State Your Opinion on A Character

I hope this time around with this Nuboot, they atleast let Superman reveal his secrets to some of his super close friends who arent necessarly other heroes or just Lois. I think it's about time they let Jimmy in on the secret. Giving Clark a supporting cast that knows his dual identity can only open it up to some more stories to tell.

Yeah, I always felt bad for Jimmy. By the mid '90s he'd proven himself to be a talanted, courageous, and hyper-ethical photojournalist and dedicated friend to Clark and Lois. Guy deserved to be in the loop.

I think post crisis Jimmy can probably be trusted with the knowledge that Clark is Superman

Pre Crisis Jimmy Olsen couldn't though. He was a sinister jive mutha that's why Superman kept forcing him to marry apes

Yes, well, the main difference between Pre-Crisis and Post-Crisis DC is that Pre-Crisis DC thought it was more interesting when the characters' supporting casts were made up of incompitant bumblers who engaged in wacky schemes and Post-Crisis DC realized that was stupid.

I mean, Post-Crisis Batman basically had a mandate that Gordon had to be just as compitent as Batman, simply older and bound by red tape, and the comic is honestly better for it.

Damn Johns for killing off Pa Kent. :argh:

Need more John Henry Irons, too.

But yeah, I liked what they were doing with Perry up until he regressed immediately after One Year Later, where they hinted a couple times that he might know Clark was Superman, and was too good a reporter not to have figured it out. Either way, he was still a demanding mentor overseeing his employees, so he wasn't going to give Clark any special treatment, but there was the occasional moment where it wouldn't have seemed out of place for Perry to give him a wink and say "You say you were in the can with diarrhea while Superman was out here fighting Silver Banshee? Alright, Kent, whatever you say." :cwink:

On one level I felt it was slightly derrivitive because Batman basically has the same thing going on with Gordon, but then I figured Perry White is awesome and he deserves to be compitent.

Perry's been kind of inconsistent in that regard. Sometimes a writer will tastefully hint that Perry knows, and other times he'll be completely dumbfounded as to why the cleaning lady found a change of Clark's clothes in the supply closet.

I will agree with Corp and say Superman is the greatest of ALL time! I hate how he gets a bad wrap by non comic readers who just watch movies and complain that he is a goodie two shoes. He is supposed to be. It also annoys me when people complain that "he is to powerful" but then they complain that "it's stupid that his weakness is Kryptonite" just makes me want to pull my hair out.

I like Kara and Krypto too much to want Kal to be the sole survivor of Krypton; and I think the two of them, or any other character like that, to not be from Krypton is a cheat.

Thankfully I have never heard anyone complain about his weakness. But some people dont like goodie two shoes. Probably why the graphic novel did so well.

Those people are dead inside. And not the good dead inside like me but the bad kinda dead inside. The dead inside that leads to dead hookers. :o

I have a friend who once said that Homelander from The Boys is what Superman would be like if he was "for realsies" and is better.

That was the only time I seriously considered ending his life.

Reminds me of the morons who think Ultimate Captain America is better than Captain America.

Man Anubis i told you! you gotta stay outta GOTHAM! thats what you find there ( oh and in vegas too!) Man! go to coast city or gorilla city...! No! they might have dead orangutang hookers there! hehe:cwink:..

Anybody who dont like Supes should get Superboy prime sent after em!!( He gets really mad if you dont make him a cheese sandwich!)

Let me just put it this way, I'd rather it be Superman saving the day than Green Lantern.

Well, time to move on from Supes. He's gonna be indisposed for awhile.

Get your stinkin' paws off me you damn dirty humans!

Nightwing

Sidekick, Titan, hero in his own right, and even ascended to the role of Dark Knight.

I like Nightwing, one of the few sidekicks who has been allowed to grow up and come into his own. Still find it funny that DC wanted to kill him off originally like they have done with every orig. Titan at this point basically. Though it wouldve been nice if they had gone through with his and Babs engagement and eventual wedding to see how that adds to their stories.

Though I wish being a sidekick in DC didnt suck so much since they do everything in their power to either keep the sidekick young, or kill the sidekick off so they fully take over for their mentor or become a a-list hero in their own right.

Nightwing's great. He's the best of Batman with a dash of Superman thrown in. Excellent detective, inspirational leader, and acrobatic talent that's all his own. He's pretty much made of awesome when writers actually stay true to his character and don't try to darken him or make him do morally questionable things. I still think he should go back to being a cop, too. I loved that period of his comic. Now that he's in Gotham, he could be a star patrolman under Gordon, too.

Dick is awesome... :D

But seriously, I prefer him to Bruce a lot of the time. He's developed as a character much more than Bruce has over the years. And whilst he is still a guy with tragedy in his past, he doesn't dwell and brood on it as much.

I love me some Nightwing. I think it was a great progression for a great character, and I'm glad he's going back to that role instead of being Batman. To me Nightwing was always like his graduation into filling in his own legacy. Bluidhaven was a great setup too. Man those were some really fun issues back during Dixon and McDaniel's run. I really have to fill in the holes I have with that series. The thing I loved about it was that they let Dick be his own man without having to rely on Bruce all the time. It was also great to see him as the opposite of Bruce Wayne. Both lost their parents, but instead of becoming an obsessive man that's lost in his role, Dick took on his own responsibility but also learned to have a bit of fun with it. He's serious, but he's not going to let that **** destroy him as a person. I love Bruce Wayne too, but I think I enjoy Nightwing more because of how he handles being a hero. That's why I hated when they started making him all sad and depressed. That's really not where you go with a guy like that.

I believe when he became Batman I said he was gonna go back to Nightwing eventually and somebody argued up and down that he'd stay Batman.

Well, to whoever it was. I f**king told you so. :o

I don't see why people wanted him to stay as Batman. Batman is Bruce's thing while Nightwing is Dick's persona. I felt that Bruce would let Dick make his own legacy instead of having him around hanging on to his legacy.

totally agree he's bats without the "boo- hoo" my parents got whacked! Dick's all "My parents got killed too man! but I hooked up a hot ass orange skin chick,a hot ass red head and even a psychopathic vigilante chick( Huntress.that was for kicks!) dude Bruce you need to get some brewskis and relax with Catwoman once in awhile! Damn! I love he's alot more centered and balanced then Bruce will ever be and unlike Bats trys to do his best ,but knows he's only human and is going to mess up!! you wont see Dick keeping files on how to take down his pals! i would totally follow that dude! Loooveeee Nightwing ( and i said it before even the polyester high collar outfit!) WING ROCKS!!

I hope the Red Hood becomes an ongoing villain for Nightwing. While Jason is still kind of a moron, I've come to appreciate him as the dark opposite to Dick. Both were trained by Bruce, but while Dick took everything Bruce taught him, made it his own, and improved on it by being an even better hero (not detective or scientist or whatever, but straight-up hero who inspires others), Jason took everything Bruce taught him, saw only its potential for failure, and twisted it around to suit his own crazy purposes. Dick and Jason are equal opposites caretakers of Bruce's legacy at this point. Someone needs to play with that theme in the comics more.
