Horror Stephen King's "IT" Part I and Part II

The casting is absolutely perfect looks wise. Couldn't have done it better, however am I the only one who wishes they looked older?. Aren't they supposed to be 40 when they come back to Derry?. They all look like they're late 20s lol.

None of them look like they’re in their 20s.

James McAvoy is 39. Jessica Chastain is 41. Bill Hader is 40.

People in their early 40s don't look like senior citizens, lol. ****, I'm 40 and still get carded.

Yeah, Mustafa/Chastain/Hader have already passed 40, McAvoy and Ransone are 39, Jay Ryan is almost 37, and Andy Bean is like 34.

omg...

I recently saw Sinister for the first time and this guy is so likable! I'm really glad they cast him here

He was the only real fan casting that I was rooting for and I had zero expectation it would actually pan out. So glad he's cast in this.

I'm glad he was cast as he's the only actor I thought of that got picked.:word:

He's going to own as Eddie, though. I think he'll turn some heads. Like, never mind that he looks like a grown up Eddie, he even sounds like him.

Bill Skarsgard told USA Today that he's been hard at work freaking out the new grown-up members of the Losers Club, particularly Jessica Chastain. Skarsgard said, "There was a moment in the script where Pennywise has a line and I took a little beat before I said the line and projected my voice really loudly as Pennywise. And I got her pretty good." He added, "The whole room jumped. I let them know what's coming."

On slipping back into the terrifying character, Skarsgard said, "It's a strange thing. I put in so much work to figure him out in the first one, and coming back to him now, I was surprised how much the character was already there.
In addition to rattling his co-stars’ nerves, Skarsgård has been working to “amp up the character a little bit, or the threat of him, and explore new things that haven’t been explored. This is the final showdown and it’s going to be different.”

The people playing Mike, Eddie and Ben look nowhere close to 40 imo. Look at the original IT adult actors, they definitely looked like they were 40 imo. These new actors look easily 10 years younger than them imo. Maybe the film will change my mind when I see it. Maybe makeup will age them slightly, but as of now, aside from the looks being perfect counterparts to the kids, I don't think they look old enough.

Isaiah Mustafa (Mike) is 44, James Ransone (Eddie) is 39 and Jay Ryan (Ben) is almost 37. People look different at 40 from person to person. I've seen 40 year olds who look like they could be 50-something and 40 year olds who could easily pass for 30.

Those set pics of Chastain mean she was most likely filming the scene where she has the "domestic situation."

That is one scene I need them to improve from the miniseries; it was so tame. The scene read very vividly in the novel

Out of curiosity, how old are you? I notice younger people tend to have this idea that being 40 is really old, where you should have gray hair, and wrinkles. How should they look?

The one playing Mike is 44. A 44-year-old needs age makeup to look 40?

So, just to be clear...

This isn't believably 40?

I'm 32. Also people seem to be miss interpreting what I'm trying to say. I know the ages of the actors themselves. I K own they are age appropriate for the roles. I never said they weren't. I said they don't look 40. Everyone of those actors look early 30s at best, to me. Think about it from an audience perspective watching the film. These characters suffered a terrible, almost nightmarish childhood that they never truly got over due to the nature of what Pennywise did. They should look a bit more haggered like the original adult actors did imo. The new actors just appear to youthful for their respective ages for me. Again I'm not speaking for other people here, this is just my opinion. Nothing more.

I’m nearly 40 and nowadays, when I get carded, I take it as a compliment.:woot:

In the book, the characters have mostly forgotten about what happened to them as kids until they get the call from Mike. They also all went on to lead successful lives for the most part so there's no need for them to look haggard.

Exactly. I mean, until Mike calls him, their time in Derry is completely forgotten. Bill doesn't even remember how Georgie died until Mike calls him. Plus, it's not like the film makers are trying to ask the audience to suspend their disbelief. Most of these actors save one or two are literally as old as the characters would be today. How young they look is irrelevant.

Also, the original actors might have looked more "haggard" simply due to the era the mini series was created in. I find people just generally looked older back then.

40 looks different now than it used to. And not all 40 year olds look the same. Like Paul Rudd exists, so just let that sink in.

Look at Jared Leto. He's like 46, but looks to be in his early 30's.

It seems once you hit 40, the view is you may as well go to a field and put yourself down, life is considered over.
