Police say a southern California couple were so invested in a Parent-Teacher Association rivalry that they tried to frame a parent volunteer by planting drugs in her car.
Jill and Kent Easter were both arrested after allegedly conspiring to hide marijuana, Percocet and Vicodin inside PTA volunteer Kelli Peters' car. After receiving an anonymous tip, police detained Peters for more than two hours and searched her home before letting her go.
When the search failed to turn up additional contraband, police figured she had been framed.
Prosecutors say the Easters were retaliating against Peters, who allegedly called their son slow and left him unsupervised at their Orange County elementary school.
Last year Jill Easter pleaded guilty to false imprisonment and served a 120 day jail sentence. Prosecutors are having a harder time convicting her husbandan attorney, who they say physically planted the drugs and called in the anonymous tip to police.
According to the New York Daily News:
Kent Easter then called the Irvine Police Department and, using a false name and an Indian accent, told the dispatcher that Peters was driving erratically and had hidden a bag of drugs in the vehicle. Kent's attorneys have never denied that the man made the call.
He's reportedly blaming his wife for the incident.
Belgian photographer Bruno Brokken is in critical condition after having 396 gallons of water dropped on him from a firefighting plane at a height of only 22 feet near Girona, Spain. That's thousands of pounds of water.
Water weighs 8.34 pounds per gallon, which makes the weight of this aquatic payload just over 3,300 pounds, roughly the weight of a Toyota Camry. Now imagine having that dropped on you from 22 feet high. In addition to the weight, the speed at which the water was traveling is also a factor, so it's no surprise the guy was badly injured.
While there is no argument that the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has been a huge success in raising money and awareness for research, the compelling need of some people to become a viral video hit is alarming. There have been some fun results from people who have taken it to the next level, but sometimes that backfires. Less than a week ago, a Scottish teenager drowned in a cliff-diving stunt, thought to be linked to the challenge.
It's tragic (and perhaps coincidental, considering his name?) that Mr. Brokken suffered injuries as a result of this stunt. A little more forethought would have suggested using much less water. I wonder how his photos came out.
A 16-year-old girl who allegedly attempted to fly to Syria to join a militant Islamist group was arrested at an airport in Nice on Saturday, French officials say. Her parents reportedly had no idea what she was planning.
According to TIME, police arrested the girl before she was able to board a flight headed to Turkey. Also arrested was an unnamed 20-year-old man who French authorities say recruited her and paid for her flight.
The facts of the case may sound startlingly familiarthat's because just last week, two female French teenagers were also picked up by authorities after allegedly attempting to travel to Syria to join militant groups.
French officials say as many as 800 French citizens have already migrated to Syria to fight alongside Islamist groups. According to NBC:
[French Interior Minister Bernard] Cazeneuve urged parents who suspect that their children are displaying signs of "violent radicalization" to call a hotline he created in late April. Since that time, 300 reports have been called in, a quarter of which were regarding children and 45 percent of which involved females, according to the Interior Ministry.
A Florida man is facing a charge of misdemeanor battery after he allegedly groped a female Taco Bell employee's butt through the drive-thru window during fourthmeal Saturday morning.
The Manatee County Sheriff's office says Philip Guerrero, 38, placed his order at a Bradenton, Fla. Taco Bell around 2.a.m, but when he pulled through to pick up his food, he "exited from his vehicle and reached inside of the window and grabbed the victim's left butt cheek."
Guerrero was arrested after the employee filed a report, according to ABC affiliate WWSB, and he was later released on a $500 bond.
According to a police report obtained by The Smoking Gun, alcohol was "a factor" in the incidentalthough that's hardly an excuse when even Charlie Sheen can manage to make it through a Taco Bell run without groping anyone's ass.
A wedding in Pittsburgh's Station Square ended in a bloodied mess when three men were arrested for fighting outside of the reception late Saturday night. The groom, who was among those arrested, reportedly triggered the brawl after allegedly hitting on a pregnant reception worker and then challenging the worker's boyfriend to a fight.
The story is complicated, but let's suss it out. Some time after midnight Saturday night, the groom, Mark Williams, allegedly decided that hey, it was his right as a married man to hit on another woman at his wedding, so off he went to find a reception worker to work his charms on.
Williams reportedly got "touchy-feely" with the woman before attempting to pour alcohol down her throat, though the woman told him that she was pregnant. She called her boyfriend, Tyler Smith, to come pick her up, and that's when things got ugly.
From CBS Pittsburgh:
At that time, Smith allegedly confronted Williams about his actions and a physical altercation began.
Police say Williams' brother, David Williams, 35, eventually got involved and became aggressive with police.
A fourth man, Brian Taylor, 31, punched his hand through the front passenger window of a car nearby. He was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital for treatment.
Brian Taylor, when being taken away by police, reportedly yelled that he was HIV positive and attempted to resist arrest.
The three men, Mark Williams, his brother, David (an off-duty police officer), and Brian Taylor were arrested and taken to Allegheny County Jail.
A wedding of everyone's dreams! Congrats to the happy couple!
Phil Robertson, one of the stars of the "Duck Dynasty" reality TV show, says Islamic militants waging a campaign of war and terror in Syria and Iraq either need some Jesus or need to be killed.
