Someone on another forum said the mysterious ship was about the size of Picard's enterprise. Is that true? Perhaps Abrams is bringing in a prototype of that ship, or a Borg modified ship???

the first thing i thought of when i saw it was the Ent-D

Very awesome trailer! I MUST see this film in theaters, I made the mistake of not seeing the first one in theaters. That big ship is awesome! I'm calling it The Cumberbatch.

I'm surprised the trailers haven't featured more Klingons.

you know JJ loves his secrets...I'm surprised we haven't discovered the Riddle of Cumberbatch by now.

Hmm then there might be something to that. The gun on the ship reminds me of a large laser rail gun. That I haven't seen in my limited exposure to trek. Is there any cultures that use a gun like that? It seems odd for a federation vessel to have such a big gun.

i dont know why I thought Ent-D but I did...i dont remember rail gun like technology in ST

Yes.

WTF is that?! That's crazy!

I thought more the Ent-E than the D when I saw the trailer. It's... interesting, and I'm deeply curious (this is a good thing, IMO, for a trailer to instill :yay:)

Not true: The Abrams Enterprise is roughly about the same length as Picard's Enterprise- E (which is a bit longer than his original D). The original timeline Enterprise was much smaller.

This new beast I have no idea, but it's freakin huge for a Federation vessel (maybe about the same size as Shinzon's ship in Nemesis). It will be the biggest Federation style ship I've seen (other than Star-Bases).

That trailer was great. this film will probably be the best of the summer. year maybe. expectations are high.

Rail Guns have been more of a BSG thing. Phasers and Photon Torpedoes have always been the weapons of choice for Federation Starships pre-Abrams. I suppose the Defiant from DS9 would be the closest (that could fire off multiple torpedoes in rail gun like fashion).

Man. That was one awesome trailer.

First thing I thought of when seeing that new huge black Federation ship was that it was Enterprise D.

I'm not sure how it would make sense. Or even how I feel about more time travel from the future etc being part of the story line, but if it is the D it opens some cool possibilities.

It definitely feels like this alt. timeline is becoming the Dark/Mirror/War universe. I've always loved those stand alone episodes and to see how that entire universe works in movie form could be so exciting. That would be cool as hell. And if somehow the crew realize this and try to fix it...oooooh.

Exciting times. I'll take this alt universe any day over the last few TNG movies.

It's much more similar to the Excelsior/Enterprise B than the D in shape at least. That ship is freaking huge though. I really hope it is a new kind of ship, a prototype or something (Harrison is an agent of some kind) rather than more time travel.

Size Comparison chart. Second down on the left is the new Trek Enterprise.

So part of Starfleet seems to be "evil". Possibly Marcus. Cumberbatch is not the villain here.

Sites are referring to the big ship as a "Dreadnaught Class."

I'm not sure that chart is accurate as I thought they said the JJ ship was the size of the galaxy class

Just thought of something, isn't Harrison part of a secret organization within starfleet? Perhaps the ship is a part of that. A black ops group that does off the books espionage stuff.

I bet whatever it is it is a stealth ship. Yeah its huge, but the color and hollow saucer make me think it is meant to be hard to detect.

So, if robocop is evil, perhaps Harrison is a part of those experimented on, abandoned.
