So let me get this straight. Marvel doesn't want Garfield, because they want a HS kid (Garfield no longer looks like a HS kid). Then they want cameo in CW, TWO solo movies before Infinity War? Or just one?

They want a new actor because they want to start fresh. No connections to the previous franchise. It looks like it's the CW cameo, a solo, IW 1 and 2, and then a second solo later in 2019. There would probably be even more solo films after that but that's the plan as of now.

According to the last e-mail I saw, they want the second solo to release in 2019. Depending on timing, that could either be in between IW Part I & II or it could be a Phase 4 movie (maybe the first Phase 4 movie).

Everything's looking finalized now. This is exciting. I'm still cautious, but there's really no reason to think Sony will press ahead.

That's not all! Marvel wants Spider-Man to appear in the Avengers: Infinity War movies that will be released May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019. In order to make that happen Marvel wants Sony to guarantee that a second standalone Spider-Man film would be released in 2019. Marvel wants that reassurance because they don't want there to be a long delay between his solo films.

??

So

Cameo
Solofilm
IW 1 & IW2
Solo film?

Thanks I got it now.

Wow, seems like we are past the 'Lets do this' to now actually figuring out the 'how' to do it.

If it's 2019, that gives Spidey the break he needs.

Not really. 2019 is the supposed date of the second reboot film. If that deal happens, we're likely getting Spider-Man on the big screen every single year from 2016 on. 2016 (Civil War cameo or credit scene, 2017 (likely year for the first reboot solo), 2018 (Infinity War Part I), 2019 (Infinity War Part II and the solo sequel). Heck, we may get annual Spidey appearances starting next year if he gets an Age of Ultron post credits tease.

Hm I stand corrected. Well, if the movies are good, I'm happy with that schedule. Especially if the Russo brothers are at all involved.

If that were the case it would rule out the Russo's directing the films. There is no way they could do all that in 3 years.

IIRC the Russos were only ever in talks to produce them, not direct them. Personally, I think Drew Goddard should be considered. He's the one part of Sinister Six I actually like.

Drew Goddard would be able to put Spidey and Daredevil together since he's worked on the Netflix series.

I see. One of the rumors I read said they may take on writing and directing duties, but I was suspicious due to their potential workload already.

We're in agreement on Goddard  Would love to see him get a chance.

I've thought for a couple of years now that a fair trade for Spidey in Avengers films would be Marvel okaying Spider-Man team up films. I'd love a Spider-Man/Daredevil film with Kingpin as the villain (featuring Black Cat). It's not looking like that would fit in the schedule right now, though, unless that second Spidey film in 2019 is really Spider-Man and Daredevil.

What if they filmed it back to back?

They'll pretty much be doing Civil War and a five hour Avengers film back to back. If they can do two Spidey films during that process they best not ever get one more crack about You, Me, and Dupree again. They themselves would apparently be superheroes.

Are the Russos definitely confirmed for Avengers 3 and 4?

I think if they do CW and those two movies they wouldn't have time for a Spidey film.

And whoever plays Spidey better get used to the idea that he's going to be permanently filming that role for the next 10 years of his life like Chris Evans seems to be perpetually filming some kind of Captain America role.

The Russos were emailing Sony about directing a movie for them and they mentioned how directing IW was on their schedule.

Someone get me caught up to speed here. I heard that we're looking at a 60/40 split. Sony retains distribution rights and Marvel gets creative control?

Please tell me that means Arad got the boot.

All that and Arad getting the boot is what's been floating around so far. Just gotta wait and see.

I just read todays news.. It's all rumor still but I think we're going to see something come to light pretty soon.

Seems like marvel already had a plan for Spidey this whole time & already had a script in case he would show up in the MCU. Civil War.. Solo film in 2016? .. Avengers part 1 & 2 & they even want sony to promise that another spidey film will come out in 2019... God please for the love of all your children let this happen :)

Now by "creative control," what do they mean?

Does Marvel pick the talent and the script, and then Sony actually produces the movie? Or does Marvel handle the entirety of production and Sony simply distributes?
