Suicide Squad: General Discussion and Speculation - - - - - - - Part 16

Any specific similarity with those characters.

Based on the trailers, Lawton is a part of his daughter's life and she knows who he is. In the script, his daughter is 18 and working in a diner while she goes to school. Floyd stops in for a bite every now and then, catches up. But she has no idea he's her Father.

Boomerang is still a dickbag, but he doesn't seem like as much of a lovable dickbag as Jai Courtney is playing. Mirror Master and Captain Cold get namedropped. He also has the plasma boomerang power he had after Brightest Day.

I could easily picture all of the current actors in these roles though.

How was his interpretation of Waller?

Kind of like Arrow's. Didn't do much. Just gave orders and radioed to check in with Flag. Doesn't have much baring on the story besides conceiving the Squad. I believe he also wrote Waller in Supermax, but I haven't read that in a few years.

Finally reading Justin Marks' draft of the script before Ayer overhauled the entire thing. Deadshot's introduction is pretty badass. The only characters in common with the movie we're getting so far are Deadshot, Boomerang, Waller, and Flag.

Is the full thing online? I've only read some excerpts.

EDIT: Nvm, I think I found it.

Hmm, maybe the vat does have an effect on the tatts, never thought about that. Then again, it appears his hair remains green. Guess we'll have to see how it plays out. I however don't mind the tatts, let Ayer do as he wants as you said.
To me they are like the chelsea scars, simply neat.

Yeah, I'm still not sold on them but an incredible performance can bury that. Since Harley's artificial dyes appear to wash out in the vat vs Joker's green hair, perhaps there's a 'pure' state they get returned to which could erase those tattoos and be a nice little scapegoat for the internet backslash against WB. Kinda hack, but could work.

To each his own. I for one know SS has a crap tone of cgi festing along with visual nolan ape-ing(see Tacit's avy). I also think BvS looks very rich(See red capes are coming and burning building rescue), seems more watchmen this time, hoping for a watchmen like colorful montage opening et all.
As for the mcu, they do have a mandated consistency and at times I find the lighting flat and the aesthetic CWish(thor and nazi tech), but at other times they manage to surprise. AOU and GotG being stand outs.

I think the difference with using CGI is simply in surprising and delighting us with it. That colorful shot of the Tattoo Man head-on'ing a subway train hypes me no end. Whereas that 'Doomsday' that looks like cutting room floor footage of Abomination from a certain Hulk film in 2008 middles my enthusiasm somewhat.

And yeah you're right, there's a few visual treats peppered in the MCU films, but that sameness across the board is off-putting. Here's Black Panther with a costume that looks of the same design of Asgard and Stark tech again. I think we'll see this in the DCEU as well, with Michael Wilkinson doing all the designs. It's nice to see Ayer at least spice it up already, even if it's just adding lots of tattoos to everyone!

I think people wanting that acid bath to take off the ink should take a closer look at the moment in question in the trailer. Look at what Harley is wearing. Where does the blue and pink/purple of her hair come from? So in other words, this is the moment of Harley's baptism in the cult of the Joker, and is her flashback moment in the movie. My suspicion is that ya'll are gonna be disappointed if you are expecting Ayer and WB to "cave" to internet druthers on any issue.

Maybe the vat of chemicals bleaches the hair and the skin and Joker gets his green hair through dyeing it.

The chemicals just having a bleaching effect makes more sense than giving someone a red smile and green hair. Joker is just making the best of his new look.

That's the one with Vixen and Multiplex, right?

Ayers not going to give these characters tats just to take them away because you guys don't like them.

Unless my theory of tattoo man using jokers tattoos against him is true.

I mean it really dosent hurt the character whatsoever. Joker dosent walk around shirtless normally, and the trailer gave us a variety of different joker styles. Tuxedo, purple jacket, he's even seen with fave paint that completely covers his face tats.

You guys don't have to worry

It looks like Harley doesn't just get her skin bleached but also her hair.

Ayer didn't overhaul marks' script he just wrote a new one

Ayer's concept has no connection to that at all
I remember when Ayer signed on to direct the film that script or premise leaked but once we say more about the characters involved in the movie it was obvious they weren't doing the same movie anymore.

During the second Suicide Squad trailer when the Joker is lifting Harley Quinn out of the toxic waste it appears that there is something on the Joker's skin snd I was just wondering if anyone had any theories as to what it may be.

His shirt
The chemicals bleached the color out of it so it looks see through
like when you get white clothes wet

Leto and Robbie will be presenting at the Oscars

If he could bash some common sense into his head with a dumbbell then by all means proceed.
