Suicide Squad SPOILER Discussion (BEWARE) - Part 1

Just saw it. What a steaming pile of garbage. From the very basic premise - a bunch of criminals who use guns and knives and a baseball bat + a fire guy vs. the Enchantress and her magical brother????!!! WTF. Whose bright idea was that? - to the completely forced and unearned "character development" to the boring action, extremely sloppy editing and blatant uses of music as a crutch...this was just poorly conceived from the ground up.

Don't even get me started on that try-hard Joker.

The only things that made this not a complete waste of time were Viola Davis and Margot Robbie being perfect choices for their characters, and those few flashes of old school Will Smith that reminded me why I liked that guy in the first place.

And sadly, despite how terrible I found this to be, it still entertained me more than BvS. Get it together, WB/DC. This is becoming embarrassing now. :(

i actually like that aspect and it makes it so interesting nothing better than mostly ordinary people overcoming extraordinary things it makes you feel for the characters safety

Their mission wasn't to fight the Enchantress but to rescue someone (Waller.)

Does anyone wish that mid credits stinger had been Waller and Batman, rather than Bruce?

Two people sitting in a restaurant having a bit of a chat is ****ing boring.

Batman appearing behind Waller, putting the scare on her and making her give him the info he wanted through intimidation is better than positioning Bruce as an equal. Being the only thing to faze Waller in the whole movie would have really put him over.

Mind you, he looks like a chubby ****er in both movies, so him in a restaurant is probably about right.

:funny:

Me and my other female friend appreciated Bruce being in this and that mid-credits scene was probably the best scene in the movie (in terms of no purple tint, weird cuts, tons of footage missing) so I liked it. We got both Batfleck and Bruce

You know, at some point in the future, people may well compare some of the colour palette choices of Suicide Squad's final cut (especially those character intros) to this ********:

Seriously, just awful. And how it was kinda used to mask how much they cut it was like they were taping the movie with that color-changing but mostly purple tint :/ Damn near ruined club scene for me because it showed up near the end of it

That level of gaudy camp looks like it's from Batman & Robin. Please tell me it's from Batman & Robin.

I just saw your signature(the fail part) and first it made me laugh but now I'm sad :/

What I'm sad about is that I don't have enough confidence at the moment to put anything past justice league on there...

Same :( I just hope Batfleck solo is well into development before JL premieres

Another thread of people confusing character flaws for flaws in the film. It's easy to understand why-- Disney has gentrified the Marvel universe and convinced droves of nerds that if a movie isn't done by their color-by-number rule book then that = bad.

The Marvel fans have also been manipulated by the Ghostbuster-pushing SJW critics to carry their water for them. If we can't love this movie then we can't love classics from the 80s like Robocop and Predator. Critics are piling on because the movie has been black listed as gun-worshiping and sexist. If you can't handle sex and violence then get out of the movie business.

If you really think this is a poorly directed movie then you need to be strapped into a chair and forced to binge watch Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, Spawn, Steel, Meteor Man, and 90s Fantastic Four.

This post is easily one of the most ridiculous things I've read on this board. You're joking, right? Please tell me you're joking.

I read a similar theory elsewhere at an earlier time. Am pretty certain that while WB meant to put him to rest in this movie, on account of how popular he's become, he could very well be brought back in another DCEU movie. Also we have to remember that this isn't the Nolanverse where dead stays dead :cwink:

I don't know what Thorston looks like, but he looks like this.

So I just saw this. My overall all feeling about this is consistent with other DCEU movies. It was enjoyable with many flaws and it is not something that I would seek out for a second viewing. I totally get the complaints about the whereabouts of the heroes, I was thinking the same thing. But one other question I had was about the Flagg/Enchantress relationship. Did she put a spell on him to make him love her? If not how did they come to have a relationship?

I thought about this today, but what was the point of the Joker scene in the club with Common's character? I don't think it added anything to the plot...Was it to show Joker loved Harley?

it was just the introduction of the Mickey and Mallory like duo and wasn't the batman car chase right after

Originally Joker gave him a gun and told him to kill Harley. He realized that if he kills Harley then Joker would kill him and if he didn't then Joker would probably still kill him for disrespecting both of them earlier because Joker offered Harley as a gift and he refused, so he kills himself with Joker's gun. If you noticed later before Batman showed up during the chase Harley tells Joker "C'mon puddin, do it!". The reason she said that is because Joker was going to crash the car into a wall while she doesn't have a seat belt on because Joker blames her for the deal between Joker and Common's character being ruined. It also explains why he decided to leave her in the car to drown instead of trying to get her out of the water.

Jesus. They really did **** this portion of the film up, didn't they? That all sounds much better, and much more Jokerish. In the movie we get lovesick puppy boy, whereas this sounds like a complete bastard. Much better.

Hahahaha I basically said the same things in my review. I just sat there the whole time wondering how the film got made. They said they ran test panels, but my lord the finishes product look like it had no QC at all.

Wow. Had no idea - as the final cut doesn't depict that at all.

Wow that makes so much more sense. I saw SS twice and I still had no idea what was going on in that scene, it was a total mess.

I don't understand why they couldn't let us have this entire scene and the whole chemical wedding scene, which is also in the novelization. How much time could that have taken? I think it would've given people a much better look at Leto's performance.
