Which miniseries did you watch?

I know. I was being sarcastic. I don't see how anyone could find the miniseries to have more dread and scares than this new version.

I know you were baffled by that comment and your post was sarcastic. I just wanted to post a Pennywise gif. :D :D

I haven't watched the miniseries nor have I read the book. So I wouldn't know a damn thing about 'IT'. I'm excited about the movie. Gifs are always great tho and Tim Curry's Pennywise has some nice gifs.

Fukunaga for sure would have made a more dread inducing, bleak film, but I'm not sure he would have pulled off how much heart this version has. That's the part I was most unprepared for: just how moved I was gonna be by this flick.

The miniseries was good for its time, but it feels quaint now. Not remotely scary. It was a made for TV movie in the 80s and has that same feeling.

I like the original series for the camp and for what it is, but there's no part of it that's remotely scary.

Seeing it again today in IMAX. I wanted to mention how heartwarming the Blood oath scene was, the music was absolutely perfect for it. The last time i cared for a group of kids this much was for the Harry Potter series and Stand by Me before that.
The order of them leaving teased what was to come with Stan leaving first and Eddie leaving second, which makes the scene more bittersweet.

Don't get hung up on casting nothing but A listers, Andy was able to strike gold with chemistry from these kids, make it a priority to find that perfect balance again with the adults.

The film was incredibly moving I found, maybe a yearning for an era gone I don't know, (I was of similar age as them in the same time period, if, just a little older) and the feel was very much Spielberg / Stranger Things / Stand by Me, I found it so rewarding to watch. Loved it.

They are aspects in the core story though, they are there in the novel, it's the evil of guilt & neglect the town has, as to this force of being, ignoring what is happening and the town being a manifestation of the plight of the loser's club. Everything they are afraid of exists in Derry and so that is why IT exists, it's an entity surviving on the downfall of the self perpetuating evil within itself.

The film only casually brushes over that by way of the fat kid and some other brief exposition. I thought it was a huge mistake. By and large this film is mostly "Here's an evil clown. Here are kids. Clown likes to eat kids." The trailers had me fooled thinking I was going to get something far more dynamic and better buildup.

Can't say I'm shocked though. Hollywood is pretty "safe" and formulaic these days.

#ITMovie earned $16.1M from 46 international markets on Friday. Overseas total now $25.7M.

In what way do people think there was no 'atmosphere' ? In what way, for me, it had in spades....

Anyone else sit there wondering why the movie didn't discuss what became of all the floating kids that were found at the end? I mean that's a pretty huge element.

An estimated $3.05M of the $51.0M opening day gross for IT was from IMAX.

The IMAX share of the OD is 6%.

Sitting in the theater now. I can't wait to see how this turns out.

I really hope they cast Bill Hader as the older Richie. That would be genius.

He would also fit the part for Bill as well. They really look a like.
