Star Wars - Part 7

I read the comic adaptation of Revenge of the Sith. It turns out Obi-Wan already knew about Anakin and Padme. Which is surprising to me, considering I thought he knew about them after Obi-Wan sensed Padme's pregnancy.
As far as i remember, Obi-Wan didnt know; it wasnt in the novelization or the movie that he knew. He did suspect Anakin had a crush on Padme, but never imagined the extent of it. Weird that it would be on a comic adaptation when it wasnt on either one of those though

I think that, after watching the episodes 1-3, I think Palpatine wanted Padme dead for a long time. Seeing as she was the only one who could pose a true threat to him, politically, do you think that he knew that Anakin's desire for power would lead to Padme's death?

From the way Obi-Wan spoke to Padme in ROTS, in the scene at her home when he is looking for Anakin, I always thought it was meant to imply that he had known of the relationship for some time. He doesn't so much ask, as tell her he already knows.

Obi Wan is like Jim Gordon, he always knows more than he lets on...

Sure; he realized at that moment. That's how i interpreted it anyways. Like i said, i thought Obi-Wan knew Anakin had a crush on Padme, but didnt realize the depth of those feelings until ROTS. Once he sensed Padme pregnant, it wasnt difficult to figure out who the father was.

Thanks again. :)

Anybody got any suggestions for Quinlan Vos?

When I read the comics, I always envisioned Val Kilmer as Quinlan Vos.

Funny, thing, I always envision Joanne Whalley(-Kilmer) as Mara Jade when reading those novels.

BTW who's ready for this guy?

Not me! I may be in the minority, but I hate these retcons to try and bring back the "cool badass" character. In my book, Obi-Wan bisected Maul and he died, end of story. And Boba Fett was swallowed by the Sarlec, too, end of story.

I accept that Boba Fett came back only because he went out like a punk in ROTJ.

I just read an article on the NYTIMES site about lucas, concerning red tails, Indy 4, and the SW prequels. So mods, move this if you must, but I'd like to say something.

I feel really bad for lucas. He's pretty much the most hated man on the planet now...all because he's made changes and movies that people dislike. I don't disagree with everything the man has ever done, but I think lucas hate is way overblown. You can basically hear the pessimist inside of him because of the hate he recieves. This is why I hate fanboys, normally I figure you don't like something, cool, it wasn't your taste, move on, and let it go. The fact that thirteen years later people are STILL *****ing about TPM, Nine years for AOTC, and Six for ROTS, just goes to show why fanboys are the butt of so many jokes all the times. Which is quite sad, as the prequels really aren't bad, and I'm quite a fan of them and Lucas myself (I share a birthday with him :D ), not to mention when I dislike something, I once again...move on from it. I really do detest the fanboy community sometimes.

But, by that same token, fans can accept they brought Maul back because he was severely underused in the one film he was in. All the SW fans back in the day expected him to be a much bigger force in the film, like, I made the mistake of thinking the guy might actually have dialogue!
Because we got that great line from him in the trailer about revealing ourselves to the Jedi, i thought he'd be talking all through the movie like Vader did.

y'know, I don't buy any of the EU stuff, but I don't see any problem with bringing back great characters who were killed off or underused. Give the fans some more Maul and Boba, don't be a big wet bantha about it Spider-Gnome.

Plus, I believe Jabba stated that digestion takes a long time.

Back in 83/84 they did a story in Marvel comics where the Sarlacc spat Boba out of the pit because it could not digest him due to his armour, and he wandered around Tattooine with amnesia. But, the daft thing is, by the end of the story they had him fall back into the Sarlacc pit! haha wtf was that all about?
it was actually not a bad wee story, I won't spoil it here in case anyone picks up one of those collections with the old Marvel SW's, i liked it a lot back then.

You're not alone...All George wanted to do is show the Rise and Fall of Anakin Skywalker and he gets persecuted for it. :csad:

You know, I love seeing this TPM promotion for the 3D release. I just love seeing SW movie merch and their commercials being seen again. It takes me back. It's just good to have back.

I'll be there, along with many other friends, at the midnight showing

Podracing helmet and all. :o

I have always liked GL in the interviews I have seen with him, he genuinely feels he is improving the movies with the additions, and did his best with the prequels. I really do like RoTS, I enjoy watching it more than RotJ nowadays(apart from the Jabba sequence, which is as good as ANH/ESB)...the first two thirds of TPM are alright, Qui-gonn makes it watchable, but I think the last act is awful apart from the lightsabre battle....AOTC has some great stuff going on in it...it's just...man, the dialogue is sometimes really bad.

But the biggest flaw of the series is that they should have had the same person play Anakin in all three films, he should have been introduced as a teenager in TPM, I know this kind of mucks up the way he set up the Jedi order, but they could have just accepted him at that age, better that plot push than essentially starting his proper story with epII.

The problem is he didn't tell it very well. I don't hate the prequels like a lot of people do. Visually, I think they're stunning, and there are a lot of things I do like about them. But after waiting for them for so many years, a lot of things about the way the story was told was really disappointing in a lot of places.

And it also sucks that he won't release the original unaltered versions of the films on blu-ray. It's great that he can update them the way he wants, but speaking as someone who grew up with the original trilogy, I want those versions too. Seriously, how hard would it be to include those too?

I think the way he's treated by a lot of the fanboy community is ridiculous, and downright vile at times. There's no excuse for that kind of behavior towards anyone. He's not a horrible person, he seems like a really nice guy.

But I can understand why fans simply get pissed off at a lot of the things he does.

I understand irritation, trust me, I do disagree with alot of his choices. I also agree with you about releasing the original trilogy, unaltered, on bluray.

Lucas is a big boy, he can take it. The one I really feel bad for is Jake Lloyd, from what I've heard he had a pretty rough childhood thanks to people that didn't like him in that movie.

People, for what it seems have begun to layoff the kid. But yeah I feel bad for pretty much everyone in the prequels, sans Mcdarmid, Portman, Neeson, and Mcgregor, everyone seems to still take issue with them as people/actors.

My only problem with jake lloyd is he takes forever to add people on PSN LOL.

They were awful to him before the movie came out. Newsweek reported that he was terrible in the movie based on what they heard from reports of an early screening. Ron Howard actually wrote a letter to Newsweek calling them unprofessional for reporting on a movie they had not yet actually seen - and as a former child actor himself, understanding the pressure that comes with it.

Lucasfilm apparently gave a cold shoulder to Newsweek when it came time for screenings and media access, so when the movie came out they tore Jake and the movie apart. Yes, they picked on a 10-year-old. :whatever:

I saw Jake at the first SW Celebration in Denver. He seemed like a very typical little kid. He drove Anthony Daniels up a wall for the whole weekend. :funny:
