Well it might not be that bad of an idea for entirely different reasons.

It would cut down on lag and your bandwidth. Some of the gifs I've seen in the gif thread are a couple megs at least. Some people might not appreciate that type of stuff eating into their bandwidth quota.

i'm saying, ok for example, aesop's avvy is from iron man 2 apparently (going by what he said, i havent seen it yet)

i imagine there's gotta be at least some kinda spoiler or exciting bit in the trailer. some people don't wanna see that before they see the movie.

so say you're posting in, the lounge (again for ex), i think it'd be along the lines of netiquette to put said images or graphics or animated things in a spoiler tag so users have the option to view or not

Perhaps the compromise would be to have it as a personal function. Like if you wanted to disable smilies, it would only affect you. It would not affect me. Apply this principle to animated gifs.

But forum mods, addons and plugins in general are an issue in of itself. If its a hard code modification, only Mirko can handle that. He is the only one with FTP access. No one else. As for addons via the plugin manager, it's only people with an actual vbulletin license that can download that stuff. So whichever admin has it, can do it. And I am betting it is probably Mirko only.

i just think it proper netiquette to spoiler tag an image in the same way that one spoiler tags text when it comes to spoiler worthy stuff only. what's the diff there in text and image?

i only brought it up because there was similar protocol when tdk, sm3 and such came out. i was wondering if there would be the same kinda thing. if not, that's fine, if so, that's fine too

I don't think she's trying to force anything, I think its just a suggestion.

If more people were, self-monitoring around here when it comes to spoilers, this wouldn't be a problem...BUT, this would be a problem for mods to enforce, just as the hotlinking mess was tough to enforce.

Its fairly easy to enforce pirated stuff, etc....but this would be like trying to enforce trailers...spoilers are just a fact we have to live with around here...

The only time I get really ticked off is when people put the dang spoiler in the title of their thread...other than that, if you want to stay spoiler free, hanging out here 24/7 is pretty much a no go nearing movie openings...

It can tweaked so that, that anything that resembles the reputation bit can be disabled. Any avenues for abuse or flaming can be removed. You do not literally use all the functions.
