State Your Opinion on A DC Character - Part 2

I used to not like him at all now a days he falls into the "I can take him or leave him" category so I don't hate him. Yes he was much better in JLU

John sucks. He was all right in JL/JLU, but he sucks in the comics. Like, aggressively sucks. People look at him and go, "Why even try to write him well? Dude sucks." And that's why his cycle of suck will continue forever, even after Johns retconned in his Marine background--basically the least important part of why cartoon John was interesting, for the record.

But why is that?

Why does nobody pick up on what worked in JL/JLU and run with it?

I thought he was the most interesting member of the JLU when I was first watching it (other than Superman, of course ). I looked forward to episodes that centred around him, and that peaked my interest in GL in general.

God, John does suck so much. They did him so right in the cartoons and continue to do him so wrong in the comics. For a strong black man, he mopes more than anybody else in the DCU. It used to be that he would make incredibly complexed, detailed, structurally sound constructs. Now he makes sniper rifles. Lame. Plus, he killed Mogo. What a *****e.

He was so cool in JLU that he even made Vixen somewhat interesting. My god, I thought that was impossible. If they don't have Steel reestablished quickly, the DCnU will be complete void of cool black male characters. (Unless Static is doing something interesting that I don't know about.)

I thought it was pretty b----in' how he told some Sinestro Corps member all he had to do was stay black and die; and the sniper rifle was cool, too.

Steel's already made his debut in Action Comics #4. He was pretty damned cool.

Except he has possibly the worst costume update out of all of the DCU.

Old Steel had Iron Man's suit, with Superman's cape, and Thor's hammer. Now he looks like a first draft of Victor Stone had sex with Mickey Rourke in IM2.

Of course he was going to mope around DC put him on the backburner. You had goldenboy Kyle and hal had turned into a %*&^head.I believed he was only on that cartoon cause bruce timm wanted to use him. And I will use anubis thing" there are no bad characters just bad writers" and %^*head comic companies who don't know how to use characters right!

Which I didn't dig cause I grew up with hal on the league but I applaude timm tryin to add flavor!(just like hemidall which royally pissed people off hahahaha I just hadda) though I wanted hal and hate just adding a black dude cause I need on but.john has been around for a long time and back in the day he was da^&** and still is ...hmmm there's was another black dude on a team.. black something threw lightning.. what was his name again? Hehe

I always found the affirmative action complaints against the JLA amusing since they had a martian on the team. There's only one martian left. Doesn't get more minority than that. LOL!!!

Eh, it's a prototype armor based on the Metallo project. I'm sure whenever he shows up in the modern comics, he'll have updated his armor. Hopefully it'll actually look cool, too. It might even have a cool helmet instead of just a helmet molded to look like his own face. That's the one thing I've always hated about Steel's costume.

No. ****. Why would his helmet have a nose and eyebrows? And they should never move but they were always showing expression. Same thing with Batman's cowl eyeholes. They should not change to match his expression. Argh.

I don't know, I'd go with the fact that they live in a comic universe and there's effin' super sciences all over the place. I'd hope he goes with a liquid metal thing that molds to his body but provides all the cool s**t that his suit is supposed to have.

really dig Kilo! for alot of reasons , but mostly seriously that dude reminded of a for real freaking drill sargent i had in the military. the only other thing missing from that dude and kilo is his smokey the bear hat! That dude use to yell at me constantly. that &^%$ even called my comics during inspection "funny books!" ( I got you funny right here &^%%) I hated that *&^^%$#(*&^% DUDE SO BAD, but love Kilo and he ROCKS!... i think that dude even smelt worse! so that's gets Kilo points too!
