Steven Spielberg's Falling Skies

I realized that I'm no longer invested in it. I watched the Strain which was infinitely more interesting and entertaining and dropped this. It's too bad because the story was so potentially strong and instead wandered into so boring and stupid I can't be bothered anymore.

Wrong thread. I was referring to Under the Dome and somehow inverted Steven Spielberg's name with Stephen King's. :o

I don't know what you guys are talking about, I still love it. Sure, it isn't as heavy handed as The Strain or The Walking Dead, but it doesn't have to be. It isn't meant to be The Godfather. It is the Independence Day of TV; an action filled adventure with likeable characters (I truly felt for Weaver).

^ just feels like it's starting to drag and lose focus.

"Heavy handed" meaning what in that situation?

Otherwise, I'm still watching, still am entertained but I don't feel any passion for it, it's kinda like "Oh new episode of Falling Skies, okay, let's watch it" without any excitement whatsoever, it's one of those shows that I like to know where it goes & what happens but wouldn't be bothered much if it suddenly dropped off the face of the earth.

It's just not on the same level as some of the other stuff on TV on Sundays but it does the job.

I like this show. I realized I accidently posted my dislike for Under the Dome in here by mistake. This show is a bit heavy and slow but it's still entertaining.

not really liking the daughter (Lexi) story line.

poor Jeanne, poor Weaver.

poor Weaver.

At least they concluded it, instead of being this thing that was hanging over Weaver all season.

I was actually worried that he might have turned traitor because his daughter was being held hostage somewhere.

Glad I was wrong.

Poor Weaver, what a horrible end for his daughter. :(

Falling Skies was renewed for a fifth & final season

Probably for the best. My biggest fear for this show is that it wouldn't get closure. Five is a good time to end it, no risk of it getting stale. It can end while the quality is still high and give viewers closure.

Indeed & with that third race coming. They can even things up about by taking out one or both of the current alien races. Besides Toms bff alien friend of course

Glad they have an end in sight and not just wandering about with no set destination for the series.

Probably a good decision. I feel like they can only escalate things so much. It's already wearing a little thin for me, hopefully this can draw me back.

Hopefully the fifth and final season can make up for season 4. ;)

Well we have yet to even see the big picture of the season, so there might not be anything to make up for, but right now, it's just not doing much for me.

One more season to wrap the story up sounds good to me. I think the disjointed nature and abrupt change of the character dynamics have been jarring for many this season, plus the Lexi stuff is not very good.

I binged the four episodes of the season so far, and... My assessment is more or less in line with the majority here. There have been some good moments like the ghetto escape, or Weaver's moment with his altered daughter (and that made me think how much there is a lot of death of various characters on the show. Not enough for some but for me it keeps the danger level just right.), but... It really has not been focused, and this seems to be the general problem with the series each season. The difference is before it was the writing of the human characters, now, I just don't think that what the Overlords/Eshspheni makes much sense at all. I don't get what their game plan is or what they are after and adding in a fourth alien race seems a bit lazy. I generally like all the characters and some I am even fond of. But some have crossed the line of me not caring just because the growth for them has been nil or the writers have never had a good handle on them, like Lourdes. Again, I am invested in the characters and will most likely see this through to the end. But I am not exactly happy with how this series has been handled almost from the start. There's still potential there but it's starting to feel too late for this show to be more than just a summer time killer.

There are 12 episodes this season.

Good stuff with the Weaver/Tom/Matt story this week and I didn't realize the new chick with Pope was Mia Sorvino. The Lexi stuff needs to escalate and soon.

Yup, Lexie looks really nasty though, it's kind of distracting for me.
