"It's Not How It Looks": Murder Suspect Defends Selfie With Corpse

775332534672138825.jpg

Today in news that reads like bad satire aimed at amoral millennials: the tale of Kirsty Edmondson, a 23-year-old sex worker who allegedly killed a former teacher with a lethal heroin dose, took a selfie with his body, and lived in his apartment with the corpse for a week.

Edmondson and her boyfriend, Christopher Sawyers, are charged with the murder of Kenneth Chapman, a 47-year old resident of Eccles, UK. According to the Daily Mail Online, Chapman was a client of Edmondson's, and the two had a "fling" before the murder. After the killing, the pair allegedly stole money, a TV, and a computer, and posed as the victim in a text to a relative asking for more cash.

In court today, Edmondson denied killing Chapman but admitted to stealing his stuff. From the Daily Mail:

She added she 'wouldn't kill anybody' before insisting: 'I'm not a killer, it's not how it looks'

Edmondson, who admits stealing money and property, told the court today she was 'deeply ashamed of what I have done before and after he died.'

She continued: 'I might not be sat here bawling but when I go back to that sweat box and realise everything that's happened, believe me, I'm paying for it.

'I would never kill Kenneth Chapman. I wouldn't kill anyone but I definitely wouldn't kill him.

'I'm not that type of person. I have got no reason to want him dead. I didn't do anything towards killing him. Christopher Sawyers did.'

Edmondson alleges that Sawyers (who she calls Twinny) carried out the killing, and that she complied because he convinced her she'd go to jail if she went to the authorities. The trial is ongoing.

Then what was the point of taking pics with a corpse?

Drunk Bullfight Assistant Lets Bull Into Crowd, Total Chaos Ensues

[YT]uH4bHDwFLY8[/YT]

Residents of Ayacucho, Peru hold an annual amateur bullfight to mark the closing of the Senor Espiritu Santo festival, a celebration that dates back to the 17th century. This year, things got a little out of hand.

According to Reuters, many participants and onlookers at this year's fight prepared for the violent spectacle in the only reasonable way: they got drunk. One such drunk person was an assistant who took it upon himself to cut the rope separating the audience from the ring, letting the bull out to interact with the crowd. You can probably imagine how that went.

The video above shows a hectic scene. Matadors are toppled over; a boy leaps onto a truck to escape; a woman pushes her reportedly inebriated husband out of the animal's path. At the end of the clip, several people hold and publicly whip the assistant who freed the beast.

At least ten people were injured in the incident.

It is a barbaric sport but it obviously still involves skill. The guy who late this bull lose deserved that whipping

Father Charged With Murder for Leaving Son in Hot Car for Seven Hours

Justin Ross Harris, 33, of Marietta, Ga., was supposed to drive his 22-month-old son to the on-site daycare facility at the Home Depot Headquarters in Atlanta where he works. It wasn't until his drive home seven hours later that he looked back and realized that he had forgotten his son, who was still strapped to his car seat and had been for the duration of the hot day. By then, his son had died. Police have charged Harris with murder.

Upon discovering that his son was still in the backseat of the car, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports, Harris pulled into a parking lot to attempt to resuscitate his son, to no avail. Dale Hamilton was among the witnesses to gather at the scene to try and help.

"He was lifeless, he was in the same position as if he were sitting in the carseat," Hamilton said. "It's something that I'll remember for a long time."

Another witness at the scene heard Harris say, "What have I done? What have I done? I've killed our child."

Medical personnel attempted CPR, but were unsuccessful. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Temperatures in the Atlanta area reached 91 degrees Wednesday, the day of the incident. According to the arrest warrant obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Harris was charged with cruelty to children in the first degree.

That's horrible, and every parents worst nightmare. Who among us hasn't forgot something in the morning? He obviously didn't do it intentionally but one would think your child would be pretty high on your priority list. And the child was 22 months so it's not like he just became a dad a month or two ago.

It was reckless but not intentional which makes it only moderately less horrible. I'm not sure what occured that he could forget his child in the backseat that way. I've forgotten little thing before like a bag of groceries or such but a child? Extreme exhaustion? Distraction? Drugs? There has to be a very good explanation for how you forget a child.

A Former Tea Party Congressman Tried to Say the N-Word on the Radio

I didn't know there was a thread on this in the Politics forum (the Redskins losing their patent ownership) and instead discussed it in the NFL thread in the Sports forum.

