Homecoming "Spider-Man Summit" Thread

.The summit will decide on something and they may join the MCU but stay at Sony or be sold to Marvel or be rebooted at Sony or have the ASM series continue.

Yet there's all these threads about Marvels Studios Spider-Man. Far too premature since he hasn't been sold back to Marvel

Going with Marvel Studios is the only logical outcome for Sony. No one would see the next Spider-Man movie if it's a reboot & not connected to the MCU, especially after it's become public knowledge that Spidey was close to getting into the MCU.

I really can't understand why anybody would think Spider-Man at Marvel would be a bad thing.

I mean, I've read peoples reasons, but all of 'em sound bogus to me.

A few weeks ago, I was against it. I doubt Garfield would be brought over and with Emma Stone gone I feel he's the best part of this franchise and I don't want to see his run cut short because I do like the two movies he's in despite their problems and think he's a great casting choice. But since he apparently is out anyway if rumours are to be believed, it can go back to Marvel for all I care. I still find Marvel's track record hit or miss but I'll just have to hope it falls in the former category.

His run is dead Snow Queen. It died with Gwen Stacy.

As I said, unless I missed confirmation of it, if he's out like rumoured then it can go back to Marvel for all I care and I hope they do as good a job on it as Winter Soldier.

Andrew Garfield's post-Spider-Man career will begin now. That's just how it is.

It's not so terrible. Look at the comeback Chris Evans had after Fantastic Four. He landed Captain America and he nailed that role even more than Human Torch. Now he's directing his first movie and everything.

His career was essentially falling into relative obscurity before he signed on for Captain America. It basically revived his career. The Fantastic Four franchise was a failure. It tried to make him the central hero as the humorous, best looking hero. Didn't take.

I was reading a few days ago about how Chris Evans was more or less approaching the end of his career potential, never really finding his big break and about to be to old and out of shape to play any sort of leading man, until Captain America came along and made him a household name.
I can understand him wanting to get out of the tights sooner rather than later, but the guy basically owes Marvel his entire career.
Whatever the case they'd do better then Sony's piss.
At this point I think Marvel could cast Christopher Walken as Spider-man and Danny Devito as Aunt May, and it would still be way better than anything Sony makes in the future.

Goddard was a good fit for Sinister Six but want a more experienced and capable director for the main picture. Can we not get an A list director? It's Spider-Man for pity sakes!

They want someone cheap who will do whatever they say. A Marc Webb, for example.

I'm getting that feeling as well. To be fair, Goddard was Marvel's guy as well (Daredevil Netflix) but I'm not talking about trust I'm talking about ability and experience. I want an A list director with a body of work behind him.

And before someone brings up Ang Lee (an A list director on a superhero movie) as a stick to beat the argument of an A list director on a superhero movie, I actually like Ang Lee's Hulk, a lot.

Wow. If that was the deal that Sony offered Marvel, If I was Marvel, I'd say take a hike and see you later. Hopefully with all the other things going on, Marvel gets a better return.

I liked Cabin in the woods, it was fresh and subversive but I want a visionary as a director, some with a great sense of story telling and a unique visual style. Also you can slap the directors name all over the marketing.

From the director of Harry Potter 3 and Gravity...

From the director of American Beauty and Skyfall...

From the director of Fight Club and Se7en...

reads a lot better than...

From the director of Cabin in the Woods

General audience - 'Cabin in the what now?'

It's a Spiderman film, whilst the director is important you don't need a name to help market the film

If Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach has 2 be involved in anyway. Turn the ****ing deal down Feige

Executive producer doesn't mean ****. Stan Lee is the executive producer on Marvel movies.

I must admit, I kind of like the idea of a teenage Spidey rebooted under Marvel's control. First reason being that in a weird way it makes sense to have Spider-Man show up later on in the Marvel Universe timeline. I like that Captain America, Shield, and the Avengers are all set up and established in the universe already as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy introducing the more cosmic interstellar aspects of the Marvel Universe. It opens the door for Spider-Man to be involved in a potential Secret Wars or Infinity Gauntlet Storyline down the road. Also the idea of a Marvel Studios Spider-Man seems so appealing, because this would seemingly have to be the definitive take on the Wall Crawler. No compromises this time. No Organic webbing, no restrictions on Spider-Man's larger Marvel Universe cast (potential for a Kingpin appearance for example) no girl next door Mary Jane Watson being his childhood crush, no proto Goblin nonsense or "Power Ranger" Goblin costume. With the additions of Gwen Stacy, Harry Osborn, Flash Thompson, Liz Allen, Betty Brant, Robbie Robertson, and J Jonah Jameson. Use the source material as their bible, comic accurate suit, take cues from Spectacular Spider-Man, and make sure to do justice to Spidey's character (quips, smart mouth, quick wit, great intelligence, and a good heart). If Marvel handles this correctly and gives us the definitive Spider-Man we all know and love than I will personally be overjoyed.

I don't want Avi Arad to be anywhere near the new Spider-Man movie in MCU. He should've been fired long time ago, and Marvel should be firmly against his involvement with the new Sony deal.

Sony should tell him that part of the new deal with Marvel comes with the stipulation that he is removed.

Then a scene telling him he's out will follow, like Norman Osborne's in SM1.

You know what's coming. :cwink: :woot:

If Sony Japan cared. They would get a list of people involved even in the smallest way possible. With Spider-Man 3 & both Non Amazing Spidey movies & fire them all. That are still working for Sony

Garfield is gone with or without Marvel. Sony is rebooting regardless.

Never liked him on the Avengers, he's street level they're not. With Marvel there's 0% chance he'd remain solo.

And he's got so many stories that any studio could adapt decades of stories into movies without the need for non-Spider-Man characters or a team, with Marvel they'll force cameos when they should be having Spideys supporting characters instead. Marvel suck at villains, Sony isn't much better but overall I'd say they've provided more fleshed out villains.

If a Marvel Spidey movie is made, I don't expect any cameos from any major MCU characters...at least not during the movie. Instead, my suggestion has always been to bring back minor MCU characters. My ideas were to include Peter working at the Daily Bugle and one of his co-workers is Christine Everhart and Peter watching on TV a news report of President Matthew Ellis (from Iron Man 3) attending a meeting at the United Nations. No need to force Tony Stark (although you could directly mention him and/or his company) or any of the major players there. Or Peter could even be at the University library and one of the books he passes by is "The Adventures of the Howling Commandoes" and this picture is on the cover:

Or course, since you don't like anything in the MCU outside of Guardians of the Galaxy, you would probably be enraged if these minor MCU characters showed up anyways.

Yeah Sony is adapting his stories soooo well... The villains in those movies are so iconic too.
