I guess it's just been my experience that games with late reviews usually don't turn out well. A specific example I remember is The Incredible Hulk game. The first review didn't hit until like 2 days after it hit shelves. And that game wasn't terrible or anything, but definately wasn't amazing. This game has been on the top of my radar since it was first announced, and it seems like it could very well not deliver on some of the aspects I've been most looking forward to.
But yeah, I've heard Dead Space is short too. It would probably be better for me to just rent that (maybe today to pass the time until WoS)... because, after all, who am I kidding? There's no way I'll be able to not buy this even if it does end up sucking (or, what I'm predicting, being decent but not nearly as amazing as we were all hoping).
That's EXACTLY what I was thinking of, which is why its kind of worrying me as well....Hulk and Iron man were two games that seriously sucked and both reviews came after release.
but Dragonball z budokai Tenkaichi 3 got a high score (the review came out MUCH later than the game, It came out exactly on my birthday and I remember looking for reviews but didnt see one until a week or two later.)
The bourne Conspiracy got a pretty good score on different sites as well. though for me thats definitely a rent-a-game. I remember buying that and actually beating it before the reviews came out.
I remember buying marvel ultimate alliance a day before the review came out and it got high scores.
the SM3 review came out the same day as the game. but it got a 6 which is passable. i still enjoyed it even if it wasnt worth the price.
I think I have a pretty good handle on seeing when somethings going to suck. I've never bought a crappy game. even though the content sounds like its going to suck, I still have a VERY good feeling about the gameplay.
I watched Ironman and the hulk the same way as WOS. I didn't buy either of those games. (Thank god) While I was watching the videos, even though they looked impressive at times....you could still tell the depth in gameplay just wasnt there.
WOS has shown multiple things in gameplay, yes they spam the web strike in marketing...but that gameplay video on g4 really impressed me. i love how you have to wiggle the control stick to kick the mess out of a big symbiote thats choking you so you can break free. I love the wall slides I saw, and all of the acrobatics he can do without webslinging.
the deal is if this games fun for me, screw what other people think. (yes that means you too. lol) even if the best reviewer in the world thinks it sucks than I still got my money's worth if I enjoy it.
My suggestion to you is to rent both, or at least rent Deadspace. a friend of mine told me it was really good...but you'll be more satisfied if you just rent it.
