Coleen and Misty have always been pretty cool. White She Devil and Sista Girl indeed.

hahahhaha Damn Wolf all he did was ask a question!

anyways this next guy comes to us from the future where obviously the dress code is pouches and big honkin ass guns!! i prefer Dish network but he's

CABLE

Cable's a walking double edged sword.

I've seen him used awesomely (his recent solo series with Hope and X-Men around #200, prior to Messiah Complex) and I've seen him used horribly (X-Sanction/anything Loeb or Liefeld related/pretty much all of the 90's).

I also liked him post The Twelve when both his archenemy Apocalypse and his dad Cyclops were both gone. He was wearing Cyke's visor around his neck as part of his uniform and really developing a solid friendship with Jean. Sadly, he gets used poorly more than instances like that.

Only time i've liked him was in Cable and Deadpool. The Riggs and Murtaugh buddy cop movie of the comic book world.

His solo series following that started off well, then just became beyond boring because none of the characters were engaging enough and the story was just "Bishop attacks... Cable and Hope run away into the timestream! Bishop finds them again... Cable and Hope run away into the timestream..." repeated for nearly 20 issues.

Towards the end it was like that. Their encounter with the Brood was pretty cool.

Cable is terrible, just terrible. Everything bad about the 90's personified into one crappy character.

i agree with this sentiment!
if you have a super power... why in hell do you need a gun?!?( unless its to channel said power ala DC's Hitman!) that &^%$ never made any sense to me and for heaven's sake i still dont know exactly what cable's power is! ( other than to bore me to death) he's an 8.5 on the suckometer and it would almost take an act from god to buy his book!

I agree his main effect on me is that it reminds of the '90's style of comics, but I don't hate the guy for it. I'm just kinda indifferent to him I guess. He always struck me as having potential to be cool, and has flirted with it here and there, but at the end of the day he still strikes me as more *****y then anything...

Because he's also a soldier from a messed up distant future and his powers haven't always been the most reliable. He gets a bad rap from being written as a one-note antihero type from an era when one-note antiheroes were commonplace, and his convoluted origins don't help much either. But the basic concept is sound.

I haven't read any of the more recent stuff but I really liked the Cable & Deadpool run. The earlier stuff that I have with him are generally more style than substance but that applies to a good chunk of the 90's in general.

I too hate characters that already have powers that use guns, but Cable is different seeing as his powers usually don't work. Or rather they're being used to keep that whole techno Organic virus thing at bay.

and his powers haven' always been the most reliablel.
Then he needs to quit the hero/ anti hero biz and start selling insurance door to door whiskey man! Come on! let's call an apple an apple! He was made in a time where everybody had leather coats and guns!(I call it the punisher syndrome!)cause it was cool and we bought it! Unless you don't have any powers your ass shouldn't be carrying guns!

You must not have noticed the 'soldier' part.

Nevertheless, opinion stated.

I noticed it tango but I deemed its validity irrelevant since Cap, cap atom etc... are soldiers and don't need no stinkin guns( and I ain't talking about movie cap or bucky cap).. but hey this is State your op. Its cool you like dude! Me I would rather spend my money on the 1st part of your name!hehe

Cable is a fine example of why the correct fate for Scott and Jean should have been Jean dead as of Uncanny X-Men #137, and a grieving Cyclops retired from heroic service as of Uncanny X-Men #138. Two of my favorite characters, two characters that had as powerful and as perfect an ending as can be written, two characters that never needed to be seen again, and everything with them since then has served to cheapen and sully their characters. Cable is garbage, he is everything that is wrong with 90's comics, and everything that is wrong with comics period. I do not accept the characters existence on any level.

Time travel characters tend to suck. Non-core X-characters tend to suck. Cable is both, and therefore sucks hardcore.

Cyclops return was inevitable, but the birth of Cable gives me the tendency to agree
Wish they never resurrected Jean

She beat Galactis you know
Jean? Guess what; giving a mutant cosmic powers and a very dark personality to follow these powers is pure stupid BS, I always hated that idea, and it was kindly better made in the 90s cartoon, having the Phoenix a being in the Mk'ran crystal taking aid from Jean's physique

Wasn't that whats her name that beat Galactis? And even then, wasn't that really more of a Stalemate?

It was Rachel and someone posted the scans a little while ago. Galactus admits to being pretty hungry and thus weaker than usual, so it wasn't a fair fight. Thor's scared a hungry Galactus away all by his lonesome, but I don't think anyone really puts him on the same level as Galactus (or the Phoenix, for that matter). Exceptional circumstances and all. Meanwhile, a well fed, fully prepared Galactus is currently tearing several Celestials new a**holes in Fantastic Four right now.
