Stephen King's "IT" remake has found a writer - Part 1

Most crews start out confident in a new project. Even bad projects usually start out with hope and confidence.

I hope its good, but Im not expecting it to be. The only person I trust with mainstream horror (which they sewm to be aiming for) is James Wan. Every other mainstream horror director seems to **** the bed or just barely deliver a decent film.

My expectations are on the floor. Hopefully it surprises me. But for now, I am still fuming about Fukunaga/Poulter leaving.

I'm determined to go into this with low expectations. I just want the tone to be similar to the original (which wasn't a perfect movie, either).

wait who have they cast other than Pennywise?

Here is a list of the cast for the IT remake. As for the Loser’s Club only the kids has been cast so far and it’s hard to say how well they will do. I haven’t seen them in anything so it could go either way but let’s hope they are right for the parts.

Bill Denbrough - Jaeden Lieberher
Beverly Marsh - Sophia Lillis
Stan Uris - Jack Grazer
Mike Hanlon - Chosen Jacobs
Eddie Kaspbrak - Wyatt Oleff
Richie Tozier - Finn Wolfhard
Ben Hanscom - Jeremy Ray Taylor

Pennywise - Bill Skarsgård
Henry Bowers - Nicholas Hamilton
Patrick Hockstetter - Owen Teague
Javier Botet - ?
Georgie - Jackson Robert Scott
Al Marsh- Stephen Bogaert
Rabbi Uris - Ari Cohen

Kinda wish they weren't splitting the kid/adult portions. The adult stuff was the strongest IMO.

I have to agree.

Wan is probably the best horror director of the past 15 years or since 2000. The only one who comes close is Mike Flanagan (Oculus, Hush, Absentia) and he barely has a resume. Eli Roth was never good to me.

Come to think of it, I can't think of any 90's horror directors who made a big name for themselves who weren't already hugely successful from the 70's and 80's (Carpenter, Craven, Romeo, etc).

So in that regard, maybe Wan is one of the best ever, lol. Who knows. :oldrazz:

Andy Muschietti just posted this photo from the IT remake on his Instagram. Scary...

I'll remain skeptical, but I have to admit... the fact that this is actually happening is getting me VERY excited.

Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) could also have been an interesting choice. And she seems to be a horror fan (and has spoken up about the lack of female directors in horror films) which is a nice bonus to boot.

Well thats one way to get attention for your movie.

The story part with the kids is going to take place in 1989 for this film, instead of the 50's. I like that better :)

Can't believe this movie is happening. A cast and set pictures exist.

Stephen King is having a damn good couple of years, with this, The Dark Tower, Cell, and 11.22.63. Aside from Under the Dome, I don't think King has had any mainstream adaptations since like 2007.

Pennywise Has Arrived...

Swedish actor Bill Skarsgård has arrived on the set of IT but have not been seen in his Pennywise makeup yet. Guesses is that since he has arrived he will soon try out the makeup. Should be very interesting to see how they do that. Stay tuned for photos as soon as I get them.

For more photos of Bill on set head over to Just Jared.
