Hmmmm! I see.
When talking to Korey Coleman about Spill.com, the now-defunct movie review website he founded in 2006, he's well aware that people are familiar with the roots of the organization. "Everybody's heard these origin stories," he admits. However, it's a story worth revisiting, especially since the heroes are once again returning to positions of influence in the world of online film commentary. It's the tale of five movie lovers Coleman, Martin Thomas, Chris Cox, Tony Guerrero, and C. Robert Cargill and how they built something grand, lost everything but their fans, and carried on with their heads held high.
IMO where as Spill attracted fans from all different parts particularly more from the geek community, DT tends to attract more of the urban and "bro-ish" audience.
There are way too many guests now a days. Guests don't feel special anymore, and the guests are from the fanbase anyway. I know I'm one of us, no pun intended, but the Spill/DT fanbase is horrible. It's full of a bunch of wanna be film and/or culture critics, and they fail miserably at trying to be like Korey. The guests just take me out of it sometimes because then the stories go back to the usual, "Man we were drinking, and boy this crazy thing happened, and then we went to another bar and did something else stupid!"
I'm still a fan of the show though. I just needed a bit of a break since I've been listening to them for a while now. Their reviews are still money because Korey and Martin's chemistry make for some funny stuff.
. Yes, I know Chris is also an atheist but he isn't a *****e about it. I just find the One of Us community to be a bit friendlier.
Yeah, the guy with the voice is Tommy he's the does the Daily Double everyday with Korey. He also does the Causal Call-In Show with Korey and the Weekly Roast & Toast with Korey and Martin, and I think he does editing for the shows.I do think that they should limit guests. I watched the Boy Next Door review and there were two guys other than Korey and MArtin. One who has done a couple of reviews with the really cool saunteer-y voice and then some other guy. The cool voice guy didnt really see the film so I don't get why have him in the review? Neither of the non Korey or Martin guys brought anything to the table.
Korey and Martin by themselves are enough especially since their kinda opposite, kinda the same type personalities mesh so well.
I was part of the Surviors of Spill (or whatever it was called) community on Facebook, and I left when gamer gate come around. It's shocking to see how many of them sided with gamer gate, and when a female would politely disagree, she would get attacked like crazy.
I stopped listening because the lack of Tony. I just wish he would come back, because he was my main draw. It's been a year and it's probably not going to happen.
Off topic question but Ive been wondering this for months...what the hell is Gamer Gate
It's not best to ask. It's basically Democrats vs. Republicans. You'll get a couple of wildly different answers from uninformed people. Just watch porn instead. It'll be more productive.
I've been meaning to ask this for a while, but were any of the old spill audio or video reviews archived, or are they gone forever? There were a few moments I'd love to relive.
