Sorry folks... I wanted to like this show. Really. I watched the entire first season, and a few of the second. I like Gregg and Wen in their parts... But EVERYTHING else is trash. Straight up hot garbage. As a long time fan of Marvel Comics characters I wanted this show to work. Really I would have been over the moon if a fun weekly action adventure show was being shown on network TV with SHIELD at the center, but what has been delivered is terrible. Terribly written, terribly acted, terribly conceived about 90% of the time. I would say that the audience did warm to Gregg's Phil Coulson, hell, by grandmother was upset when he died in Avengers. Learning he was to get his own show filled me with excitement... And then it premiered and that first half of the first season showed that Phil was on the back burner... No... We were supposed to fall in love with Skye and the actress that makes paint drying seem interesting, Chloe Bennet. They tried everything to make her interesting but none of it works at all, least of which is exploiting her as a pure object of fanboy lust. It's the cheapest kind of attention seeking a show can do. The actors were bland, the stories were bland and all with an absurd price tag to it, because the show has production values... Too bad it's in the service of boring the audience when it's not annoying it.

What is really strange is that Marvel gave us a good show in AGENT CARTER and a GREAT show in DAREDEVIL on NETFLIX. How they could so royally screw the pooch with SHIELD is a mystery for the ages that I will forever be baffled by. I even gave the second season a chance for about four episodes... Nope. Despite what hardcore Marvel Studios fanboys would have everyone believe the show was as dull and stupid as it was before. It's funny... Some complain that the mentioning of MCU characters was the problem on the show. NO... The problem was bad conception, writing, casting and execution. Mentioning Thor once in awhile was really low on my list of what problems the show has.

I´ve got to echo Krypton´s sentiment´s on this one, the show does not appeal to me either.

yep! i stand in agreement with krypton and the Real American hero duke!
that show is boring and bland.. i think alot of the reason i watch it is partly to see if it will get better and the marvel guy in me! there have been flashes like with the absorbing man but then it goes right back into its format and reallly the effects look pretty bad sometimes!
Angar the screamer was crap and so was Mr. Hyde who you never saw go full "Mr. Hyde" and i totally agree with Krypton in that Chloe Bennet is TERRIBLE! dang and i dont think she's that freaking hot!.... oh well! there's always more DAREDEVIL which is the &*(

I really enjoyed this show. It was one of those ones that was tense and left me on the edge all the time, wondering what would happen. I thought it was really well done too and I like how it fits in with the MCU movies as well.

I really enjoyed most of the 2nd season. But it is heavily crippled by Marvel's refusal to let them use significant characters from the comics. And half the time they do use comic characters, it's in name only. I have high hopes for the Secret Warriors next season. They better not screw it up.

I still haven't watched more than the first half of the first season. :p

I know "it gets better" is a well-worn argument for television shows, so, if you don't want to watch it don't. It doesn't matter to me. However, it is night and day between the second half of season one and the first half and even more in season two. You might watch season two and dislike it too, who knows. But you certainly shouldn't think the first half of season one is a representation of everything.

Have heard the show is really good now but haven't got back into it. When I originally gave it a chance it was terrible.

I never gave it a chance, don't have any intention of doing that.

Meh... It seemed more of the same to me just now instead of bland performances with underwhelming individual episode plots and dumb Skye in the lead for some reason, we get bland performances with an underwhelming Hydra arc tacked on because Winter Soldier was coming out and dumb Skye as a lead character for some reason. Also the reveals about how Phil comes back were too little and too late and frankly underwhelming. Sorry, but that show was screwed from the conception point. Phil, the one character that the audience had a connection to is sidelined for that first half rather than showcased. I have no idea why they thought that Bennet's sub Nick Sitcom acting or the character is what the wider audience would want. The writing in and characters in season two from the four episodes I saw were not any ort of improvement. When fans say "It gets better" it rings false because that's what was said to me about the first season. When Skye's ex shows up and they STUPIDLY get caught because they just needed a bra and panty shot of her so they decide to get it on in the middle of a manhunt for him I just gave up. That was all kinds of insulting to the audience. But of course people are all, "I know man... But it gets better." Well I took their word and watched through to the end... To utter disappointment. Then fans kept insisting that the second season was better. Four episodes in and I just couldn't continue. I gave the show it's fair shake despite the idiocy of the Skye character and the terribleness of the actress and the rest of the cast (Sans Gregg and Wen) and their blandness. I gave it a whole season plus four episodes... I'd say my opinion is an informed one at this point. I would say telling people not to bother is doing them a solid.

