I would hope that the Sony Japanese executives are seeing how badly the mismanaged Sony Pictures is damaging the Sony name as a whole. In the wake of these leaks, something needs to be done from up top. It is a legitimate crisis.

The dude from Latino Review was stressing that his source specifically stated that the Sony Japan Execs are most concerned with a "return to quality" (which apparently are exact words from the source) so it looks like they're seeing things our way and hopefully things are gonna go our way!

Get this deal done, get rid of Pascal and Arad, make some ****ing money. Clearly, Sony's CEO has to lay down the Mjolnir on Columbia pictures. This is money being left on the table otherwise.

I think Sony is going to see more dollar signs in a deal with Marvel than they will on their own. That alone should push them to do it.

Sony is pretty notorious for going over budget, did you know TASM was supposed to be shot for roughly 78 mil?

I don't know where you heard that asm1 was going to be made form 78 million but that is not true and I don't think that is even possible to make a sm movie for that cheap now days.

If marvel get sm when dose everyone think we will get are first solo sm movie?

Phase 4 but he would appear in phase 3 if he is obtained after the summit

That's why my ideal situation would be spidey under Disney/Marvel's control at Sony, so we wouldn't have to wait until phase 4 for more spidey (I hope I don't sound like a brat there). Sony needs to seriously change their ways though before they're given creative influence in the MCU. Hopefully changes are made

Thankfully MARVEL is not stupid. They want the Creative Control over the character. Or they can laugh while Sony crashes & burns

If Marvel does create a new Spidey to use in the appearances @ Phase 3 I hope the way they'll introduce him doesn't look too far-fetched/out of nowhere, since they won't be able to make a solo movie right off the bat.

So how much power would the Sony Japan Execs have ? Surely if they want a deal made. They can just make the deal themselves & tell Sony 2 **** off ? If these guys are higher up the Sony food chain. I don't see the problem here

Marvel would be crazy to make a deal that didn't involve them getting creative control over the character.

Marvel needs to have that control for it to work, and sony should be grateful that they're offering. They'll make spidey a billion dollar franchise again, I think that's almost guaranteed

I'd imagine if they wanted something, no Arad can stand in their way (but I know very little about the biz)

But there will have already been an Avengers 1 + 2 at that point...?

I think what's great about that "Japan scoop" is that Japan is full of nerds :D And if they - the higher ups - are going to decide what's happening next, I think it's a sure thing we'll get a crossover ;)

From Sony's point of view the question is this;

Do they make more money from a 700m picture footing ALL of the bill (including marketing) but taking ALL of the return.

or

Do they make more from 1.1 billion movie, and you can almost guarantee that is what a Marvel Spider-Man movie would make especially if he makes a cameo in CW before his solo movie. But front up the entire cost of marketing and distribution (and make no mistake Sony would want this included in the deal) but only pay half of production (with Marvel/Disney paying the other half).

A long story short, Sony would be gambling that a smaller cut of a bigger pie is greater than a larger cut of a smaller pie.

We need one last hack of the January summit meeting.

Audiences will flip because they won't even know he's a character that has ever co-existed with the likes of Cap, Thor, etc.

Sony keeps it going any longer and he'll be labeled a nothing character.

Spiderman a "nothing character" ? That will never happen even though his movies arent the best he is still widely recognized and loved and im sure from cartoons and many comics and hell even pictures everyone and there mom knows spiderman coexist with other marvel superhero. Thats part of the reason why 100% of the fanbase plus the GA want him in the MCU.
