The Shi'ar

I dig em. Intergalactic empires are almost always fun. This one even has a faux Legion of Superheroes, so, nice.

I do feel that they've been wasted on the X-Men however.

Well the pic is from the final chapter of the Avengers crossover Operation Galactic Storm when they conquered the Kree. The only reason they've been almost exclusive to the X-Men is because Lilandra gets super hot over bald cripple dudes.

Yeah, I'm with Nubsopolis on this one. Alien empires are pretty much always cool, but the Shi'ar being limited to interacting with the X-Men has kind of held them back. The Kree/Shi'ar War and the War of Kings are easily my favorite arcs with them, and both of those hinge pretty significantly on the Shi'ar getting out of the X-Men's corner of the universe and mixing with everyone else.

I think it's a good thing the Shi'ar are limited to the X-Men.Normally I would rather that they are spread out among the Marvel Earth heroes, but with the Kree and Skulls I feel that they wouldn't get as much limelight if they weren't X-Men specific.

The Shi'har are pretty awesome, especially since they have the Imperial Guard.

I just wish they would have been used in mainline Marvel more in the 70s and 80s, they don't have the long history of the Kree and Skrull, but it's a solid history.

I don't really have an opinion.

I do think he's overrated as a fighter, and Richard Dragon would kick his ass.

Shang Chi would put Richard Dragon in a wheelchair for real....

I missed Shang Chi, but he is a great character and his series by Monech and Paul Gulacy and later on Gene Day was a fantastic read. Without the Fu Manchu license, he's not quite the same character.

As for the Shi'ar, they're okay. I do love the Imperial Guard, I like them better than the Shi'ar Empire itself. I think Clairemont wanted them to be superior to the Kree and the Skrulls, and that is annoying.

exactly! if this was about the Imperial guard i would say they rock but the empire sucks!! Lilandra was weak her crazy ass brother and even deathbird. the kree which are like Space Spartans are real alien race. with them you are born into the military. those guys are awesome! the Shi'ar are so weak they have to get gladiator and his bunch as bodyguards. if Gladiator had half a brain he would mop the floor up with them and take control for himself. those birdheads suck!!

.... oh and karate kid ( not the Ralph macchio) one or that lame ass cartoon one would put everybody in a body bag!!

love the Shi'ar and their hollow bones. The battle between Imperial Guard and X-Men in Phoenix saga remains one of my favourite stories.

And Gladiator = badass! No way could you look that ridiculous and not be!

Gladiator borders on PC Supes levels these days though. Busts planets, FTL etc. He'd crap all over Thor

Anyway, the Shi'ar are alright.

Personally, I hate the Shi'ar. They have triangular feather hair, are very uninteresting, and worst offence is that they are used all the time to include the XMen in space stories, and I sincerely believe the xmen shouldn't be in space stories (in the same way Spidey shouldn't, etc). But apparently I'm in the minority here
