so i flipped through the strat guide today because we got them in and it disappointed me because its so thin...and there really doesnt appear to be that many marvel heroes and villains init at all...

at least all they listed in the book was spidey, venom, luke cage, moon knight, electro, vulture, black cat, mary jane(of course), rhino, and kingpin

What about Black Widow? Marvel.com confirmed her in the game, if she's not mentioned then maybe others that aren't will be in the game. God forbid they surprise us with a few things. Though I suppose everything would be in the guide. Kind of wished I hadn't read that... oh well. Game will still be good so long as you actually get to fight all those characters.

I hate it in games when a character is featured but you don't get to fight them. Like in the PS1 Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro. Beetle was in the game in cinematics but you didn't fight him. And in the Spider-Man 2 movie game, the epic disappointment in not fighting Mysterio, had to get the PSP game for that.

hmmmm not are all those characters confirmed but 2 of them are missing from that list. namely, Wolverine and Black Widow.

I'm not doubting you shonkster....
In fact you may have just saved me some money on the strategy guide. At least you've help me make the decision to check it before I buy. :cwink:

An interesting thing about Beetle is that he was a featured boss in the game. But I believe they had to cut him out because of 9/11. Not sure I remember the exact reason. I just remember he was in the game.

I wasn't really disappointed with the mysterio fight. I found it different from the norm and hilarious. It was also true to the comics.

He's not really a villain that goes toe to toe with Spidey, and Giant robots are so played out as boss battles in games. It also made his gameplay very much different and unique from the other bosses in the game. :woot:

* The original version of the game was pulled after the September 11, 2001 attacks to change the final battle. Originally the battle was atop the North Tower of the World Trade Center, but since the towers were destroyed on September 11, the game was re-released with a different ending. Originally, Electro shouted "Top of the world man!" as he departed his battle with Spider-Man for the towers, giving Spidey the clue he needed to track him down for the final boss battle, but in the re-released game, he just happens to guess correctly.[1]
* At the end of the video game, The Mighty Thor is credited with defeating Electro in the final battle. This is because Thor was supposed to appear in a video segment in the video game where he talks with Spider-Man shortly after he has defeated Hyper-Electro, thus giving Thor the credit with Electro's defeat in the Daily Bugle newspaper. This was removed because the game's original ending takes place atop the World Trade Center towers when the game was being developed and it was removed because of the towers' destruction on 11 September 2001.[2]
* Several levels were renamed in the re-release version of the game.

my bad forgot to add wolvie to the list, but the weird thing is they dont credit black widow in the characters pages, yet they show screens of her throughout the walkthroughs

either way the final boss fight looks like a classic style boss battle

Lack of characters in strategy guide+lack of reviews=worry. Maybe I'll be getting Dead Space next week after all.

I'll be so disappointed though if they waste all this potential. Having everything in place to make it awesome (graphics, combat, music, story, etc.) but then not filling it up with an appropriately epic roster. Guess we'll see in a few days.

also forgot to mention, i guess mary jane is busting some caps in this game because there is a screen of her brandishing a shotgun, for real

Thanks Spideyboy. :yay:

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Some fanboys have been totally wacking out because he can do "unrealistic" acrobatics in this game. But its ok for him to chuck cars. So I wouldn't listen to much to fan outcry.

My friend who is a hardcore gamer and who detests superhero games is stoked for this game and can't wait for its release next week.

I've heard good things about Deadspace. Another friend of mine just beat it though so its pretty short. (Keep in mind that he only plays after 1 for about 2 hours)

We haven't gotten any reviews yet, but thats not a bad thing...
Bourne Conspiracy got a pretty good score and the review came out like 3 days after its release.

Usually reviewers need a review code so that they can access the whole game, some games are longer than others so this all factors in. It really doesn't matter if the game sucks or not in the end.

My suggestion to you is to wait this out a little.

My biggest gripe is that most of the villains in this title have been bosses in other Spider-Man games. Id love to fight Will O the Wisp, Demogoblin, Vermin etc.

HAHAHA!!!!:D

So is anyone gonna tell him or do I get to?

