This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]483823[/split]
Product placement (as long as it's not too over the top) doesn't really bother me. I'd rather see real products in movies than generic replacements.
It doesn't bother me either. It didn't bother me even in movies that are usually hated for "too much product placement" (MoS, I, Robot..).
I don't know how unpopular these are:
- I don't mind reboots, remakes and other kinds of re-dos and I do not believe that they somehow diminish the original films.
Considering that, I enjoy "The Haunting" remake in all of its over-the-top, surreal dated CGI, awesomely designed scary haunted house, random ghost tropes glory. Its very silly movie, its not very good movie (not very bad, either), but I enjoy it, so there...t: Same goes for Universal's "The Mummy" reboot..
- I'd like to see reboots/remakes of some of my favorite old movies (especially Metropolis, Universal Monsters flicks, This Island Earth, Forbidden Planet and such)... They might end up being bad, but they, also, might end up being better than originals, would't be the first time such thing has happened..t:
- Nostalgia aside, almost all of the live action TMNT movies are of same or similar enough quality, at least story and character-wise. Even the "TMNT III" (which I admit is the weakest, but I think thats mostly because it looks like low budget flick, to me at least).
Agreed. Product placement does not bother me at all. I don't understand why it gets under so many peoples skin.
on the reboots and remakes I agree with you mostly, but I do feel the term reboot and remake means two totally different things and the meanings seemed to have been lost a little. So many movies coming out being called a reboot or remake when technically its a sequel and not a true reboot or remake. but to your original remark about them not bothering you, I agree. There have only been a few of these that I did not care or want to see but usually I'm fine with them.
Product placement is bothersome when it feels excessive and unnatural, like in Man of Steel and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It pulls me out of the movie.
I realise that it also pays for the money, so I accept it.
Yeah, I don't remember anything significant from TWS?![]()
Yeah...they advertised HYDRA quite excessively in itThere was excessive product placement in Captain America: The Winter Soldier?
I believe he's referring to the Apple store scene in particular.
Yeah...they advertised HYDRA quite excessively in itt:
It's a two edged sword....if a scene is written where a character goes to a computer store so that they can use a computer, they can either have them go to an existing computer store or create a fake computer company and have people acting bewildered about where the hell they are.
To me bad/excessive product placement is like in a lot of the old Roger Moore BOND movies where a character does something out of the blue with a product for no apparent reason or like in the Bill Cosby movie LEONARD PART 6 where he has a conversation with his daughter holding a bottle of COKE in the middle of the frame with the logo perfectly framed and never actually drinks from it.
Some reboots are better than the originals.Dawn of the Planet of apes and Star trek are great examples
