[Kurosawa]

One of DC's first attempts to do different (later on called Marvel-style) characters, Eclipso was ahead of his time and really works well in the modern heel/face turn soap opera comics. He was an odd fit in the more adventure/pulp/sci-fi era in which he first appeared but he works well now. It's the Jekyll/Hyde idea updated.

I like Eclipso, he has the potential to be a truly formidable threat. People seem to forget that he is God's wrath given physical form however.

Sand

Formally Weasly Dodds aka Sandman's sidekick Sandy, he spent a few decades as a giant sand monster, eventually being cured by his mentor. When the closest thing he ever had to a father died, he took up his mantel, as Sand....founding member of the new JSA and it's first chairman.....plus he found out he's got Earth powers and s**t so, alright. Then he banged Hawkgirl for awhile, then he got all emo and I just lost track of him.

I still can't call him Sand, but he's still pretty cool to me. His mask is pretty damn sweet.

i am getting my sand men mixed up. i thought the other dude gained powers but its was this one!? one welll i dig em both... but yeah! just"Sand?!?" That's stupid! they will always be sandmen to me!

Outside of Wesley, I could never keep up with all the Sand folks..so even if individually they are all pretty cool, I tend to lump them all as a big ol' clusterf***.

Sand was fine. I don't recall him being used much outside of the first post-Infinite Crisis JSA relaunch story. Costume is cool but I much prefer the Gas-pistol over his skeleton hands. Honestly, I'm too much of a Wesley Dodds fan to accept any imitators. Unlike, say, Jack Knight who made Starman his own, unique identity, Sand was always in Dodds' shadow and never made it past that. Plus, why would Sandman need a sidekick? Never made a ton of sense.

Sand had some pretty cool moments during the early JSA issues and he had some neat superpowers too. But as the series went on he just seemed to fade into the background

And then he became all angsty

And now he probably doesn't exist

I like Sandy as Sandy, the rest I can give or take.

Sand was cool at the start of Goyer/John's 90's JSA run, they even used him as the basis to wrap up the Hector/Lyta loose end from Gaiman's Sandman. But in recent years, the character's just been criminally ignored.

I am glad they gave him that cool "proper" Sandman outfit, though. Was never a fan of this:

Sand was a great legacy character. He and Wesley had an awesome story that culminated in Sandy becoming a worthy successor to Wesley. I love the mask/hat/trenchcoat costume, too. My only problem with him is that Johns reintroduced him as Sand in Justice Society of America and then promptly forgot he existed. No one's done much of anything with him.
