I'd prefer they kept the adult cast, somewhat lower level or unknown character actors. I would hate to see someone like Chris Pratt in the sequel.

This is actually not a bad cast, minus Molly Ringwald (who is way too old to play Bev) and Matt Damon, who is way too big a profile actor to play Ben. I also think Chadwick Boseman might be too handsome to be Mike, who is sort of an every man, fade into the woodwork, character.

Bill - Corey Stoll
Bev - Jessica Chastain
Bill - Scott Speedman
Richie - Bill Hader
Eddie - Colin Hanks
Mike - Andre Holland
Stan - Johnny Galecki

'IT''s gonna be massive. The pre-view number is already in blockbuster territory. 'IT' pre-views are bigger than some big opening CBMs (Thor+DS+WW+Logan+Cap+more)/Fantastic Beasts/Godzilla etc.

Cap 2 - 10.2 million
TDW - 7.1 million
DS - 9.5 million
WW - 11.2 million
FB - 8.75 million
Godzilla - 9.3 million
F8 - 10.4 million

'IT' is quite clearly in the monster OW territory right nao. Even if the movie is hugely front-loaded (very much possible), it can still manage [13.5x6]=81 million. That'll be amazing.

The only big name actor I feel they could get is Chastain but only because she worked with Andy Muschietti and they're like friends now. So she wouldn't be asking for too much or her usual amount to do his movie. Unless WB/New Line decide to double the budget or something for it.

Did a quick check on Fandngo Pulse and 'IT' it selling like hot f**king cakes atm. SM:H, Dunkirk, THB, Annabelle 2 are being obliterated while apart from a few stray 'Home Again' and 'Ragnarok' tix, 'IT' is dominating like kkkrazzzy. This thing is blowing up for sure.

I want Joseph Gorodon Levitt just cause. :o

This not real enough for you Billy? Am I, not real enough for you?......It was real enough for Georgie haha

I would put it in the top 5 of the past 10 years personally. Glad to hear another person dug it!

Easily. It is rare a horror film is just as good when we are not in the scary moments. Bravo!

Agreed. It had so much heart. I was just rooting for all of those kids.

And it was heartbreaking as well...

...the scene where Bill is saying goodbye to Georgie, even though he knows that's not him, was just devastating. As bad as all of that was, I think he needed that moment.

Definitely top 3 for me with The Conjuring films. I love it when i can watch a horror film and love the craftsmanship, acting and character work as much as the scares and boy are there scares in this!

Also, I think one of my favorite non-pop culture 80s references in the movie was how those kids were always just dropping their bikes whenever they left them somewhere. God, I still remember getting yelled at for doing that. :funny:

With such a huge box office WB can get whoever they want for the chapter 2 not just Flopstain

It doesn't even have to be R Rated low to mid budget movie. Just make a good movie and market it well and you'll be fine.

There has been a big trend for the last 20 years to shy away from r rated material because pg 13 allows for a wider potential audience which necessary to recoup 150 million dollar budgets. This has created a situation in which film has mostly ceded adult material to Television and with it many talented Filmmakers have shifted their focus to TV.

Let's hope we re starting to see the pendulum swing the other way.

She's an okay actress but I really don't think Chastain would be all that great of a choice for Beverly.

She's an okay actress but I really don't think Chastain would be all that great of a choice for Beverly.

Seeing that she has worked with the Muschietti siblings in the past and she is good friends with them, the only way I see her not joining Chapter Two is if there are scheduling conflicts or if she gets pregnant.

My first choice for Bev was Kelly Reilly so if Chastain isn't cast, I honestly think that's fine. Chastain just seems to be the most logical choice for the part.

Sadly, I won't be able to watch it till the next Thursday.

Anyway, this is quite a victory for WB's wallet, horror lovers and King fans.

I mean she is a fine actress but good God her recent movies flopped hard

I know that's why it was funny cause it fits I never really liked her in anything besides interstellar and I'm skeptical of her in X-men dark phoenix but then again Kingberg has me worried about the whole project :csad:

I'm just back from see this. I loved it. The cast overall did a fab job honoring the characters of the book. Skarsgard owned it as Pennywise. He was a combination of charming, darkly funny, creepy and outright terrifying. Every scene he was in was memorable. Every time he appeared I was mesmerized by him.

The kid actors all did outstanding work. Even the underused Chosen Jacobs as Mike Hanlon. The losers had great chemistry, and I totally bought their friendships. Special shout outs to Bev, Bill, and Ben. I think they really hit the emotional beats. Richie was hilarious.

I think Henry Bowers was serviceable, but he is one part that I think the mini series did better. The original Henry felt more savage and psychotic like the book version, and his hatred of the losers felt more real and intense. Even the infamous rock fight between the losers and the Bowers gang was kind of spoiled by the comedic music and goofy slow mo shots.

Muschetti did a first rate job recreating many of the famous scenes from the book. Eddie and the leper, Bev and the blood in her bathroom sink, and of course when Georgie met Pennywise (which was so much more gruesome than I expected).

I got a kick out of all the 80's pop culture references. Batman '89, Beetlejuice, A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 5, New Kids On The Block etc. They did a great job of making it feel like the 80's.

Overall a terrific movie. My favorite of the year so far. One of the best adaptions of a Stephen King book. 9/10 from me.

UPDATED 12:07 PM: After a screaming preview of $13.5M in previews in 3,500 theaters last night, Stephen King’s It is performing exceptionally well in matinees and may end tonight with a big $47M Friday for New Line and Warner Bros. That would put It on course for a three-day opening record weekend of $100M for this genre which would bring it to the second-highest opening for an R-rated pic (only behind Deadpool‘s $132.4M) and enjoying the biggest weekend opening ever for a horror film by a long shot.

Horror writers rejoice. Every studio is coming for you. Today. Get your **** in order and make another killing.

Three years from now we'll all be discussing the legitimacy of 'horror fatigue'.

September was a great decision to open the movie. I remember thinking it could be during Halloween but that's when the Oscar bait and contenders usually start opening up.
