State Your Opinion on A Character

Why didn't they just make her Hyppolyta's younger daughter? That would have been so much simpler.

COIE, the Return of Donna Troy, her fling with Kyle Rayner, her baby who would grow up to be an EVIL EVIL villain...

Yeah, Donna's backstory is rather messed up. Thing is, instead of introducing Cassandra Sandsmark as the new Wonder Girl, Donna should have been given Raven-like status as a forever Teen Titan. She doesn't suck so bad while she's in a team.

Heck, I don't even know what her powers actually are.

Her greatest power is the power to confuzzle you with her continuity

I like Donna but the endless retcons and contradictions make it seem like the DC writers are betting each other who can write the most confusing Donna Troy story

Didn't she have a thing for Jason Todd in one of the Countdown storylines?

Or was I just imagining things?

I like Donna, though I dont know why it is so hard for DC to pinpoint who she is suppose to be. How hard is it to say that she is Dianas younger sister? As if the goddesses wouldnt be kind of enough to grace Hippolyta with another daughter? Or just go all Smurfs with her and say that Circe or Ares or whoever used a magic mirror to create a duplicate of Diana while she was trying to fetch Diana as hostage to use against Hippolyta? But she got caught and Hippolyta took Donna as her own daughter since she is flesh and blood.

DC wonders why WW cant sell to people and why she cant have another book. Maybe it is because they screw WW and everyone she is supported with royally over. They cant get WW down, they cant get Donna down, they cant get Artemis down, and now they are even re-origining Cassie. It's called choose a version and stick to it instead of letting every writer have their way.

That s**t didn't happen. (Except for when it did.) So, stop bringing it up. :o

Donna was on the Titans when Cassie was introduced.

And her powers are exactly the same as Diana's.

It never happened

You just imagined this comic book. It doesn't exist :ninja:

The only bit that should stay in continuity is Jimmy Olsen becoming a giant turtle monster and fighting Darkseid

Well, part of the problem with Donna's backstory was that she was created by accident. In her initial appearance, she wasn't a seperate character from Diana, she was just Diana in stories set when she was a teenager, in the vein of Superboy. The writer of Teen Titans at the time wanted to introduce a female character. He didn't read Wonder Woman, so when he saw Wonder Girl on the cover of an issue of Wonder Woman he assumed she was Diana's side kick and put her in the Teen Titans. When everyone realized what happened they hastily slapped together a story for her and introduced her in the Wonder Woman title proper.

It doesn't excuse not going with the obvious "She's Diana's little sister get over it," but it's not a good note to start on.

Ya I know. But to continue on that confusing path so many years after her creation was just absurd. And now she and Cassie rarely show up in WWs book which makes things even worse imo.

They should make her a Bana Mighdall or something. A natural-born daughter of Amazons, as a point of contrast with Diana. I never liked the idea that she was just a twin of Diana, like the Amazons just went, "Hey, gods... do-over?" and the gods were like, "Yeah, all right."

Moving on....

She may have one of the most confusing back stories in comics, but damn it if she ain't hot. :o

Deadman

DC_UNIVERSE_PRESENTS_1.jpg

Honestly, I don't see the appeal. :o

I like Deadman. His appeal for me is the tension between his very down-to-earth personality and the mystical juju he's mixed up in. Here's a guy with the ability to possess anyone, and he's as likely to use it to remind himself of what a nice, cold brew tastes like as he is to use it to safeguard Earth's dimension or whatever. He's fun, plain and simple.

I quite like him too because yep he's fun and kind of lighthearted

Her hair is sparkly :atp:

I love Donna. I really, really do. I've always been a bit apathetic about Wondie, but Donna is fab. Not saying I know her origin.. I've read like a bazillion of them, but as a character she's amazing.

Also has the best costumes ever... the starfield (SPARKLES!!) and that red one... :atp: I enjoyed her as WW in OYL. And I like Cassie. :hrt:

I just don't know why I'm not interested in Diana herself.

Deadman: ........never read anything with him I don't think. Love the costume though.

Pfft, there was only one character that could pull off the huge collar without a cape and that was Iron Fist.

He looks like Death from Bill and Ted's Bogus journey in his jammies. :o

He was absolutley personality-less in Brightest Day.

DEADMAN FREAKIN ROCKS!( and sorry Anubis anybody with that collar is tops in my book! and he's one of the few to keep that 70's style going, even fist got all up to date now!) I love dude was murdered and instead of "boo-hoo" let me put on some black mascara and cry on facebook why my life sucks! He was all".. Man! I'm dead.. i can jump into a chick's body and feel myself up! How cool is this!! hahaha some characters deserve to be all.. What the word you guys use " emo" but not everybody!I love he taken a bad situation and made the best out of it and jokes and &^%$ while kicking the crap outta people!Plus his name is Deadman! Deadman! how cool is that! like" you are going to be a dead man when i get thru with you! "Dude! see this big ass "D" i already am!... now i going to jump into your boy's body make him (BLEEEEEPPP) you and then i am going to jump out and laugh my ass off! DM ROCKS!!

She's very pretty :O

And I love Donna's costume as well. It's sparkly and beautiful and sexy and I dig how she was written in Titans and Wonder Woman. Its just her origin that bugs me

But I love her personality and her heroism. I really hope she hasn't been erased from the DCU

I just don't know why I'm not interested in Diana herself .

Have you read any of Rucka's Wonder Woman stories those are really good

But is that such a bad thing

Deadman? I... liked his episode of Justice League: Unlimited? He was pretty nifty there.

Other than that, I don't think I've read anything where he's played a significant role.

I like Deadman. Tough character to write for though.

While I already explained why I like Deadman, I will say that his costume is a little goofy. I know it's supposed to be because it's his circus costume, but even Robin's circus costume got to improve over time (and on a different wearer, granted). I'm not really sure how they could redesign him, to be honest, but I'd love to see someone at least try.
