We all knew it was going to happen, and it was essentially shoehorned in. I give props to Garfield, he was great in the scene, And the visuals were very nice as well. But yea, if TSSM did Gwen's death, it would've been absolutely heartbreaking! Sadly we'll never know if they would've gone that route :csad:

If Marvel gets the spidey franchise,we just might get to.

Maybe Sony can throw in the rights to Spectacular if they finally make the deal with Marvel Studios? Greg Weisman is currently off Rebels (another Disney property)... :cwink:

I'd like to think there's a slim chance they'd keep Garfield

Eh it wouldn't be in anyone's best interest to keep Garfield. They're going to wipe the slate clean, thankfully, because that version of the Green goblin needs to be erased from existence. They're gonna have to start from scratch, and I'm more than fine with that.

I think if Marvel Studios gets it Garfield and Field will be history. MS doesn't seem to want to associate their well loved brand with the baggage that is Sony's Spider-man franchise.

It should have never come into existence

What were they thinking

Sony's design of the Goblin is proof that they don't know what they are doing with this franchise.

So when will we know the results of the Spidey summit? After Christmas/ New Year? Or before? Marvel will have to start shooting Civil War early next year. Sony Japan need to move this along and take charge, especially if Sony pictures are dragging their heels and Avi Arad is clinging on for dear life.

Late January if anything comes out of it would be my guess

I mean, official stuff may not come for months, but reports will come out

I think even for Sony it would be best if they either give the rights back or - more likely - co-operate with Marvel for the next Spiderman movie!
(Do not think, that they give the rights back, as they mentioned, that Spiderman is there only "big deal")

I think it is logical, because even Sony knows, that the next Spiderman movie will be a "difficult one", with many risk to take - so, why not share this risk?!

I am soooo happy, that the Amazing Spiderman series seems to come to an end! For me it was terrible to watch... really terrible! Could not even mention one good thing about them...

And if i think back at these "romantic movies" Spiderman 1 and 2 i would say "Marvel - PLEASE do finally ONE great Spiderman CBM"! I know they can do that...
Please stop Sony making "Love-Spiderman-Movies" or "terrible Amazing Spiderman movies"!
Sony failed with every Spiderman movie till now (even, if the first two where actually great movies overall - but i want to see a CBM, not a love story)!!

Guys,

The original reports that Wall Street Journal said that the deal fell through and that was just some kind of co-operation with Sony retaining creative control of solo flicks.

You may like Raimi's flicks, Webb's, none or both but Spider-Man is the highest grossing solo superhero franchise (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest-grossing_films) and for merchandise though that is for Superheros .

Look at X-Men, Fox stopped the decline that started after X3 and got Days Of Future Past e to make like 730 million.

Why would Sony give up their big franchise? They still made big profit even if they didn't make $1 Billion

The Sony that is portrayed by the recent hack doesn't have the capability to effect the turnaround you described. At their continued ownership Spider-Man will be just be a squandered resource with further diminishing returns.

I imagine that there will be some sort of leaks from it. Now that everyone knows that it exists I would imagine that all the sites will be hitting every source they have trying to be the ones who get the scoop on what is decided.

Let's hope so.
Honestly if I had to guess I'd say that, right now, the rights are not coming back home and that Sony will continue to bastardize the character and drive the franchise into the ground.
And f that is the case I hope they lose an overwhelming amount of money on it and never fully recover :woot:

If all the rumors come to fruition and we get a new Marvel Studios produced Spidey I'm back on the Spider-Man bandwagon. I havent been on it since the let down of SM3. :)

"Hoping" isn't necessary. This hack laid bare just how incompetent and amateurish Sony's operation is. There's only a dark future for Spidey ahead at their hands.

I briefly hopped back on when ASM 1 showed promise of a somewhat likable foundation for future films, but I hopped off real quick after ASM 2.
Also going back in my posts I defended the movie as not being as bad as some made it out to be, but I own it on blu Ray and can attest to the fact that it gets worse with each and every watch. Sony really screwed the pooch on that one.

I didn't like Goblin's look either, it could have been so much better (as shown by the concept) but Sony chickened out yet again.