This Tea Partier misses the point though. I made a reference to using a lesser offensive term as a counter in another defensive article claiming it (the Redskins name) was meant to "honor" them (American Indians) instead does not make it acceptable.

This is too horrible to think about. The kid was 22 months old so you think he may have been talking or babbling as they rode along. How could you forget them?

Just the other day my 8 year old daughter asked to stay in the car while I went into the daycare and got our 5 year old son. I told her "No' because it is common knowledge not to leave children or pets in a hot car. In addition to the heat, you always have the threat of kidnapping. As a parent, you have to think about that kind of stuff.

Florida "Foot Goddess" Arrested Over Underage Group Sex Video

Miami police have arrested 3 people in connection with an underage group sex video allegedly filmed Wednesday. One of the suspects, 19-year-old Bianca Byndloss, is a self-described "porn diva" and "foot goddess" who does sex shows on Skype and runs a Tumblr dedicated to her feet.

Byndloss was arrested Thursday night following the previous arrests of Christian Hernandez, 19, and Bryan Yanes, 18. The three are accused of orchestrating a sex party with three young girls (ages 12, 13 and 14). Hernandez allegedly posted clips and photos of the session online.

The foot goddess has a number of previous arrests, on charges including burglary, theft, and battery. She was recently accused by a Skype client of taking his money and running.

She saves her more explicit photos for her Twitter account, where she describes herself as "Miami's po$hprincess aquarius goddess up-cumming porn diva born and raised in miami dade baby!"

Byndloss has been charged with three counts of lewd and lascivious battery on a minor and promoting sexual performance of a child. Each carries a maximum sentence of 15 years.

Very High Man Understandably Confuses Car for Alien Spaceship

James Bushart, 44, of Arkansas, is apparently familiar with meth, but has never seen a Plymouth Prowler before. He was arrested this week for DWI and drugs after cops say he menaced a couple in the car—which he thought was a spaceship—and told them to take it back to their alien planet.

The driver of the car, Jay Ward, says Bushart followed him and his girlfriend as they drove their Prowler around town. Bushart then stopped short in front of them, exited his own vehicle, called Ward an "alien" and yelled at him to "take his spaceship back to where they came from," according to Little Rock-based Fox 16:

What the victim, Jay Ward, seems to think caused the problem was the car he was driving; a Plymouth Prowler...

"That was my biggest problem with what was going on was how upset he was. I guess in reference to the vehicle was the only thing I could think," Jay explained. "I was a little upset about that mostly because I also had a passenger with me that was concerned for her safety as well."

According to the police report Bushart claimed he was curious about the car because "it looked like a futuristic machine."

Ward was concerned he might have to resort to the concealed gun he carries, but he left Bushart to police to deal with. They found meth and a pipe on the man before arresting him.

"At one point, he also told police that he was 'a very big deal' and that he had 100,000 Asian flowers," Fox 16's Josh Berry said in his report. "Exactly what that means, we're not sure."

Woman Who Helped Ducks On Side of the Road Could Face Life in Prison

777906425596208935.jpg

A Canadian woman who parked her car in the left lane of a highway to help ducks by the side of the road has been charged with two counts of criminal negligence and dangerous driving causing death after a motorist crashed into her car, resulting in the death of the driver and his 16-year-old daughter.

Emma Czornobaj, 25, was convicted by a jury and could face up to life in prison. When Czornobaj stopped on the side of a provincial highway south of Montreal to aid the wandering ducks, Andre Roy, 50, slammed into Czornobaj's car on his motorcycle.

The woman told the court that she is an animal lover and intended to take the ducks home. She has been released until her pre-sentence hearing on August 8.

The case's prosecutor, Annie-Claude Chasse, told the court, "What we hope is that a clear message is sent to society that we do not stop on the highway for animals. It's not worth it."

This is what being a stupid hippie gets you. What kind of idiot parks their car on a highway because of ducks? you think you were going to give them a better life than they already had being free? Sucks 2 people had to lose their lives because of this morons thoughtless actions. Just another case of some hippie animal lover that thinks animals are more important than people

I wouldn't want to see ducks splattered on the road any more than she (and I would hope, most people) but I would have taken reasonable precautions to avoid an incident like this. For one thing, I wouldn't block traffic and make sure that I was clearly seen and visible. And if necessary I'd let the ducks die rather than cause an incident like this to happen.

