While i do disagree with a lot of what Thanos has posted, i do agree that maybe having Tom return in the middle of the 2 hours would have been an idea... give us an hour to see how the crew are coping on their own.... But i thought the 2 hours was great.

and the preview for the season is looking great!
 
Judging by the promo at the end of the premiere, this season looks dark as ****, which I approve of whole-heartedly. I was so into the premiere that I forgot that Terry O'Quinn would be appearing later in the season.

Even though I like the show, the whole thing doesn't make sense, realistically, the aliens should have killed them all already, they have the means to do so, but then the show would be over. :oldrazz:

And of course, the "bad guys" can't win. If I was the showrunner, I would have the aliens rule the Earth for good or destroy it, yes I know, depressing! :woot:

Yeah, i would have done one of two things...

1. /either make the first half strictly picking up from Toms experience in the ship..to his linking up with the group the first half of the movie and only show TOM.. create reverse mystery as the status of the group being still alive.

2./ or drag out the mystery to a later time and omit tom all together for now...

honestly those scenes with tom alone were the best scenes in the episode..and it's not necc becuase i think many of the other actors lack talent...(which i do)

...those scenes brought forth some of the potential of the series...and they conveyed some cool moods that actually set up some decent and creative vibes ....moments like the tragic feel of the girl w/ mother and meeting the other prisoners only to witness them gunned down.


it was incredibly implausible also that TOm just bumped into his mates...forgot about that..I mean incredible
 
15 minutes into the premiere.

Already better than last season, and I can't put my finger on it.

IMHO last season seemed cheap, and it also seemed like they were trying to capture the "human" aspects of the struggle without dealing with the war. The action parts of the show, while not high quality (CG is kinda cheap looking) are the most entertaining imho.


There is a more "serious" tone to the show so far. I like it.

Well, it's good enough... gotta keep it on TV. Ain't enough sci fi.
 
I definitely prefer this season's tone. Last season was way too sappy in parts... "awwww let's all stand around and laugh and smile while the kid rides around on his new skateboard" Get your **** together, people. You're fighting a war.

Which was kinda another reason to stretch out tom's absence..

What would have been cool if they went more into him as angry about TOm's probable death. Which i guess is still out there (in terms of his edge), but could have been more explored.

Possibly....but is this a thread for pure adoration of the show or a meaningful discussion of all the aspects and viewpoints?
 
Both. You can continue nitpicking things like the shade of khaki the characters are wearing and the rest of us can carry on being rational and stuff.... :oldrazz:

Most of us discuss the show (good or bad). You tout your "advanced writing/thinking prowess." There's a difference.

Why don't you get busy on that screenplay of yours, instead of worrying about this awful show?
 
I thought it was a good premiere, really liked the stuff with Tom on the alien ship and the overall tone. I'm curious what that thing from Tom's eye was really up to and is it me or is Hal actually starting to sound like Tom?

My only real complaint is the move of Ben to being more central, I get his connection to the aliens is going to play a big part this season, he is just kind of irritating.

I can tell with this season that they have more money. Because I was very impressed by the production value and CG for a television show. I was already impressed with season one, but they have outdone themselves here.

And Maggie... sweet lord that woman is all kinds of fine.

I agree the tone of the show is a bit more serious and there is more of an overall feeling of dread. And that's important because it keeps the show moving. I totally enjoyed the previous season, but Sawyer hit the nail on the head with how annoying that stupid skateboard scene was. I kinda wanted one of the those giant robot walker things to drop out of the sky and squash the little brat like an ant. :D
 
Season 2 is for sure a step up from season 1...it's much more entertaining.
 
I like the mobile nature of the group this season. kinda makes more sense to be on the move like this than holed up at the school they were at last season
 
The show was never awful. And is now even better. :o
 
Can't wait for tonight's episode.
