Come on, Star Wars needs Tom Hardy, Ken Watanabe, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Cillian Murphy.

:cwink:

I bet top dollar nolan is done directing franchise adaptations. He's trying to cement his own role as a director he can't do that by being the go to guy for licensed properties.

It's not happening. Bond is a long shot as well due to how much control eon will have to giver over to him. I love nolan's work so i want to see more of Nolan's work.
Exactly. I want to see him make more films like Memento and Inception.
What Nolan needs to make next is that Prisoner movie he talked about a few years ago.

It would be like Memento, Inception and Bond all rolled into one.

Watanabe- Master jedi

Cotillard- Senator

Hardy- Bounty Hunter

Murphy- Commander of Imperial ship

Levitt- New Luke Skywalker

All this Star Wars talk has got me wanting to read some of the Expanded Universe novels. Can anybody recommend a good one?

Anything by Timothy Zahn like Heir to the Empire, the first book of the Thrawn Trilogy.

Yes! This! :D

Matt Stover's Traitor was incredible too.

Unfortunately, you'd need to read like 3 good books, 4 mediocre books, and 2 really bad books to understand the storyline. :o

Hence why I've not read it. I try to stick with one offs.

Tales of the Jedi: The Sith War is pretty good comic book story during the time of the Old Republic, I"d like to see some form of it adapted to film.

I think I'd rather see sequels more than more prequels.

Old Republic stuff is cool. But we've seen the fall of the Republic, then the fall of the Empire in each of the trilogies. I'd like to see a trilogy chronicling the rise of the New Republic.

i dont think it will.

Fox owns the distribution rights until 2020 while A New Hope is indefinitely. They can do whatever they want with them and they know what people are craving.

The hurdle has always been Lucas and now he's essentially out of the picture.

A new generation of kids will know that Han shot first and Boba Fett's original voice was simply badass.

will we get them eventually (5-10 years) maybe...anything sooner than that will take a miracle. It will take Disney and Fox coming to an agreement to release them and figure out how the money is divided.

It will be glorious.

I still have the originals on VHS...and through...other means....

Same here. I recently watched the original trilogy on Blu-ray and when that shot came up I gave the middle finger to my TV.

That and Hayden's facial expression was off putting. Instead of having a sentimental look, he looks like a creeper.

Someone over at this site asked John Williams about scoring Episode VII.

Me: "Oh by the way Mr. Williams what about you and Star Wars VII?"

JW: I'll Try!

Hey all, I never post here but I'm a big-time lurker.
Anyway, something I thought you all would find interesting- I'm a college student studying film and today my screenwriting professor (who works in the industry) told us he got a meeting with Disney to pitch for Episode VII. He said there were only a few parameters given, including:
Luke Skywalker must be included, but not necessarily anyone else from the existing films, and he must be age-appropriate for Hamill, who is 100% for sure in the movie.
Skywalker must have a new "Jedi Academy" that he has founded and oversees.
Disney/Lucasfilm are looking for a "dark" story. My professor said they're seeking out writers who have experience along those lines. They don't seem to care about experience with big movies, they just want writers who can do good characters with a serious tone.
Other than that, it sounds like the potential writers have free reign to come up with whatever they want. Apparently Skywalker doesn't even have to be the main focus, as my professor's idea centers on a new protagonist and Skywalker appears more as a supporting character.
His meeting is sometime within the next week or two I think. If he doesn't get the gig I can tell you what his idea was. :D
