Happy Independence Day, Guest!
So, Avengers exposure could theoretically increase Spider-man's future revenue.
What's in it for Marvel? What would Marvel/Disney get out of this that would actually benefit them? Note that "put a cameo in a future Spider-man movie" is kind of dubious, since they already *have* their own mechanism of generating hype and exposure ( the MCU ).

Disney gets a small percentage of the profits from every Spider-Man film, so increasing the box office haul of any one of them puts more money in the Mouse's coffers. It isn't much money, mind you, as the deal was made back when Marvel was in bankruptcy and sold its rights for a pittance.
While Giving Spidey a boost would benefit Disney in a minor way, the two studios are unlikely to ever come to any agreement on "loaning" heroes to one another. Sony Pictures is hurting for cash right now and sold back their merchandising rights to Disney, but the film rights to Spider-Man are their most valuable asset now. Should Sony go into bankruptcy those rights might be auctioned off to the highest bidder unless Marvel has contracts specifically stating that they revert in such circumstances. Sony is going to hold on tight to Spidey for the potential billions in future revenue they could make off of him. Disney, on the other hand, could be disinclined to help Sony out in any way because if the rival studio does collapse, they would be first in line to reclaim rights to their properties.
I thought it was already confirmed that Spidey wouldn't be appearing in any avengers movie ( at least not any time soon). Spidey is still owned by Sony, not Marvel Studios. And besides, it would be tricky now to link The Amazing Spider Man movie with the Avengers movie.
For starters, it the upcoming Amazing Spider Man movie, the avengers don't exist, because the NYCPD is actively spidey and the general public fears him at first. Also the massive final battle in Avengers that takes place in NYC really conflicts with Amazing Spider Man. The only way that would have worked is if Spidey made a cameo at the end of Avengers. So yea, no spidey in avengers movies ( unfortunately).
how about wolverine? does sony also own the rights to the character? an avengers with spidey, wolverine, and thanos in it has a great chance of breaking the 2 billion mark
Fox owns the film rights to Xmen/Fantastic Four, Sony owns Spider-Man. You can bet they won't appear in any MCU film any time soon.
I'd rather do without them tbh. Especially Wolverine. I've always thought him being an Avenger to be silly.
Spidey really doesn't need to be in The Avengers but making him part of the larger MCU would be pretty cool. He could be part of the same universe, providing benefits to both Sony and Marvel/Disney, without actually being in an Avengers film. Though I certainly wouldn't be opposed to having him assist in one of the films in an all-hands-on-deck type scenario.
