The Greatest American Hero

Today's. :yay:

It's really not a thing here. But I'm vaguely aware of him, largely because of his symbol which turns up in geeky things every now and then.

OMG!!! I have this show on dvd about this bumbling, soft spoken high school teacher, who gets chosen by aliens at random for this suit that gives him superpowers. The only thing is that the guy loses the instruction manual for the suit & is just bumbling his way through the adventure/s. Oh, & who can forget the catchy tune from the t.v. show??? :hrt:

Most memorable show that got canceled after seven episodes. :o

Googled for the logo meaning, saw this
The symbol on Ralph's uniform resembles the Chinese character "center" [中]. ... of the show [飛天紅中俠], translated to mean "Flying Red Center Hero"

I heard a Chipmunk'd (Alvin and his pals singing old movie songs) version of this song on an old tape, never knew what it's from

Thanks Wes

TOTALLY!!
only when that show 1st came out i freaking hated it! i was all into the serious superhero stuff and the Richard Pryor,Adam west stuff made hate anything with comedy in it. so i didnt like the show, but then i started realizing it was comedy from the situation and not just that buffonery stuff and started to like it! That show had alot more substance than i realized at the time! plus Connie Sellca was so smokkinnn as hot!!!

An old Gold Key character

And currently resides at Dark Horse

Doc Manhattan to be more precise.....but he was just a place holder for Captain Atom anyway. :o

Been wanting to read that for quite awhile. Heard it was ****. Love regular guys becoming God's and suddenly having to deal with the Existential crisis that results.

The resemblance to Cyclops makes me think of the phrase "children of the atom"

The comic Spock created in the '90s.

From Wiki:

The comic's plot revolved around humanity's first contact with an alien intelligence called the Primortals. The series showed how, in ancient times, aliens called the Majae removed various species from Earth and raised them to sentience. Avitaur Zeerus, rebellious alien governor of Achernar Three, flees to Earth after being defeated by hostile alien forces. Public reaction to his arrival, and the warnings of alien invasion he gives, are depicted in the comic as ranging from ecstasy to paranoia.

Heh, 90s inventions, some are decent, most are crap
Don't know if Nemoy ever wrote a movie, might be something to help expect some stuff from this series, besides crap

Wesley, don't be afraid to put people and comics we actually know ;)

:hehe:

Man, I've been doing this like a year and a half. Sometimes you get Tarzan or Charlie Brown and sometimes you get... well, that **** up there.

It can't all be gold. :)

If I learned anything from doing threads like this, is you gotta go with the obscure and space out the ones everybody knows.

Totally, rationing's the key I think. Having said that though, I aim to please so here's two great big pop culture icons for you all to sound off on:

Mulder & Scully

I love these two. I think along with Red Dwarf, the X-Files was probably my first ever 'favourite tv show'.

Will anyone be reading IDW's 'Season 10'?
