Oh snap, we're talking about Hela? Hela's the s***. Oddly enough, one of my recent favorite Hela stories is featured in Avengers Prime by Brian Michael Bendis, of all people. Hela gets her hands on Surtur's Twilight Sword. 'Nuff said.

But yeah, I like Hela. It's actually kind of cool when you think about it: the Vikings were a heavily patriarchal society, yet Asgard's main powers are Odin, Hela, and Karnilla. Or Hela, Karnilla, and the Allmother now. Progress!

If you had just put that Journey Into Mystery Jack Kirby picture with her fully clothed, I don't think she would've had much of a response. Certainly not from me anyway. I would've though "boring" and waited for the next character.

I have the feeling the next character on the list is going to be completely unsexy and a complete contrast to Hela.

Now as for Hela... wasn't she responsible for that curse on Thor where he didn't heal and he was wearing all that exoskeleton stuff? Loved that part of Simonson's run.

The curse was to turn his bones brittle and then I think Hela horribly scarred Thor's face with her death touch. He grew the beard to hide the scars, then one of the Marauders broke his arm during the Mutant Massacre stuff, which led to the Simonson armor as a means of protecting himself. Fun fact: Thor forged the Simonson armor himself on Earth using Mjolnir, except for the right arm, which was actually a high-tech brace designed by Tony Stark to keep the broken bones in that arm from setting all f***ed up.

I liked when tony and thor were better friends. They're back and forth was one of the more fun relationships in AEMH.

I don't know a lot about Marvel Hela but here's what I know of Norse Mythology Hela:

She is Loki's daughter. Le gasps. Don't think that's true in the MU.

She has two bros, not sure if they are mentioned in the comics. Well one of them was actuall supposed to be the Serpent who appeared in the Fear Itself storyline, but they made him Odin's brother.

She's supposed to be half corpse and half hot lady. Apparently from that pic she seems to be all hot lady. That's easier on the eyes.

Plus she's not really supposed to be wearing ANYTHING...

And isn't she the goddess of the dead...?

If that's the case, they need to get rid of all trace of clothing. NOW! All for the sake of accuracy, of course.

I think everyone seems to prefer the "hack" than the Kirby design. Clothes don't really suit her anyway.

**********1st A Public announcement****************

1) Next Friday is my last.My tour of duty will come to an end. I’ve covered pretty much the guys I wanted to. On Saturday, whoever wants to take over, can step up and have their shot.( with the same rules as Anubis and Random put down). Hehe next Friday will be my last all-time favorite person!( well for me anyways! Somebody too cool who would probably never get the stage!

2) I'm going to be jumping all over the place. There will be surprises. Like naaww how can they be???there will be 3 or 4 a day sometimes and most likely “Who the &^%$ is that??? But it’s to be expected! I am just warning you but they are all Marvels... and now on with the show!
