SPIDER-MAN

While I wasn't a fan of his marriage to MJ, I hated how it 'ended'. Also, I'm annoyed at how every media representation of him is a high school student. Also, Peter getting a science related job was LONG overdue. With that said, I'm a big fan.

He's the character I'm obsessed with the idea of being removed completely from the Marvel Universe, him, all his supporting cast, and all his villains
Except for Kingpin, he should stay to tick DareDevil and Punisher, and to stay as the plot device he's made to be

The funny thing is: He's my favorite character in fiction, I can enjoy and tolerate almost any bad thing he's in (minus a few games from LJN, and the Ralph Bakshi portion of the 60s cartoon)
Heck, I use Spider and hyphen in my handle after after the character

But I have this weird obsession

I have a top 3, have since childhood. First is Superman. Above all others. Second is Batman. And third is Lee and Ditko's amazing creation, Peter Parker. What can I add that so many will have not said already? I remember watching the 1960's toon with it's catchy theme song as a child in the late 1970's/early 1980's in NYC. Even in that form he was a departure from the "perfection" of the Reeve's Superman, or the obtusely over prepared Batman of the West show and toons of the time. Here was a hero that got beat up, had authority figures that were not always on the same page as him. His allies and friends could turn out to be his worst enemies. As an adult now, can it sometimes be a little too melodramatic at times? Sure. But then again, aren't we all melodramatic about our own lives more often than not? Parker ideally is all about trying, not necessarily succeeding. It's closer to the struggles of the everyday (even with the contrivances of a constant string of beautiful women and access to the elite world's of the rich and famous Pete always has, natch.) than 95% of the superheroes created since 1938. He's also been the one superhero that should be allowed to grow and change with times (the soap opera nature of the character DEMANDS it actually) but each time a true milestone should be reached in the last 30 years MARVEL gets scared and backs off. It's a shame really. He's almost designed to be the Marvel hero that changes and grows.

I like the Ultimate version of Peter, and I more or less enjoy his villains, but I don't really like him in the Avengers. I prefer him in more solo appearances and in his own little corner.

First is Superman.
 Hell yeah! quoted for truth and justice!

there are 3 (arguably) characters who have transcended beyond comics! SuperMan,Batman and this guy!Come on! the whole planet even if you never picked up a comic in your life knows who he is!
it's.... freaking... SPIDERMAN!! no matter what stupid marvel does to him! its written in stone! it's *does whatever a spider can* SPIDERMAN!

He will always be cool! He's ICONIC MAN! nuff said!

No exaggeration, Spider-Man is the reason I got into super heroes in the first place. The 90s Spider-Man cartoon was my favorite show when I was about six. I got a couple random comics with him in the late 90s, but that was about as far as it went for a while. Saw and loved the movies (the first two) when I was in middle/high school. Then I decided to get more into comics when I was in college and a guy at my local comic shop recommended Ultimate Spider-Man to me and I quickly devoured every trade for the title up to Ultimatum. My love of comics kind of snowballed from that point onward. While I'm more of an X-men guy now and I can't remember the last time a picked up a new Spider-Man comic (before Ultimate Spider-Man #200), Spider-Man is responsible for setting the whole thing off. Spider-Man did for me in comics what Harry Potter did for me in books: it got me interested in the medium. So, long story short, I love Spider-Man, but my wallet kind of hates him.

He's a great character, my absolute favorite and has this problem with Marvel thinking there's something wrong with him that needs fixing and they end up making things worse.

He had more benefit of marriage than editors think
I miss his marriage to Mary Jane

I am filled with an intense indifference when comes to Spider-Man. I was never that big of a fan, and thanks to years of back peddling on character development, I just flat out don't care anymore. Doc Ock's far Superior.

My opinion on Spider-Man?? Oh where to begin? I assume we are talking Peter Parker. Though I've liked a few other Spideys in my day.

The guy is seriously my all time favorite supehero. Perhaps even all time fictional character. Right up there with Obi Wan Kenobi and Ness (EarthBound/Smash Bros).

He's easy to relate to. Everyone loves an optimist. No one has more to brood over than Peter Parker and yet he does very little brooding. He has one of the greatest villain lineups, perhaps just under Batman and I feel like, despite his superpowers he's even easier to relate to than Batman.

Anyway, I've liked him since I was younger than I can remember. He got me into comics. He's got amazing stories in everything from video games and films to cartoons and coloring books. The guy is a hero.

Sam is the man. A great character, but... The retconning has made things strange and more inconsistent than need be. It's sounding like the Cap 2 film may be a big enough hit to actually affect the character so here is hoping aspects of the film Falcon rub off some. Still, Falcon was the first Afro-American superhero, and you can't take that away from him. If you don't know anything about Sam, "Snap" to it and get yourself educated.

The Falcon is a great character and one of Cap's best partners. It's always great seeing him serve in some capacity on the Avengers.

Love Falcon!!! i had his MEGO dol uh... " action figure" when i was a kid! Man! that thing would be worth some dough now! i love that he is a well rounded, well developed character and not just tossed in to be Steve's sidekick like Bucky was!( apologizes to all Bucky guys!)Sam is Steve's partner!they have one of the best "bromance" in media! see.. we can all get along!! love him!

oh and Anthony Mackie did a outstanding job ( i saw that flick thrusday)bringing that dude to life on screen!

%^& HAWKEYE!( from this book back in the day)

i want that dude in AVENGERS 2! he was so cool in the winter solider!
:cwink:

I though Mackie was terrific in Winter Soldier too.

The whole movie was great. I saw it yesterday and love the job the Russo's did. The cast had some great chemistry, between Cap, Widow, Falcon, Fury and Hill - it was like a mini Avengers movie. :woot:

I wish Sharon Carter had a bigger role and the way they left things with Bucky was a little surprising to me.
But overall I thought it was a job very well done.

Man! i hear you Run! I would put "the Winter Solider" up there with" The Dark Knight" which i consider one of the best Superhero Flicks ever!i was never a big scarlet jo as the widow guy but she proved her worth in that flick! they all did! i really didnt have many complaints regarding that flick!
man! one of the best things i freaking totally loved was ARMIN ZOLA and how they handled upgraded him to a legitimate threat in the bunker! i was totally blown away by that!
i agree the chemsirty bewteen all the players were tight! I'm so amped up for Age of Ultron!