I guess it's just been my experience that games with late reviews usually don't turn out well. A specific example I remember is The Incredible Hulk game. The first review didn't hit until like 2 days after it hit shelves. And that game wasn't terrible or anything, but definately wasn't amazing. This game has been on the top of my radar since it was first announced, and it seems like it could very well not deliver on some of the aspects I've been most looking forward to.

But yeah, I've heard Dead Space is short too. It would probably be better for me to just rent that (maybe today to pass the time until WoS)... because, after all, who am I kidding? There's no way I'll be able to not buy this even if it does end up sucking (or, what I'm predicting, being decent but not nearly as amazing as we were all hoping).

Activision is making their games interchangable. So instead of making DIFFERENT spider-man games that may offer different gameplay and bosses, they're trying to perfect ONE game.

Every game that we've gotten after SM2 was attempting to be the next SM2., they didn't try to just stay true to the character and listen to intelligent fans.

I know a lot of fans, especially on the official boards are like 14 and have silly thoughts and desires for the game. But a lot of good people, like Ryuuie and cory have followed these games for years and have actual GOOD opinions that should be heard.

If WOS sucks, it's on Activision -and- Shaba's head. Shaba, because they could have listened to fans and done better, and Activision....well that one's obvious...

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking of, which is why its kind of worrying me as well....Hulk and Iron man were two games that seriously sucked and both reviews came after release.

but Dragonball z budokai Tenkaichi 3 got a high score (the review came out MUCH later than the game, It came out exactly on my birthday and I remember looking for reviews but didnt see one until a week or two later.)

The bourne Conspiracy got a pretty good score on different sites as well. though for me thats definitely a rent-a-game. I remember buying that and actually beating it before the reviews came out.

I remember buying marvel ultimate alliance a day before the review came out and it got high scores.

the SM3 review came out the same day as the game. but it got a 6 which is passable. i still enjoyed it even if it wasnt worth the price.

I think I have a pretty good handle on seeing when somethings going to suck. I've never bought a crappy game. even though the content sounds like its going to suck, I still have a VERY good feeling about the gameplay.

I watched Ironman and the hulk the same way as WOS. I didn't buy either of those games. (Thank god) While I was watching the videos, even though they looked impressive at times....you could still tell the depth in gameplay just wasnt there.

WOS has shown multiple things in gameplay, yes they spam the web strike in marketing...but that gameplay video on g4 really impressed me. i love how you have to wiggle the control stick to kick the mess out of a big symbiote thats choking you so you can break free. I love the wall slides I saw, and all of the acrobatics he can do without webslinging.

the deal is if this games fun for me, screw what other people think. (yes that means you too. lol) even if the best reviewer in the world thinks it sucks than I still got my money's worth if I enjoy it.

My suggestion to you is to rent both, or at least rent Deadspace. a friend of mine told me it was really good...but you'll be more satisfied if you just rent it.

The gameplay and combat aspect do look top notch, there's no denying that. And yeah, if it's as fun as it looks it probably will be worth the purchase price. However I don't want this to be a game with all style and no substance. These next few months are going to be tight financially for me as I buy tons of other games that I don't need (:P) so I don't want to put down $60 on a game with no legs. But I don't want to be premature here. I'll still give it the benefit of the doubt and hopefully by the time I'm able to get it on Wednesday there will be some solid review scores out for it.

And Dead Space is rented out everywhere for me locally. Maybe this would be a good time to finish one of my many backlog games.

Same here. Games are waaaaaaay two expensive to suck now. The last gen Spidey games were great. Why does this next gen game have to drop the ball? (If it does.)

I'm thinking about taking the credit off and putting it on Prince of Persia. They've never dropped the ball when it comes to that franchise. They take the core and expand upon it. Something Activision really needs to learn when it comes to Spider-man. Every new game they feel the need to "revamp" everything. instead of just taking one thing they have and adding more features to it.

The game has 4 endings and can be played differently at least 3 times. (GOOD,BAD, straddling the line.) so that should make up for something. So I immediately expected it to be kind of short.

Naw....I'll buy WOS. I forgot my nephew wants to get it with his money he saved but he always likes my opinion first.

All I'm waiting on is to hear about the controls. If the controls suck I will avoid this game. :csad:

Nope, I already payed mine in full.
You only get your gift when you go pick up the game.

REMEMBER to ask for your gift. Sometimes the employee's act like they forget.