Something tells me had she not stopped the ducks would have managed to be just fine.

Congress Won't Decommission Nuke Silos, Which Is Dumb And Dangerous

776709340071372873.jpg

The closure of military bases is fraught with political peril, since they pump millions of dollars into state economies. So, when members of Congress learned that the reduction of 50 nuclear-armed nuclear missiles could shut down Air Force bases, they pushed for a compromise to keep them open.

The number of land-based nuclear missiles is being reduced in compliance with the New START treaty that the U.S. signed with Russia in 2010. The U.S. plans to remove 50 ICBMs from their silos over the next four years—the missiles won't be eliminated, but decommissioned and placed into storage. But, the removal of 50 missiles would be sufficient to close down an entire Air Force base, which didn't sit well with lawmakers representing the states that are home to those facilities—Montana, Wyoming and North Dakota.

In response to the outcry, the Defense Department agreed to remove a handful of missiles from each of the bases. The empty silos would be kept operational (known as "warm status"), and the bases would continue to maintain and guard them—in case the U.S. ever planned to put the missiles back in service. As a result, all of the ICBM squadrons remain operational, and there's no need to shut down the bases or even layoff any personnel.

But, as the LA Times reported, not everyone approved of this deal:

The decision to largely spare land-based missiles is at odds with the recommendations of some outside experts, who have called for eliminating or deeply cutting the Minuteman III and relying instead on submarines and bombers to carry nuclear weapons.

Bruce Blair, a former ICBM launch officer and founder of Global Zero, a group that seeks elimination of nuclear weapons worldwide, said it would have been more cost effective and "strategically sensible" to eliminate an ICBM squadron.

Because it is in a fixed location, a Minuteman III missile is more vulnerable to a surprise nuclear attack and therefore would have to be fired quickly in a crisis, making it more destabilizing, Blair said.

"It is designed strictly to fight a large-scale nuclear war with Russia," he said.

Still, Congress got what it wanted, and that should have been the cue for everyone to declare victory and go home. However, Representative Steve Daines (R-Montana) has now added an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act, which would block funding to decommission any additional silos that currently house ICBMs.

The White House released a statement opposing the amendment:

This section would impinge on the President's authority to determine the appropriate force structure to meet nuclear deterrence requirements, to determine the number of strategic delivery vehicles needed to meet national security requirements, and to implement changes in those forces. While it is the President's determination that 50 of the current 450 Minuteman III silos will remain in a non-deployed—warm—status, this provision would tie the hands of all presidents with respect to force structure….Moreover, as the Department currently plans to perform routine testing and maintenance on some silos, which would temporarily isolate them from the interconnected and redundant command and control system of the missile field during overhaul, the provision as drafted could prevent the Department from conducting this necessary testing and maintenance.

In other words, this amendment, if passed, would effectively prevent the president and future administrations from permanently eliminating any additional ground-based missiles, if they ever choose to do so. It also prevents the White House and Department of Defense from changing the balance of the nuclear arsenal, if, for instance, officials should decide to shift more nukes to submarines.

And, the amendment, as worded, would prohibit the Air Force from taking ICBM silos offline for maintenance or troubleshooting. As the Great Falls Tribune reported:

Such a situation occurred on May 17 when a missile crew was performing standard post-maintenance tests on an ICBM assigned to the 90th Missile Wing at F.E. Warren AFB in Wyoming.

The crew received system indications from one of its launch facilities that required a maintenance response, said Lt. Col. John Sheets, spokesman for AFGSC.

While on site, the maintenance team found abnormal indications on the missile, was unable to resolve them in the field and took steps to ensure the site was safe, Sheets said.

"The missile has been taken offline to facilitate a full engineering assessment and safety investigation," Sheets said.

Feel safer, now?

Is there anything congress can't **** up?

She intended to take the ducks home? That's not helping the ducks. I'm sure they'd rather be moseying down the road than trapped and scared and confused in the house of some moron who doesn't know what she's doing.

That is an excellent point and a welcome change in the usual things we hear about

Yeah.

You can't assume that someone is gonna see your car. Stupid enough to park not he left hand side is baffling.

