Are we CERTAIN though that WB is going to delay Flash and Aquaman until JL though? I mean, both of those films should be well into production or, in the Flash's case, maybe even done filming by the time JL rolls around. They already have the directors locked and getting the gears in motion, and casting is even starting (Iris West etc.) I'm not so sure WB is going to halt everything until Dec 2017 to see how JL does. I still think no matter what happens we're most likely still getting those movies.

Bear in mind, if WB stalls everything until 2018, then we're looking at mid 2019 releases for Flahs and Aquaman at the earliest and there's no guarantee those directors and creative teams will be available then.

I think WB has locked themselves into this film slate and the gears are already in motion. We may not get CYBORG or SHAZAM or GL, but its not going to do a full stop at JL even if the reception doesn't fare well.

Thats what I said and that Wrap article said as well,that all the wheels are certainly in motion.The Aquaman and Flash we are getting in 2018 is what Im predicting,with Batman as well if all goes well.

According to Mark Hughes, writer for Forbes, Chief Creative Officer at DC Comics Geoff Johns and Ben Affleck (Batman), who are both writing The Batman, have done some rewrites to the script to better tie in with their upcoming solo film.

Hughes says that while Affleck’s main contribution was in large pat to his character and its connection to the solo film, Johns did a bit more. We do know that Johns also co-wrote Wonder Woman and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he is co-writing on further projects, so its possible he is focusing on rewrites based around the writing he did for Wonder Woman or other future films in the DC Extended Universe.

Honestly, as I said earlier, if I were an actual shareholder of Time-Warner, I would consider a derivative suit against the Tsujihara and the board of directors if they do not pull the brakes. There is nothing to indicate that Flash and Aquaman will succeed. To the contrary, everything is pointing toward, at best, disappointment. Warners is burning money. I think there is a strong case that not pulling the brakes violates the duty of care that Warners owes their shareholders.

I really don't think its that serious, man. There's no doubt that the board of shareholders are pissed off, but i think both BvS and SS have performed...admirably enough for them to continue because if nothing else, its shown there is interest in the DC films. If both films were outright disasters at the BO then yes, they'd have no choice but to close up shop. But they're not. A $600M haul for SS is a decent haul to bring in. Whats going to happen is they're going to pull the brakes on the budgets. No more extravagant spending. Flash and Aquaman probably won't cost more than $120M to make whether Famuyiwa and Wan like it or not. By doing this they're pretty much guaranteed to maximize profits. JL will be the last big budget DC film until the DCEU gets it act together and earns bigger budgets back.

That would be the safest route. However we're talking about the same people than those who went ahead with Snyder and JL after BvS (granted that one was harder to stop/delay without losing too much money) so who knows ?
At this point and unless WW is as terrific as its teaser trailer shows and JL turns things around (which I highly doubt) the only property that they could salvage from such a long streak of bad films would indeed be Batman.

That type of budget is Fant4stic territory. I don't think they can go that low with characters like Flash and Aquaman (especially Aquaman that requires world building sets and CG). Anything between 150/170M would be reasonable for those characters but I wouldn't be surprised if they both come closer to 200M (again especially Aquaman).

Read my earlier post about why 600 million is not sufficient for SS. Even if it sets it up to be profitable, its not sufficient because of perception. There is a great clip from Silicon Valley, in which the new CEO explains that the company's product isn't the algorithm or platform that the engineers are building, but rather the company's shares. I'd post the clip but it involves horse sex, so I don't think its appropriate for the Hype. Anyway, the line is (and there was an entire CNBC article about why the line is the most authentic line in TV history) is:

Pied Piper's product is its stock. Whatever makes the value of the stock goes up is what we are going to make. Maybe sometime in the future, we can change the world and perform miracles and all of that stuff. I hope we do. But like I told you before, I am not going to mortgage the present for that.

The DCEU is hurting the price of Time-Warner shares right now. It is borderline negligence (and at worse, it is arguably a breach of a CEO's legally imposed duty of care) for Tsujihara to stubbornly push forward despite the fact that what is happening is hurting the company in the now. Whether you like it or not, numbers don't lie. There has been direct correlation to Time-Warner stock drops and the DCEU. This isn't about art, this isn't about SS crawling toward a profit through DVD sales. This is about the stock prices. All of the evidence indicates that the DCEU is hurting the value of Time-Warner/Warner Bros, the company. Warners needs to course correct.

I still don't think Aquaman is happening. I'd give Flash a 50/50 chances. That said, Warners needs to tread very carefully with Flash's budget. If they lowball it too much, it will look cheap and poorly made. They don't want their TV show version looking better than their movie version. Imagine the ridicule that would follow. The costume on the TV show already looks better. The effects better not.
