State Your Opinion on A DC Character - Part 2

Kyle's great, he's pretty much the Luke Skywalker of the Green Lantern Corps and, IMO, one of the only truly good new characters to come out of the mainstream 90's comic scene. And of all the Lanterns, I think Kyle always has the most fun constructs.

I like Kyle. Though it sucks that everything has been taken away from him. His main title, his Ion powers, his girlfriends. Would be nice to see some of his personal life again.

He's okay, I'd like him better if they hadn't **** all over Hal Jordan and forced every other Green Lantern, including Alan Scott, to lose the title when they brought him in. In the end everything worked out all right, though, and thanks to that I have no issues with him. Although I can't call him the Luke Skywalker of the DCU.

Did Alan Scott have a title when Kyle came around?

Intercontinental and two cruiserweights...

Not of the DCU, of the Corps.
Kyle was the Torchbearer, remember? The Last of the Lanterns who ultimately redeems the fallen hero who betrayed them. GL/Star Wars comparisons are pretty abundant when you really look at it:

Kyle= Luke
Hal= Anakin
Will Power= The Force
Parallax/Fear= The Dark Side
The Corps= The Jedi (intergalactic peacekeepers run by a council of wise elders)

Comparing the emotional spectrum to the force hurt me on the same emotional level as the prequel trilogy itself.

Why?
They're both abstractly defined, intangible ideas that the heroes derive their strength from.

I think it's stupid and they shoulda went with Yellow covering all emotions, and have the other ones be other stuff, like, Power, Imagination, Mind, Soul.....you know, rip off the Infinity Gems. :o

Haha! Or The Planeteers! :awesome:

Kyle is my favorite GL. He actually has a personality as opposed to Mr. Pure Vanilla, Hal Jordan. Plus, as Wesley said, he always has the coolest constructs.

Yes, but one is painfully stupid, insulting to the intellectual maturity of even the youngest fans, is completely unnecessary, adds nothing of value to the mythos, and makes no sense at all. The other is The Force.

Kyle hasn't had a personality in years. He became the everyman lantern and lost his.

Love Kyle, I was one of the people that protested him at first then I sat down and read his stuff and loved it.

Because every character named Green Lantern had to lose that name when they wanted to push Kyle, including Alan...who was the ORIGINAL GL. It pissed me off (at the time) but it all worked out in the end.

As for Hal vs.kyle, I don't care. Alan Scott is Green Lantern, they are just replacements. Hal Jordan was in stories written by real science fiction writers like Fox and Broome, however. He doesn't work as a faux Marvel character like Kyle does, which is why they gave him the personality of the unresponsible *****ebag. He works best as a blank slate in stories where the plot is the thing.

I like Kyle. He's had some bad years lately, but if you subtract most of Geoff Johns and Ben Raab's work with him and ignore Countdown like anyone with any sense does, he's got a lot of great stories. The New Guardians seems to be positioning him to reclaim some of his greatness, actually. He doesn't seem to work too well as just a random GL in the Corps, so splitting him off as a renegade GL should be fun. The first few issues have definitely been better than GLC's.

Damn! have a little party and a hangover with cops and you finally come out a ruma( thats a rum and coke coma) and have to catch up
:cwink:
It's been 30 f**kin' years guys, let it go.
Hahahahahahahahahah yeah like 30 years from now you wont be Bi^%$(* on (skynet that will become of our future) how Barry sucked and Wally was better!:cwink:

World's finest
Rocks!! one of the greatest visually ever to me is Supes and Bats back to back in "public enemies" with both saying. If I gotta go down i am glad to go down with this dude at my back! Baby from Dionne warwick" THAT"S WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR! TO KICK THE *&&^% OUTTA BAD GUY ASS Together.

Cy-Supes Rocks!!
That dude is nasty as a villian pulling the crap he did. i love when him and Galactus teamed up to fight Supes and the FF and all the other crap he did! that name sucks though! come on Cyborg-Superman! getta outta here. he needs a cooler one!
Kyle
this
He's okay, I'd like him better if they hadn't **** all over Hal Jordan
totally agree though Kyle rocks. i felt for dude getting his girl stuffed in a frigadaire! That was cold ( no pun intended) and where i started to dig him but they didnt have to screw Jordan!
i also like Kuro that Miller can kiss my lightning bolt throwing butt for his treatment of Supes! it's not so much his writing or interpretation of Supes, but more that cause of him. people have latched on to that (like remoras to a shark) to that interpretation. That dude has influenced the public and the fanboy consciousness of Supes as the perennial Boy scout and for that *&^%(*& HIM!
