State Your Opinion on A Character

Here's the thing about Blue Beetle. . .

Unlike the rest of the DCU, he is one the few remaining legacy characters unscathed by DC editorial. He's a strong minority pressence and a helluva character at that. Plus, he's voiced by Will Freidie (sp).

I love all aspects of the Blue Beetles mythos. He's a classic golden age character whose costume and powers made no sense when attached to his name.

In the Silver Age, Ted took the character to a different direction and didn't have him rely on the magical scarrab. His tech was cool and Ted is one of the most human superheroes out there. Like the fans, he looks up to the heroes around him and his low self esteem makes him pretty endeering. Plus he got fat at one point which is funny as hell. On top of that, Night Owl from watchmen is based on him, which is fairly neat in my opinion. I wish the Charlaton characters were given more time together in the DCU proper. A Blue Beetle and Question book could have had real possibility.

After Infinite Crisis, I think Jaime breathed a lot of life into the mythos. I'm not a huge fan of the Scarrab being alien, instead of magical, but perhaps it's an alien magic. That would explain why the Wizard Shazam found it so tricky.

I think there is still a ton of potential to be gotten from Jaime. his run with the Teen Titans sucked, hard, but hopefully this reboot will open the door for his return. I don't think DC editorial realizes how important a strong, fun Titans team is, and Jaime could play an important role there. He's a comical character who's not a slack-off and isn't afraid of responcibility or leadership. He has cool, creative powers and he should be used wider throughout the DCU -- from Green Lantern, to JLI, to Teen Titans.

Well, he's not a legacy character as of this reboot, so that's one of your main points down.

The scarab crashes down on Earth in the Aztec or Mayan empire or something like that, and then La Dama has some dudes steal it in the present. Paco and Jaime encounter the thieves on the way to La Dama's house for a party with Brenda and get attacked. Jaime grabs the bag the scarab's in, a dude stabs him through the bag, which makes the scarab attach itself to Jaime, and then bob's your uncle, he's the Blue Beetle. But, like, the Reach-style Blue Beetle who wants to s*** all over Earth's Cheerios.

Well, how'd you think it would work? Superman's the first superhero anyone knew about. Unless Dan Garrett flew 100% under the radar for his entire career, he couldn't have existed, let alone had Jaime's scarab.

Also probably doesn't exist. Actually, I thought people basically confirmed that back when JLI #1 came out, since they mention that's the first time Booster's been on a Justice League roster or something like that.

Yeah, it seems especially boneheaded to regress Booster back to the goofball he was before Ted's death. I don't know why they wouldn't leave Ted in just for that, if nothing else.

Ted might show up later as the Beetle from Earth 2 and Booster will meet him when he travels back to WWII.

Or that's what's happening in my mind.

Why would Booster meet a guy from Earth 2 if he travels back in time to his Earth's World War II?

Maybe he travelled back too far in time, did something that he shouldn't which inadvertantly created Earth 2 as a splinter dimension, when he travelled forwards once more... then he can kick it with Ted.

Which would be good because I far prefer Ted Kord to Jamie...

I love Booster and Ted together, but I don't really mind that Ted's dead now. Wiping Ted out of existence completely just so new readers might be a little less confused about Blue Beetle now that Jaime's the only one, however--that's just stupid. Especially since Ted's not even connected to the scarab.

Maybe he'll be Nite Owl in this new universe. I mean, why the f**k not? Everything is already FUBAR. :o

Moving on.

F**kin' DC. :argh:

Firstly, it must be known that Ted Kord was one of my comic book crushes. And I really didn't like Jaime's new origins because it cuts out TED! :cmad:

Secondly I was like 'REALLY' when they did the whole Blue Beetle scarab magic-y thing (we're talking his original origin). But I really warmed up to the character because he is so reflective of the majority where I live. The original series and origin had a lot of heart, I didn't like him on the TT, he's one of those characters who makes sense being alone in his own area. To me he was like DC's Spider-Man. But better. I went back and re-read his original origin compared to the new one and the new one... just.... sucks.

On to Karen: Love her. When she's written well. I liked the Dynamic she had with Babs back in BoP because it was so... real. Not everything in the hero world is peach-keen and I thought that was nice characterization that rounded her out as a character. I loved the Power Girl series, I love her in JSA, I just.... really like her when she's written well. She's way more interesting than Supergirl because she's worked hard to get the respect she has. I like her better than Diana because she is more of a human than Diana is.

I likes PG, was so glad when DC just owned up to her origin and went with it though it didnt really help her out that much in the long run. Whenever they get around to DCnu-ing her back into the hero business, either just stick with the Earth2 origin or just give her Kara In-Ze's origin, with her being from Kryptons sister planet.

I :hrt: Power Girl so very much. She's confident clever and sexy and I love her attitude. Also she beat Magog senseless so that gets a  from me

Her series was pure wonderful fun full of evil apes, crazy leopard women and crazy alien lothario's

Also Blue Snowman got some love

Loved how Amanda Connor drew Power Girl as well it was absolutely fab

I should also add, that even with the peek-a-boo chest hole, I really think she has one of the cleaner, classier costumes out of any super hero.

I like it as well

She's not ashamed of her body and she doesnt feel the need to hide it. And she is drawn so she looks tough and confident as well as sexy so it doesn't just look like fanservice

I wish DC hadn't cancelled her series ;_;
