Suicide Squad: General Discussion and Speculation - - Part 11

Has David Ayer EVER made a film that WASN'T rated-R? Because I cannot thing of one off-hand. And if you're ever going to do that, then a movie were the protagonists are a bunch of psychos, villains, thugs, and just generally not very nice people would be the place to do it.

Make it Rated R and this probably doesn't even make Mad Max numbers

It doesn't have to. "Suicide Squad" budget is not that big anyway, so they'll be at the positive end. And I am honestly sick of constantly making films that are supposed to be R-rated PG-13 for the sake of profit. If WB makes this R-rated they'll gain a lot of respect from me.

He didn't.

The budget is going to be pretty big and, regardless of budget, they'll be aiming for much higher box office than Mad Max: Fury Road.

It'll be a hard PG-13. Maybe a Rated R cut for blu-ray/DVD but not the theatrical release.

I don't think the budget is going to be all that big actually.

Maybe 120 mill max.

Totally fine with pg 13. Are Suicide Squad comics even r-rated?

I feel the same about Deadpool.

I'd say 120 minimum, 150 max.

I don't think a whole lot of CGI is going or be needed. Plus t shoot is going to be a relatively quick shoot I believe.

Due to be finished next month from what I understand.

As long as he's wearing his Arkham jammies. I'd buy it.

The length of its shoot is about standard for a big comic book action movie. Most shoot for four or five months. Occasionally some have very rushed shoots of less than four months (like X-Men: First Class) or lavishly long shoots of more than five months (like The Dark Knight), but the length of the Suicide Squad shoot is within the norm. And CGI can certainly be a big driver of cost, but it's not the only one. Like I said, $120-150 million is my guess for the Suicide Squad budget. For reference, The Wolverine had a production budget of $120 million, and WB tends to be a bigger spender than Fox.

Its going to be PG-13. Name all the big time box office earners that were rated R.

Actually the #1 domestic release of 2014, American Sniper ($350 million domestic), was rated R.

But, yes, Suicide Squad will still be PG-13.

The Matrix and T2 are R rated? What is the age limit for R movies in America?

I will stick to a 120-125 mill max budget for SS.

I've seen a bunch of people say this looks like nothing more than a mediocre summer action movie, and I actually couldn't disagree more.

This footage has a certain ambiance and character to it that doesn't really feel conventional. The cinematography looks great, the characters look diverse and unique, and the story itself is still an intriguing mystery. The shots and sequences they chose to include open up a lot of questions about what's going to happen, how the movie will be structured, how it all ties together, etc.

I like that and I can't wait.

This won't be R rated....however IF they did....than a good way to make sure it makes the money they want is to add Batman to the promo marketing campaign heavily.

They should do that anyway...but not over do it.

If you're under 17 you have to be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.

Thanks. In Australia Mad Max, for example, is MA. That means that people 15 an over can see it, but anyone over 15 needs an adult with them. Terminator 2 is M, which is recommended for people 15 and over, but if you're under 15 you can still see it without an adult.