"In this case, you either have to convert them, which I think would be next to impossible. I'm not giving up on them, but I'm just saying either convert them or kill them," Robertson said on the Fox News show "Hannity" on Tuesday night. "One or the other."
"I'd much rather have a Bible study with all of them and show them the error of their ways and point them to Jesus Christ," Robertson said. "However, if it's a gunfight and a gunfight alone, if that's what they're looking for, me personally, I am prepared for either one."

Don't know who he is or why anyone is listening to him, but you are right.Phil Robertson is once again speaking about things he doesnt understand.
How is that any different from the barbaric **** ISIS is doing?
The biggest day in the life of any child is that very first day of school, where they leave their parent's side for the first time and enter the big, sometimes scary world on their own. It's a next step in their evolution into an identity separate from their parents. It's the day when they finally become big boys or big girls, forever.
It's a day you only get once in life, and a west Texas school managed to **** it all up for a five-year-old boysimply because he didn't look like the other kids.
According to CBS-7 in Odessa, clueless school officials in the ironically-named town of Seminole sent Malachi Wilsona member of the Navajo Nationhome from school last week because they said his hair was too long.
Malachi's parents say that it's against their religion to cut their hair, but that didn't stop administrators at F.J. Young Elementary School in Seminole from sending the boy home until he got a haircut.
"Our hair is sacred to us, it makes us part of who we are," Malachi's mom, April Wilson, told CBS-7. She said that her son had been excited to start school all summer long, but her son's once-in-a-lifetime experience was ruined.
"It's kind of heart breaking because how do you explain to a five-year-old that he is being turned away because of what he believes in, because of his religion, because of what's part of him, how do you explain that to him?" said April.
School officials claim that they were only following procedures, and that Malachi was allowed to begin school with his hair intact once his parents provided paperwork showing that he was a member of the Navajo Nation.
This, incidentally, is the F.J. Young Elementary School mascot:

The school administration's demand that a Native American child get a haircut before being allowed to attend school is a disturbing flashback to an ugly and not-often discussed chapter in American history: Indian schools, in which supposedly well-meaning but undeniably racist white folks opened schools that tried to strip Native American children of any cultural identity, in essence trying to turn them white.
The processtypically enforced through often cruel if not barbaric forms of corporal punishmentincluded banning the use of native languages, the forced adoption of white names, dress and customs, vocational training in fields (usually farming or other manual labor) that weren't relevant either culturally or economically and the indoctrination of the children into white churches.
Often times the first step in that process involved an especially traumatic haircut.
April Wilson says that she's contacted the American Indian Movement for assistance, and is considering pulling her son out of public school over the incident. She's also looking into finding a lawyer to open up a discrimination case against the district.
Welcome to the big world, Malachi.
The above mugshot belongs to Brandy Allen, 31, an Arkansas woman arrested on Labor Day for allegedly stealing $144 worth of eye makeup from a mall cosmetics store. Fayetteville police say she grabbed "handfuls of makeup without looking at the color or labels. She didn't appear to be checking prices, either."
5News reports that after being confronted by an officer inside the Ulta store, Allen started pulling cosmetics out of her bag and smearing them with her fingers to make them look used, then shouted "No one ****ing saw me steal anything!"
Allen posted bail the same day. The motivation behind her alleged eye shadow theft will forever remain an inscrutable mystery.
On Friday, humorless "satire" site Empire News published an article titled "Congress Approves Bill That Will Offer Free Automobiles To Welfare Recipients," supplying elderly Facebook users with their weekly requirement of anti-Obama outrage.
According to the story, a new White House-sponsored "Obama Car" program will "offer free motor vehicles to welfare recipients" after being approved by Congress in a "narrow vote." Predictably, conservatives on social media completely lost their ****, and by Wednesday the article had been shared over 50,000 times.
But as you may have suspected, this story is totally false. Not only does such a bill not exist, even if one did, Congress could hardly have passed it during their current five-week summer recess.
Faced with such evidence, those who spread the hoax graciously conceded almost nothing.
Ironically, Obama's 2012 Republican opponent Mitt Romney did create such a program back in 2006. As governor of Massachusetts, Romney started the controversial Car Ownership Program, giving working welfare recipients free donated cars along with "one year's insurance, inspection, excise tax, title, registration, repairs and a AAA membership."
Don't know who he is or why anyone is listening to him, but you are right.
He seems to use his interpretation of one religious book, to justify killing people who he condemns for using their interpretation of another religious book, to justify killing.
On another not I wish people(media) would stop referring to this group as ISIS. They don't call themselves that, Obama doesn't call them that, he uses ISIL, It's not even that good an acronym for what they are.
I feel like the media just uses it cause it sounds catchy.
The ancient Egyptian goddess, with nothing to do with this movement, that would likely if she or anyone who worshiped her were alive today, would be killed by them.
They would have nothing to do with her, they don't now, and would never even call themselves that, or after a powerful woman, its the media.
I hate that this goddess name is now associated with them. Not to mention she was an awesome 70s superhero played by Joanna Cameron.
Who they would also probably kill too.![]()
