State Your Opinion on A Character - Part 1

I still think it's a bad idea to have merged the Wildstorm U.

They're just gonna be pushed to the side and eventually used as cannon fodder in the next big event. they were the JLA of their universe. Now they're.....I don't know what they are now. Same with the WildCats.

Dang, these are going fast and furious now. One might almost say they're going 2 fast or even 2 furious. They're Tokyo drifting out of here like--okay, I'll stop now. :o

I don't really have much of an opinion on the Authority because I've read a bunch of stuff with them, but none of it is the stuff that all the Authority fans point to as their best. What I have read of them portrays them as a bunch of unsympathetic asshats who spend as much time fighting amongst themselves as they do protecting the world (without really giving a damn about its people). But that may be a mischaracterization because, like I said, I haven't read a lot of their supposedly best stuff.

Yeah, you should probably read some of their other stuff. But then again, you'd probably be against Anarchist Superheroes who take down 3rd world dictatorships by wiping out their armies and throwing said dictators to mobs, and eventually taking over the United States of America.

At the same time, they take on threats that truly encapsulate what it means to be superheroes. Like when they killed God. Or when the Earth rebelled against humanity and tried to kill them, so they had no other choice but to make a deal with a previous Doctor (That's Earth Shaman) who went mad and killed like a quarter of the Earth's population, to calm the Earth down, then evacuate the entire planet to alternate realities so this insane *****e nozzle could have his powers back for one hour.

So you know, they are like, kinda awesome. :o

I don't know....they're lovable Jerks. Especially Jenny. :awesome:

I remember when they let all those refugees from those various 3rd world countries they liberated live in their shift ship, and Midnighter, after taking a walk amongst the people came back to Apollo and was like, I didn't realize how racist I was until we let all these people move into this tub. :o

the Authority ROCKED!! I had been going thru the motions and buying stuff and not even reading it( the "reign of supermen" did it ) when my comic dealer was like... i got a book for you! I remember reading em fighting a parallel version of "the Avengers" only the "Thor" version bending Apollo over and pulling a "pulp fiction!" then Midnighter pulling some apparatus out after kicking the crap outta "Thor" with a gigantic fist on the end of it and him pulling a "pulp fiction! I was like what the heck is this!!! this is so so freaking wrong ,but i freaking LOVED IT!!!i dont know where it went wrong later,( it was when Millar left!) but for those issues it made me love comics again!!a stoner shaman with absolute power?!? it don't get any better! If your Team's name is "THE AUTHORITY!!.... Mannnn! come on! you know its going to be bad ass!

Every example you guys are giving as to awesome things from their comics strike me as why they're ******ed. I'll take my comics without the oh-so-hilarious sexual molestation of heroes by villains and, especially without the vice versa. Everything else sounds just about as terrible.

I do agree with Anubis though that they shouldn't have included Wildstorm in the DCU. They're voiding tons of the main characteristics of the characters. You can already see it in Grifter #1. He is NOT Grifter at all.... I miss the wildcats :(

I don't think you're remembering it correctly there BV.

They beat Apollo up,(while throwing homophobic Rhetoric at him.) and Midnighter later violated the Captain America guy with a Jack Hammer. :o

He also talked the Iron Man dude out of a fight. Convinced him to take off his armor, stop being a government stooge, and he was sending Midnighter letters telling him about how he changed his life, got married to a single mom, and was now just living life as a regular jag off. Awesome.

But lets not bother with Apollo and Midnighter. I wanna talk about one particular member that's just, well, awesome. The Engineer. Here's a comic book nerd girl who got to live the dream. Got super powers, became one of the worlds biggest superheroes, and loved every minute of it.

hmmm 1st that word isnt very political and above all else Black Vulcan is PC!( plugging catwoman?!?) how could a book be that way anyways?!?( i mean i have seen autistic kids do some amazing things, but for the most part a book cant be mentally challenged?!)
2nd I jump across the board. i loved " young heroes in love" and "major bummer "for heavens sake. i dont just stick with one genre. Authority was taking "watchmen to the next level where the watchmen still had maybe a hint of a soul these guys didn't have any. They had powers and hey! if i feel like saving you i will. if i dont then i wont. its not for everybody and to say something is "******ed" well havent you seen that dont say "gay" to mean lame campaign.... besides i did graduate from beauty school with my GED! Authority rocked, but it's like asphyxiophilia... it aint for everybody!:cwink:

yeah.Nubby but i thought the "Capn america" guy and the "Thor" guy did take turns with Apollo, but yeah you are right though. you see just the scene of the thor guy with only his mace hanging out where the sun don't shine. tequila and old age is catching up to me! The doctor was my guy!

I haven't read anything with the Authority in it, nor can I say that I have much interest in them, based on everything I've heard about them and their stories.

Still, I hear that the team that Superman fought, called the Elite, were based on the Authority. They were cool in the role of villains for Superman to overcome.

I absolutely love Apollo and Midnighter they are one of my top ten comic book couples and two of my favourite members of The Authority/Stormwatch

I adore Jenny Sparks as well she's pretty much pure amazing amazingness

I want YOU

To read the Uncle Sam mini series's that Gray & Palmiotti wrote

There are alien space bees

I haven't read anything with him, but based on the picture alone he seems awesome. I mean, look at that, its hilarious.

And a jacked up guy that looks exactly like Uncle Sam fighting space bees sounds amazing.

No, no, no, he doesn't look like Uncle Sam, he IS Uncle Sam.

The spirit of America.

Thats even better. I love the fact that the personified spirit of America looks like Clint Eastwood.

No, no, no, he doesn't look like Uncle Sam, he IS Uncle Sam.

The spirit of America.

He took on the Secret Society with his bare fists

It was pretty incredible

The bees had a hawt brainwashed techno version of the Red Bee working for them too

Wacky stuff

I liked him in the Freedom Fighters series that DC was pushing a few years ago. Not much exposure to him beyond that. He is a pretty cool concept, though. The living spirit of America running around kicking ass.

I just love it when they have him role up his sleeves and commence to the kicking ass.

His powers, however are kind ill defined. I mean, he's got super strength, but then I once seen him grow to 100ft tall and had access to a pocket universe. Maybe it's best to just say it's kind of reality warping, powered by patriotism.

Yeah, I'd say just think of him like the god of America. If Americans are feeling especially patriotic, he can do just about anything.

I'd like to see Captain America and Uncle Sam team up and battle Per Degaton and Red Skull who have an army of zombie clone Hitlers

You all know you'd read it