But boy, one mistake like can cost the lives of two people. It could've been like any other day but she screwed it up and people have died over it. However... I don't think she deserves to be in prison for life. Her act for the ducks was absolutely careless, but not malicious.

Well IMO any sane person should know not to park your damn car on a highway. Her careless actions resulted in the death of 2 people. I doubt she will have to spend the rest of her life there but she definitely needs to pay for her crimes

Boy Invents Extremely Detailed Kidnapping Story to Avoid Dentist

778033445667395248.jpg

In order to avoid going to the dentist, a 12-year-old boy (a 12-year-old dentist avoiding hero) in France ran away and, when found, created a detailed kidnapping story. Police looked for his kidnapper for an entire month.

French paper Midi Libre reports that the boy, from the Alpine village St-Gervais, was picked up by local police when they saw him hiding in the village on May 21st. He immediately told the cops that he had been abducted from the nearby town of Bagnols and proceeded with his story, via The Local:

He even gave the officers a detailed description of the man who had abducted him – "European looking, aged in his thirties, of muscular build with a height of around 1.70 and a vertical scar on his right cheek".

The kidnapper was also wearing a black shirt and light jeans according to the boy. Police quickly drew up an e-fit image of the alleged abductor.

The young boy was also able to hand over details of the car he was driving and of course what happened during the abduction.

The boy told the officers that he was going to his dental appointment ("Which I, you know, was really looking forward to—I mean, seriously, suuuper bummed that I didn't get to go. Most people don't like the dentist but I'm like, 'Why?' You know? I'm like, 'Why not?'") when a man pulled up to ask him for directions. He said that he was then forced into his car and only escaped when the kidnapper stopped briefly in St-Gervais.

Upon further questioning this week, he finally admitted that he ran away and invented the story because he was afraid to go to the dentist.

We can assume that this is a fair representation of his escape:

Texas Day Care Investigated for Duct Taping Children to Sleeping Mats

778237136076541840.jpg

A Texas day care center is under investigation after admitting to duct taping children to their sleeping mats when they wouldn't sleep during nap time.

A photo, shown above, of a boy wrapped in a blanket and taped by his legs and chest to his sleeping mat, was taking by an employee at Heart2Heart Montessori Academy in Parker County. She circulated the photo among parents and quit her job shortly after.

Lorrie Almquist, mother of a 3-year-old boy who was also duct taped, received a call a day later from the day care's owner, Pam Decker. According to ABC News, Almquist said that she took full responsibility for the incident, and confirmed that her son had also been taped down:

"I felt violated and I was irate. I couldn't find any words to say to her. I was so hurt and saddened to think that my child had to go through that."

Almquist also told ABC that Decker had been complaining for weeks that her son was unable to sleep during nap time, and had requested that Almquist buy a weighted blanket to help keep him down. She and another parent contacted the Willow Park Police Department and Child Protective Services about the incident.

According to ABC News, Heart2Heart also reported the incident to authorities, but defended the actions in an email to parents:

...Heart2Heart's director, Ashlea Pena, said the children were not harmed and described Decker's actions as "thoughtless" and "foolish."

Pena, however, defended the school, claiming that the situation had been "extremely exaggerated by a very upset parent." She added that "the child involved was in no way harmed or caused any distress, in fact within 5 minutes he was sound asleep with his arms tucked under his chin. And woke up smiling."

Almquist, of course, thinks this defense is ridiculous:

"Ashlea Pena has a daughter that's less than a year old and I know she would feel the same way if this happened to her daughter."

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services' Child Licensing Division has launched an investigation, which could last up to 30 days.

What kind of psycho does this to little kids? The lady trying to act like it's no big deal is even crazier. Does TX not make people get any training or get screened in some way before they can open up a daycare?

Okay, i'm abit confused. It's true what she did was stupid but that said, the guy in the bike hit a stationary object, right? her car was already parked, and its not that she suddenly slammed on the brake whike the guy was riding right behind her car...

It's stupid that she parked her car because of some damn ducks, but she could've easily stopped because something else, like her car suddenly malfunctioning or flat tires. How is it that the biker couldn't avoid hitting a stationary object? speeding? not paying attention to the road?

Depends on where in the road she stopped, if it was just after a corner for instance when he comes around the corner he wouldn't have time to stop. Even it is on a straight part of the road normal people don't assume someones car is stationary.
