State Your Opinion on a Marvel Character - Part 1

I'm glad in the movies they adapted how J.M.Dematties and J.M.S wrote her, not the goofy old lady who's too stuck to her house and barely knows anything, with the annoyingly repeated "That awful Spider-Man"

Marv Wolfman made her kinda smart, Denny O'Neil followed on what was done from there, they needed to keep things that way instead of getting her back to "That Spider-Menace" until Dematties comes along to save her again

BTW; I wish she remained dead after the second time (but I love the current direction and how she was used)

EDIT: Yeah, the tidbit runawayboulder talked about

Aunt May seems a bit too old. She's more like grandma May. How did Doc Ock get involved with her? She even seems old enough to be his mother.

It all started with ASM annual 1 when he kidnapped her and Betty Brant, treated them like a gentleman host and May admired him
In ASM 56 he became her house guest, she remembered and welcomed him
Later she was scolded by Gwen for being too maternally protective to Peter, and she left her home to go to that nice Dr. Octavius
He found out about an island she inherited while she was serving and wanted to have it
Somehow, he fell in love with her

Last time may seemed worthwhile was when she was with jarvis and making fun of wolverine in avengers mansion. Other than that she's best served dead at this point, she doesn't add anything other than another person to kidnap or have old person sex with JJJJr's dad (which just doesn't need to be in any comic).

If we're talking about Ultimate Aunt May or 616 "I know you're Spider-Man" Aunt May, then I have nothing but praise for her. Otherwise, she can go fu#% off.

Sabretooth - I've always liked him but agree with others that he's been badly used over the years. Although his early appearances are probably best, I also quite liked it when he was portrayed as a stronger version of Wolverine that Logan just couldn't beat in a straight-up fight. I'm guessing they gave up on that 'cos Wolverine's too kewl to be beat?

Aunt May - the nan we wish we all had. That thing with Doc Ock is just weird though.

Like everyone here, I very much prefer the smarter/stronger Aunt May, but I still don't overtly dislike her when the writers brush past her. She's alright in my book.

Hell yeah! Aunt may is awesome! she would give you the last dime of her social security check!!!.. and wolf it's the regular universe not the ult one! ( Vulcan doesnt do Ult... only if its thatValkyrie outfit!Hehe Thats for Dark:cwink:!) most heroes are past their origins. Bats parents gone, Supes parents /homeworld gone. Cap's Dr. Erskine gone. Iron man's Yinsen gone. May is a "living" connection to what started his career as Spiderman. seeing her is why he puts on tights and in this world of jerkbage heroes. it's cool to have someone who's a part of your life who aint cynical to all the *&^% you see!plus she would give you cookies after the Scorpion kicked the *&^% outta you!She rocks man! a 10!

what?!?! old chickens make good soup!! Hahaha

Aunt May is essential. Seniors get completely forgotten in comics and pop culture in general as only youth is celebrated. Spider-Man is nowhere near as interesting without her as a major part of his life.

I've grown a little tired of the little old lady from Pasa..er...Spideyville. I can't decide if I think its time she left this mortal coil or just took a different turn with her lifestory (like the previously mentioned departure to Boston). She can be cool sometimes, but a little of her goes a looong way with me.

I thought "Red Sonja"

Yeah, her bra does look a bit like hers now that you mention it. But doesn't Red Sonja have red hair? I saw the pic on an article about ultimate Valkyrie anyway. It's certainly not the metal disc costume with the loincloth that is about to snap at any moment (we hope).

Hahaha dark! you and this Valkyrie thing are killin me!

Hey! it's troublemaking 2 for tuesdays so that means 2 guys who are more trouble than they are worth!1st is ( looking at clipboard) i cant read this name.. Mister Mxyz.. uh Mxyzp ..um Mister Mxyzp.. Oh HELL

Pip is cool but TIM is awesome as awesome could be.

One of the funniest comics I've ever read:

I never really cared for Impy. Seemed like a poor man's Mxy to me. :o

Pip's awesome. Been really cool in X-Factor.

while i dig pip! Imp is cool as hell i see the similarities with Mister Mxy, but that whole saying my name backwards for an omnipotent being was like huh?! what the hell?!?!( yes i know they changed it to were if you got him to do something else alll that yadda yadda!) one of the best stories

where dude went to to marvel comics and wanted a book made outta him and Stan refused Hahahaha was cool as hell!!that whole mixing of real world and fantasy was awesome to me pip's a 2 and TIM's a 4 on the rocktor!

Not really a fan of either. Both are too annoying. Impossible Man showed up in an issue of Spider-Woman once:

You wouldn't have known it from the cover though, apart from the green tint Spider-Man had, but that could've just been the lighting.

Can we have another sexy female character to discuss next time? :oldrazz:
