Star Wars Comics and Graphic Novels

Dude, and they talked so much, I remember just skipping so much of their convos.
Dude. A good 70% of the greatness that was KotOR was the dialog options and how you could subtly influence things through carefully chosen words. Granted, that loses a lot after you play through the first time, but still.

Wait...the old fellow you described could become Sion, but I thought he was a corpse of a Jedi held together by power from the Dark Side?

I need to start reading this. What's good to start with?

It's only on issue #17, so the beginning's pretty good. The first trade is called Commencement, the second is called Flashpoint. A third trade'll probably be released within another 2 months or so, since they seem to be going in increments of 6 issues. Commencement was #0-6, Flashpoint was #7-12, so #18'll come out this month, followed by the trade of #13-18 within another month after that. I just bought the individual issues after the second trade, myself. I was too excited about the series to wait until the third trade came out.

As for the dude who may become Sion, he was indeed a corpse held together by the dark side. But that still doesn't necessarily preclude this dude from becoming Sion, since they never mention when Sion first died or anything.

I got a mod to change the title of the thread so we could include more general Star Wars comics rather than just KotOR.

With that in mind, I recently read the first Legacy trade. It was good enough that I'm planning to get the rest of the series and start reading it regularly. Anyone else reading Legacy or have any thoughts?

If I hadn't already started reading Legacy, I'd be reading it as soon as I saw this. I love Obi-Wan and will gladly read anything (that's not a novel) about him.

Yeah, I always thought he was kind of lame in Episode IV. But if the prequels were good for nothing else, they gave me a true and lasting love for all things Obi-Wanian.

Episode III really sealed the mother****er. He kept getting pwned all the time in the first two movies.:csad:

Only against Dooku. He got pwned again by Dooku in the third movie, in fact. But other than that, he was the one who was the pwner.

so what do you think is the best star wars comic?

I'd say KotOR. Legacy seems to be picking up steam now that it's in its second year, though, so that might change.

He gave Maul a run for his money and put him on the defensive before he got kicked into that hole.

I read the most recent issue of Legacy, which came out this week. It was pretty sweet. It's basically a stand-alone, although it does fit into the ongoing plot of the series, which is basically the current Sith-ruled Empire vs. the previous emperor and those loyal to him vs. the remnants of the Galactic Alliance. Roan Fel, the emperor ousted by Darth Krayt's coup of the Empire, has an assassin sent after him--no less than one of Krayt's inner circle of Sith, in fact. But Fel, trained as an Imperial Knight (the Force/lightsaber users who believe in neither the Jedi nor the Sith teachings, but instead only learn and use their powers in service to the Empire), manages to win and kill his would-be assassin. For those who like Greg Rucka's Checkmate, this issue had a similar feel. It's pretty much political intrigue with lightsabers, which is awesome all around.

Poor, neglected thread: I command thee, live!

Anyone still reading any Star Wars comics?

And there was much rejoicing... from the thread you left.

Anyway, I'm enjoying KotOR so far, but I really want to see Miller start making with some answers. He's been dropping nods to the games but very much focusing on Zayne and the rest of the group as their own thing so far. But, not to put too fine a point on it: a lot of people are reading the KotOR comic because of the games. He needs to drop one big, game-related revelation on us soon or I fear I may start losing interest.

Hmm, I don't know about that. What huge revelation would appease you?

But yeah, I agree, it's suffering from the LOST effect.

Maybe not a huge revelation so much as a stronger tie to the games. Maybe make Carth a regular or have HK-47 show up or finally bring Revan and Malak into the limelight as the rebels of the Jedi Order and heroes of the Mandalorian Wars. There's all this big stuff going on in the background that's ripe for exploration, but Miller's forcing this myopic focus on the much smaller-scale personal stories of the characters. Star Wars is great because you can have both epic stuff and character stuff; I just think this is definitely more a time for epic stuff.

I picked up the Knights of the Old Republic series this weekend and got caught up. Very enjoyable, its nice to see the writer has a really good command of the material. I have to admit to having a little bit of a nerdgasm whenever Revan and Malak show up.

Part of what has impressed me about the book is that Zayne and co. have a pretty compelling story of their own. I like the allusions and I like dropping in and out of the KoTOR back story every so often but part of me is afraid that if it veered too closely to the game lore it would end up overshadowing everything else.

I do agree that its time to get into the meat of the story however, that being I want to see Zayne hunting down the Jedi Masters.