i like em bit i got real tired real quick of oh "Ohhhhh Frankie is the most powerful thing in the universe jazz!" and we are all scared of him! your freaking dad stretches and your mom turns invisible but Galactus is scared of you!?! come on! but when they stop all that. i dig em and i like val!

Agents of Shield is pretty good. It got a massive jump in quality after Winter Soldier and Season 2 was the s**t.

Could it be better? Yeah. But does it deserve all the hate it gets? Hell no.

Love Frankie and Val though. Making Val a super genius was a great idea that I came up with years ago and Mark Millar clearly stole from me. :o

I liked Franklin and Valeria in the Secret Wars prequel I got at Free Comic Book Day. But, aside from Days of Future Past, I haven't read most of Franklin's stories and none of Valeria's (actually, I think they were in Civil War. They were cool there). As precocious kids, they're fine. As overpowered superbeings (at least for Franklin), I'm not a huge fan.

I love those kids. They grew up as kids of some of the most famous people on the planet and dealt with more **** in a month than most people do in their lives. Hell, Franklin was orphaned twice when he was something like five then hung out with two mutants from the sewers for a while with Generation X and before that he lived with the Power Pack kids, who are all now at least twice his age despite most of them being maybe 2-3 years older than him before... Is Reed sure Franklins reality warper powers are off?

Val is cool since I love the relationship with Doom. She's pretty much the only person who can order him around. Her being a genius is fine.

THIS STUPID SHOW
Don't bring up Japanese Spider-Man on TV now.

I only ever got to see this when it was broadcast in syndication/re-runs as a wee lad. What's crazy is that I went crazy excited to see it even though even as a kid I knew it was many steps below what it could have and should have been. The origin stuff is covered pretty much beat for beat. The show is just hamstrung by what network suits at the time thought about comic book superheroes. At least the Hulk show had Kenneth Johnson, who while he may have changed a lot for the practicality of budget and change of media, still delivered a show that was the essence of the character. The Spidey show was just a bit of a dull mess.

I will give it this... Spidey's costume actually does look kinda menacing and creepy and I think that going back to Ditko it's really supposed to be a little creepy. Only the first Webb film delivered on that really and the suit here and on the ELECTRIC COMPANY. Spidey should look a little strange and sinister I think. It adds to his coolness and allure I think.

The Spidey show was entertaining & was pretty good for it´s time. The suit was rather well done as well. I recall I was visiting Mexico one time & I managed to see it with my older brother at one of the theaters.

THAT SHOW WAS TERRIBLE!! Hahahaha( and really yeah the one on the Electric Company was better!) even as a kid i could see his webbing coming out with fishing wire and wrap itself around bad guys!! and the Bad guys!! no Doc Ock! no Green Goblin! no Electro!( but what could you expect with a $5 production value!) all it was were the run of the mill TV Gangsters! reading comics as a kid i was like "What is this &*(!?!" at least TV Hulk had some soul, but this was just BLAHHHHH!!... but i ended up watching it anyway!:woot:.. cause hell! it was Spiderman! until they cancelled it after 2 seasons!

You´re absolutely right about that BV, but even the Hulk that was around that time didn´t utilize any of his comics vllains either. Heck, even Superman only used Luthor & yet he was totally unlike the version in the comics.....only thing that interested him was beach front property & the end of Superman.
