Stephen King's "IT" remake has found a writer - Part 2

This looks as generic as it gets (haven't read the novel, though).

I mean, Stephen King literally wrote the book on modern horror, so it's just that he's been imitated so much as to be the norm.

Does anyone have a link for GIFs? Can't find any when I search.

Great trailer for this! The hype is real!

This looks great. I can't believe I'm legit excited for a horror movie. I've never actually seen one in theatres but I might go for this one.

Too many jump scares in this trailer. I was hoping we'd get a more creepy vibe.

About that last scene in the trailer with Ritchie surrounded by clowns.

This entire sequence was not in the film i saw, so I'm interested to see if this is something specifically used for the trailer, and left on the cutting room floor or something that was ultimately added later.

I remember it from one of the drafts i read. If i remember correctly, it's in the final third of the script.

The new trailer is creepy, we saw more of Pennywise than I was expecting.

Someone on Facebook said the sequence was in one of the later screenings back in May.

So good, far better than the teaser imo.

The cinematography looks so beautiful! Love the room with the dolls setting

This looks great. Love the emphasis on the Losers and how they have got no one but each other. Ultimately that's what the book is all about.

Pennywise is creepy as ****. I just wander if the marketing is blowing it's load with him.

IMO the design of the original Pennywise was extremely poor, this is finally the kind of Pennywise I want to see.

See personally there is no subtlety in the design it's a standard evil clown, I know others have said it but no kid would ever go near him. There is no trap to spring. The guys who directed killer klown from outer space said it perfectly. "The point of evil clowns is they lure you in you don't think about it until it's to late"

The costume is great as an evil demon but It doesn't just click with me

Considering Insidious and Sinister are two of the best modern horror films those are two good films for this film to emulate.

Again maybe I'm just not getting it, insidious was decent and had some good points but sinister was pure junk I watched it on recommendations of friends and was just sitting counting down each jump scare.

I really hope this film is amazing I want a huge big budget king as we've not really had a creepy king film from the likes of salems lot or pet cemetery I'm just cautious I'll see it just not getting overly hyped for it.

Its been a while since I read the book, but I dont actually recall the kids in the book ever wanting to go near Pennywise or finding him funny so why does Pennywise need to look like a friendly inviting clown?

As for the design, aside from the yellow eyes (which are blue and normal when he isnt in murder mode) and the general creepiness of every clown ever, what is so frightening or evil about the design of this version of Pennywise? The goofy hair, the exagerated receding hairline, the gigantic bulbous forehead, the laughable victorian era clown outfit, buck teeth...? Those things arent really "evil" traits. Those are standard clown aesthetics.

People keep saying this version Pennywise is too evil looking but when he isnt in murder mode and popping out and glowering creepily in the dark he just looks like a clown. Not an evil clown. Just a weird clown. Stop thinking of this design in the context of the creepy scenes we've scene in the trailers. Scenes in which he is meant to be scary and meant to frighten the kids. Think of this design purely in its own terms in a normal environment like at a sunlit fair. What is too evil about this design?

The red smile going all the way to his forehead, that's pretty weird and something I've never seen on a clown.

Then again, this happened

So it's come to this. Complaining about the subtlety of an "evil clown" design. I was unaware that clowns were subtle designs in the first place.

The "He's too scary" argument pops up every time there's a trailer or picture released.

Of course he's creepy/scary looking. It's a horror movie and they're showing us his creepy/scary moments in the trailer. I doubt they'd want to sell this on "Look how goofy and innocent he looks!"

In the script, he's able to seem a bit more innocent, but it's really kind of a moot point, as to a younger child, he might seem innocent anyway, even if he's creepy and ominous to older kids or adults.

The kids in the book are well aware there's something not right about Pennywise, even without his monster form.

And finally, this thing feeds on fear. How do you feed on fear if you're not scary?

Exactly. The book never depicts Pennywise as looking harmless and friendly because it's trying to lure kids. The only time he does that is with Georgie. Every other time he's either being creepy as hell (eating a severed arm for example) or taking the form of something terrifying like the leper or the giant bird.

Pennywise says in the book that the kids taste so much better when they're afraid. That's why he scares the hell out of them before he kills them.

The Doubled Toasted guys say they want to dress up as clowns and go to a screening of it together. :funny:

The first trailer didn't grab me, but man this second one sure did. I'm 100% on board for this. It looks like my kinda creepy.
